Need cable advice...

Well, now that my back is healed, I got almost a whole week of riding in...until yesterday at lunch.

There is definitely something wrong with the throttle cables(there appear to be two on my Honda Shadow).

Twist the throttle, and no tension, no change in RPM...nada...

I took a look inside the throttle/switch housing, and the ends of the cables are still good, and the cable ends are good.

The main question I have is:

Should I go ahead and try to replace the cables myself(I am not very mechanically inclined), or is this something I should take to my mechanic(a dude who I know will not screw me over)???

I do appreciate any help here.

The first thing I ever fixed on a motorcycle were throttle cables. It was somewhat a pain to get my big ass hands in the right spots to route the wire correctly but other than that it was fairly simple

Just make sure they do not bind anywhere or when you turn the bars on way you may get a surprise

can you visually inspect the length of your cables? if it looks all in the right spot, i'd guess one of the ends popped off.

^ lol. Thats what I was thinking when i saw the title.

I'd guess that an end came loose also. Check it out on both ends. It might be a simple fix.

Yeah that is the only cable or cables ya mess with now.... huh buddy? You were very gifted at adjusting cables by the way.

Comcast is pretty decent I hear. Like the others have said check the cable ends.

being that it is a shadow it should be fairly easy to replace. if it does nothing either the cable broke or fell off the mount on the carbs.

looks like someone tried to cut your front brake lines and kill you but cut the wrong wire like a noob. you should probably flee to mexico. it's the only way to be sure.

isn't that akin to trying to murder your wife by getting her a boob job and rigging it to explode after you're done having your way with... ohhhhhhh yeah, so it probably wasn't your wife.
