Updates on my wreck

Well it looks like the damage to the bike is only cosmetic. I was out there the other day to inspect it. It fired up and ran fine (I can't ride it yet to test). The scratches in the side fairing don't seem too deep so I'm actually going to try to clean, sand, and buff them out. There is one nick on the upper fairing where gravel actually took a small piece of plastic out.

As for my knee, I just got out of another doctor's appointment and he fears my ACL may be torn and I might need some major surgery on it. Please pray for me that my ACL is not torn. I was hoping to go the Gap in a couple weeks and I'm getting married in a month. Thanks, all for your support.

**Updates:

I was able to painfully ride the bike the mile or so to my place from my buddy's. Bike runs great. I washed it up and the scratches are barely noticeable. I might not even have to sand them. Hopefully, the wax will hide most of it.

I got the results of my MRI yesterday. I DID NOT TEAR MY ACL!!!! :D :D I did tear my lateral meniscus and my ham string, but they don't believe that I will need surgery. I'm still in a lot of pain and can't put much weight on my leg. I also can't bend it much past 90º, but I'm optimistic for the recovery! Thank you all for your encouragement and please keep me in your prayers for a full, speedy recovery!

***Final Updates***

Well, I saw a specialist the other day and found out I have a lot of liquid under my knee cap and I also tore my Quadriceps. So in total I tore my lateral meniscus, my ham string, and my quadriceps, got swelling, liquid under the knee cap, and a bruised patella. I do not have to have surgery, but I am going to be in physical therapy for twelve weeks (with sturg's woman :D ) I rode my bike about a mile today. It is getting better, the only thing I have trouble with is downshifting, just because of the angle it puts my leg at. I was the bike and buffed the scratches. They don't catch the eye anymore, you can't tell they are there unless you look closely (except for the chip in the front fairing). I should be pain free in under four weeks the doc said. I'm hoping that means just in time for the wedding! Thank you all for you support. I will miss going to the Gap with everyone, but Lord willing I will be there for sure next year.

Get healed up but don't overwork it if you have surgery. A friend of mine had that surgery done and thought he would speed up recovery by working out and even though he did light work outs he overworked it and ruined the repair job.

Good luck with it and prayers sent.

Hoping its not THAT serious and you heal quickly to make the trip - also glad the bike is still solid, other than some rash

good luck....my mom wrecked a motorcycle and tore her mcl and the recovery time was ridiculous....few years later and its still not right

This is surely NOT what he wants to hear

It definitely is not what I want to hear. I'm not gonna lie, I'm actually pretty worried. It may be corny and half (or more) of you don't even believe in marriage, but my wedding is a big deal to me. I'm scared that I won't be able to dance in our first dance, I won't be able to carry her across the threshold, and that I won't be able to be as maneuverable for our crazy monkey sex afterward.

Recovery varies from person to person and age plays a big factor. Doctors also like to be very conservative on their recovery time estimations. When I had my kneee repaired for a meniscus tear, they said I wouldn't be able to walk for a week and I was up and around the same afternoon as the surgery. It was no big deal at all. When they re-aligned my patella (stemming from the same original injury) several years later, that wasn't as easy but I was still way ahead of their schedule. That was my late twenties. I fear I wouldn't fare as well now as I near the 40 mark.
