Hopefully just in time for the spectacular fall colors in East-Central Ohio, a grand tour of some of this area's most scenic and seldom-traveled back roads and highways! The date for this ride is Sunday, Oct. 3. This is a tour that is geared for Adventure bikes, but certainly not limited to them! The route I have prepared is 176 miles of every kind of road this area has to offer, from sweeping 2-digit state routes, to twisties, gentle paved farm roads and a lot of great gravel and dirt...from groomed and fast to mild jeep trails along some of the prettiest farmland in the state. Truly an Adventure ride! DETAILS! The ride will take off from my place around 10am, after a short meeting. I live just north of Granville Ohio (35 miles east of Columbus). From there, head east through Licking, Knox & Coshocton Counties. At the mid-way point, we'll stop for BBQ at The Depot in scenic Dresden Ohio. After lunch, some more great roads winding back here to the start...or you're free to peel off before if it's convenient. The ride is big-bike friendly, I've done every bit of it 2-up on my Vstrom with mild DS tires, and unless it rains furiously the night before the roads should be easily doable. There are a few roads which are rough, ruts and a bit of washouts and loose rocks...but not gnarly or technical at all, dry they're a breeze but if you're skeered of that kind of thing, be forewarned. There are a couple of small water crossings, seldom running in the late fall but ankle-deep if so (see the pics below). About as gnarly as the roads are look like this, and these sections are short probably only 1/20th of the ride: All bikes are welcome, all sizes shapes & colors...1 up, 2-up, side-cars and ape-hangers! (kidding about the monkey-bars, I'm not leading you if you sport those). If you are comfortable on the above roads, I encourage you to come! The ride should last approx. 7 hours including stops & lunch, I've done it in 6 taking my time. If you would like to come Saturday and camp-out, I have 44 acres of woods, a camping area, a fire-ring and plenty of firewood. I welcome you to join me, and I'll fire up the grill. The same goes for Sunday, if you'd like to camp after the ride, you are welcome to. I may ride Saturday too, but a shorter "warmup" loop if there's interest. There are also trails on the property if you have a light bike, but they're challenging for a big bike, you have mad skillz if you can get a Strom through them. So, here's the deal...if you're interested in coming please send me an email or PM and I will reply with directions & address. dada01@yahoo.com If you have any questions, ask 'em here and I'll be glad to answer them. Just a few teaser pics from some of the roads...1 point

Interesting route, coast to coast on almost no freeways. Pre-1916 motorcycles only, it's starting tomorrow. Mostly Southern roads, it's 3294 miles... http://www.motorcyclecannonball.com/1 point

Sunday Sept 12th at noon. Gonna have another get together here in the woods to shoot and brag and lie. May light a fire at some point as well may throw something on the grill who knows we're winging it on the other stuff but the shooting is for sure as many have picked up some new toys lately and asked about putting another one together. All guns welcome from .22 to 50cal. Bring targets, tanerite, clay throwers, steel targets, whatever. If you wanna bring snacks or somthing for the grill thats cool too. Women and kids welcome also. Going with Bens rules on this one, If you've been to my house before you're already invited. If not send me a message and we'll talk, not putting my address or directions out in the open.1 point

