Good for them, it seems long past due.

And before you blame your abrahamic religion for your bigotry, you better go back and read that section of leviticus again... it also forbids bacon, ham, lobster, shrimp, calamari, oysters, clams, crabs, and sausage... forbids you to shave the sides of your head, or the sides of your beard, and forbids tattoos... so until you're prepared to outlaw barber shops, tatoo parlors, red lobster, and every restaurant that serves breakfast... cool it with the "sinner" lifestyle argument.

Here’s a look back at some of Obama’s quotes on gay marriage:

1. “I favor legalizing same-sex marriages, and would fight efforts to prohibit such marriages,” while running in 1996 for Illinois state Senate, in a written response to a questionnaire from Chicago’s Outlines gay newspaper.

2. “Undecided,” while running for re-election to state Senate in 1998, in response to an Outlines questionnaire asking, “Do you favor legalizing same-sex marriage?”

3. “I am a fierce supporter of domestic-partnership and civil-union laws. I am not a supporter of gay marriage as it has been thrown about, primarily just as a strategic issue. I think that marriage, in the minds of a lot of voters, has a religious connotation. I know that’s true in the African-American community, for example. And if you asked people, ‘should gay and lesbian people have the same rights to transfer property, and visit hospitals, and et cetera,’ they would say, ‘absolutely.’ And then if you talk about, ‘should they get married?’, then suddenly…” - Feb. 2, 2004, while an Illinois state Senator, in an interview with Chicago gay newspaper, the Windy City Times.

4. “I was reminded that it is my obligation not only as an elected official in a pluralistic society, but also as a Christian, to remain open to the possibility that my unwillingness to support gay marriage is misguided,” while a U.S. Senator, writing in his memoir in 2006, “The Audacity of Hope.”

5. “The government has to treat all citizens equally. I am a strong supporter not of a weak version of civil unions, but of a strong version, in which the rights that are conferred at the federal level to persons who are part of the same-sex union are compatible. When it comes to federal rights, the over 1,100 rights that right now are not being given to same-sex couples, I think that’s unacceptable.” - Aug. 9, 2007, while running for president, at a Democratic primary debate sponsored by the HRC and the LOGO network.

6. “I believe that marriage is the union between a man and a woman. Now, for me as a Christian — for me — for me as a Christian, it is also a sacred union. God’s in the mix.” - April 17, 2008, while running for president, defining marriage at the Saddleback Presidential Forum.

7. “I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage. But when you start playing around with constitutions, just to prohibit somebody who cares about another person, it just seems to me that’s not what America’s about.” - Nov. 2, 2008, while running for president, in an interview with MTV.

8. “I’ve called on Congress to repeal the so-called Defense of Marriage Act to help end discrimination to help end discrimination against same-sex couples in this country. Now, I want to add we have a duty to uphold existing law, but I believe we must do so in a way that does not exacerbate old divides. And fulfilling this duty in upholding the law in no way lessens my commitment to reversing this law. I’ve made that clear.” - June 29, 2009, as president, at an LGBT Pride Month reception.

9. “I have been to this point unwilling to sign on to same-sex marriage primarily because of my understandings of the traditional definitions of marriage. But I also think you’re right that attitudes evolve, including mine.” - Oct. 27, 2010, as president, in an interview with a group of liberal bloggers.

10. “Every single American — gay, straight, lesbian, bisexual, transgender — every single American deserves to be treated equally in the eyes of the law and in the eyes of our society. It’s a pretty simple proposition.” - Oct. 1, 2011, as president, speaking at the Human Rights Campaign annual national dinner.

11. “I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married.” - May 9, 2012, as president, in an interview with Robin Roberts of ABC News.

So Obama is: for, undecided, against, unsure, for, against, against, for, against, for same sex marriage. Got it.

I fail to understand how someone can grow up in our society and still be so ignorant of Christianity. You and I and others have been over this with you before and yet you still spread disinformation as if you have a hatred for Christians........

A sin is a sin...... after Jesus, they are paid for, the rules of the old testament dont apply. Please stop trying to distort things.

Recognizing a sin and refusing to support it does not equal bigotry. It doesn't make you homophobic. It simply means that you recognize that this person is a sinner and your compassionate desire for that person is that they turn away from what ever sin they are committing and be saved. It really doesn't matter to a Christian what the sin is..........

My point is that homosexual sex is one of those sins of the old testament that no longer applies... its from the same book as the rest of the sins I mentioned... if they no longer apply, that one is included in those that no longer apply...

Jesus renders leviticus null and void, homosexuality is no longer a sin... if leviticus is still in effect, bacon is equally sinful.

Just wanted to clarify... Having your religion isn't an impediment on anybody. It might be a sin for you to suck a dude off. It's not a sin for others. Sometimes' date=' Christians forget the idea that their faith involves a 'personal' relationship with Christ. One that has nothing to do with the rest of us. Keep your dogma to yourself.[/quote']

Sometimes? All day, every day, and twice on Sunday.

so until you're prepared to outlaw...red lobster

I will literally pull your eyeballs from your head with crab forks if you restrict my ability to snarf down Cheddar Bay biscuits. Consider this your only warning.

I disagree. I see lees Christians pushing their beliefs on people than atheists crying about Christian beliefs.

Interesting, I see hordes of Christians clutching at issues that would make them feel persecuted, as they've been doing for decades if not centuries.

I honestly don't think the Crusades ever really ended for some of these people.

And every day we hear about how atheists can't hear the pledge or anything else that had the word god in it. I think we are even.

Ah, OR's resident bigot. I'm not even going to bother to debate you since I think your body of arguments reasonably proves you to be a massive bigot, so I'll just say that your presence in this thread is not surprising, and for you to get your fundy religion the fuck out of my legislature.

Every day, really? I don't recall hearing anything about it yesterday, or even the day/week before...

Again.... as we have covered before.... a sin is still a sin...... the rules in the old testament were about how to avoid and or atone for sin.......... a sin was a sin then and is still a sin. After Jesus, the rules dont apply because the sin is paid for.

So the sins you like to commit: bacon, tatoos, shaving are fine, but the sins you don't like to commit: sex with guys, are bad...

If the sin is still a sin, you need to repent for your sausage lust...

And we need to immediately outlaw johnsonville, and run those sinners out of business...

How do you have special pleading for one rule in leviticus, but ignore the rest from leviticus? Must be some reason that 1 sin is still active when the rest of the sins are not...

I bet if you have kids.... they are some twisted little rascals. let em play on the roof, let em play with dangerous household products, let em stay out as long as they want, go where they want. Otherwise you would just prove your hatred for kids right?

Same concept........ just because you are concerned about your fellow man, does not make you a bigot. Refusing to support something that we view as dangerous to someones eternal life is no different than refusing to support driving while intoxicated. You just get all hung up on putting words into people mouth because it is actually YOU who is intolerant of others. You are intolerant of Christians.

Alright. I'm convinced that your just playing stupid to be irritating because nobody of even modest intelligence can still be confused after having something explained so many times.

Next time I see you eating anything that isn't kosher I am slapping it out of your hand... only because I love you and am looking out for your eternal life.
