i scanned that shit but didnt see papa johns. Papa Johns is getting sued (i think) for the way it has "adjusted strategy" since the election with all the new regulations regarding all that part time/full time bull shit...

its only going to continue, my gf's dad is considering laying off people so he stays under the limit for numbers for health care and some other stuff. he can't afford it

I haven't seen a list for what the state of Ohio has had to cut, but the few I've seen are pretty extensive. Free education programs are mostly gone for a while.

Next step will be for employers to cut full time back to part time.

edit: I still judge the state of the economy by counting empty store fronts while driving into work.

One mini mall of about 8 stores is 100% empty. They weren't before.

Yep, I'm hearing that a lot. My supervisor has mentioned that about our company owner. Gawd, I hope not. Lots will be screwed out of jobs because of the health care crap.

... and? There has literally not been enough time for Obama to have been back in office for and economic impacts to cause any of this. My company just laid off a ton of people, why? They were bought out by a bigger company who decided to do it. AMF, Suzuki, my company, etc... have no link and are just going though their cycles. Hell, GE used to lay off a certain number of workers every year; that doesn't mean they didn't hire them back, it was just apart of their business model. Correlation does not mean causation.

This week we got our benefits update for 2013. Our insurance premium is going up and changing to a percent instead of a flat fee. Our deductible is doubling our copay is tripling. They are adding a tobacco surcharge and a spousal surcharge. prescription increased and out of pocket maximum increased. the flexible spending account limit decreased.......... Oh and our wage freeze is in place for another year. Obama and his healthcare scheme suck!

Excuse me.....but can we all forget about the elections now....they are over....our leader has been chosen and we need to join forces and follow him "FORWARD" into the abyss. This is only the beginning. The real destruction is looming in the near future. 2013 and expecially 2014 will go down in history as the beginning of the end. The financial, spiritual, and emotional toll that his policies are going to take on this country are going to be the undoing of the last 235 years of any progress that we have experienced. Welcome to the Divided Socialist States of America. I so much look forward to paying a 5% "tax" on the sale of my real estate in addition to paying the capital gains tax.

So how much of the blame for that can we put on the government / president, and how much is just part of the natural ebb and flow of capitalism?

It's not like people never get laid off under a Republican president...

It's not like every single job lost under Bush wasn't directly attributed to him by the left either.

At what point does Obama actually deserve some credit for a climate where investors and business owners are afraid to hire and produce?

Never, I guess.

It's the economy. Make of it what you will.

I'm not seeing where I said anything about politics or politicians.

Probably not at the current point, being that there are now more jobs than when he took office. Hiring is still going on, production is still going on. Yes, obamacare was poorly timed in a recession which is causing a slower recovery, but a positive gain is still positive.

Spin those numbers. The jobs that were lost are not the ones that are coming back and the gain is marginal, public sector is down, full time workers are down, professional jobs are down. Manufacturing that's gone is mostly gone forever. Shit's gone downhill, not up, but cheerlead if you feel like it. We're losing vendors and competitors in my business, and it's getting worse not better.

Energy prices are still high, wages are stagnant, taxation is going up across the board, healthcare prices are soaring and the investor class is sitting on their hands...and that's historically a sign that things are going to get worse - they are the engine of growth (hence JFK's tax cuts to spur economic investment in the private sector, which worked btw).