Or actually the last 2 weekends, lol. The 600rr.net forum was having a meet at Deals Gap this past weekend (8-12), but barely anybody showed up... there was only about 6 of us in total. But, we still had a good time, even though mother nature sure didn't want to cooperate on saturday. Being that I made this trip twice, some of the pics are kind of repetitive... sorry! I'm just posting them all A couple people came out early cuz they were spending the whole week there. So I rode out to Deals Gap last Sunday the 5th Bike all packed up and ready to go! I'm camping out so I got my tent, sleeping bag, pillow, etc all stuffed in there some how Arrived at the Deals Gap Resort and it was insanely packed with people! In all the times I've been there I've never seen it this packed before. But luckily there was still some open space in the camping area and I was able to find a spot Unpacked everything and set up the tent right next to the rustling stream I won't go on the dragon when it's busy like it was... too many idiots that don't know how to ride running into other people (3 wrecks the previous day and 2 wrecks this day). So I just hung around the gap store and waited for the others to arrive. In the meantime, I laughed at the squids and harleys, and saw this little gem Wasn't too long before I saw 2 600RR's roll in, and what looked to be a super tall dude on the one. I figured that had to be them, so I wander over and look at the tags... sure enough. Met up with Brian and his GF, they had just gotten in after driving 30 hrs straight (1800 miles) from Utah. We waited around for a little while longer for it to die down, then headed up to the overlook After that they were pretty tired from the drive and wanted to get some rest, so they took off and headed back to their campsite. I wanted to get a sunset picture, but the overlook wasn't a good place, so I made my way down the mountain and over to the Fontana Dam Still couldn't get a real good sunset picture, but this still looked kinda cool After this I made my way down to Robbinsville for some dinner, then back to the Gap store to get some sleep. It was a nice night, so I decided to head up to the overlook at 11pm and check it out at night. Talk about a sloooowww ride up there, but holy crap... get to the overlook and I promise you you've never seen so many stars in the sky before! Absolutely spectacular... enough that it almost makes you dizzy looking at it cuz it's endless stars from horizon to horizon. It was so dark though I lost my bike... when I went to leave I couldn't find it and had to wave my arms around in front of me. Finally found it and made my way back to the gap store... slowly, lol Got up the next morning and went looking for Brians campsite, but never did find it so I just ended up making my way back home [bEGIN BORING WORK WEEK] Uggghhhhhhhhhhh... [/END BORING WORK WEEK] Friday the 10th... I skip out of work a little early, and make my way back to Deals Gap, this time carrying even more stuff, haha Arrived there once again, much less crowded this time around Set up camp yet again, and found out my air mattress is bigger than my tent. Oh well... still worked, just looked a little goofy Shortly after I got there, I met up with Scott who was staying at Fontana Village... he came over to the Gap store and we then rode down to Robbinsville for some dinner. We met up with 2 other guys from the forum. Brian and his GF couldn't make it cuz they were heading back home and had to leave around that time. Had a great dinner at this mexican place, then just hung out and BS'd until 11pm or so.... good times! I didn't get any pics though. We were all getting tired so they headed back to where they were staying, and Scott and I headed back to the Gap store. Once there I met up with Rodney from the forum, along with running into another guy from one of the other forums I'm on... just pure coincidence he was up there in his WRX, and then several other people that were staying there. We had a nice fire going in the fire pit, and ended up just sitting around the fire BS'ing until 4:20 am when we almost couldn't stay upright anymore, lol. GREAT times though and tons of laughs Saturday morning I'm woken up at around 6am by the sound of massive raindrops pounding against my tent. I went back to sleep, woke up around 8:30 and it was still raining, laid there for another hour or so then finally dragged my a$$ outta bed. Got out of the tent and... what a beautiful day! Take note of that GSX-R parked in front of me So we're just sitting there in the little shed where they keep the firewood hanging out and staying out of the rain. Dude walks up... "Jared??". I kinda recognized the dude, but couldn't remember his name or where from. Then he mentioned "we used to ride together in Florida".... then I remembered who he was! I couldn't believe he recognized me... I moved out of Florida in 2007 and haven't seen/heard from/talked to this guy in at least 3-4 years. Was great seeing him again and catching up on alot of stuff! In the meantime, my bike took refuge under a tree... We waited and waited for the rain to stop, then about 2pm it finally did, and the sky cleared up to a beautiful blue sunny sky. Everybodys plans to meet up and ride that morning were pretty much washed, and others just went home, so it was pretty much just Rodney and myself. We decided to make our way up to the overlook Some lady took our picture... Nobody had to add any parts to the tree this weekend, so that was definitely good1 point

My first ride with CSBA, (last year) I didn't wear a lid either. I quickly learned, and respected that this group has a strong focus on Safety and have since wore a helmet, and gradually increased to Full protective gear. At first, I wore it Only out of respect for the group...but the more I wore that Shark RSR2 helmet, the more I wanted to wear it. Now, I can't stand riding more then 5 min without it..unless I'm just in town going 25mph heh. If for no other reason, please ask him to wear one out of respect to the groups focus on Safety. On his own time, or group rides that he leads, he can wear what he wants..but on rides that other people lead..it is just considered respectful to wear what is requested. Just my opinion, from one of the things I've picked up on since I've been a member of Ohio Riders. That being said..I'm still planning on going..but sadly, I won't be on those good meds again (Insurance problems) so I'll be back to my usual drugged up self.1 point

+1. All of these women complaints I never have with my wife. She never nags me, ever. Hell, I have seriously requested it a couple times just to get my lazy ass to do something I don't want to do but need to. She works hard and has a great career. Never spends my money. Doesn't make me watch "chick flicks" and really isn't into them. She never complains about my hobbies, and will participate in some of them as well (she loves boating, bought her own quad so she could go riding with us, etc.). Maybe some of you need to actually find a woman worth being with instead of bitching about the next dumb bimbo you picked up because she was easy to get into the sack. But then I see some guys that find a good woman, and ruin it because they don't appreciate or respect what they have.1 point

I've got to agree with the AFJ guys on this one. Put your opinions aside. The kid is dead. I think we all agree he was doing dumb shit but it's still sad and this is no time to judge him. If this was your dumbassed little brother or your son would you want people acting this way. I know there is some bad blood between this forum and AFJ and a lot of people think stunting on the street is stupid but let's not forget to be reverent at a time when a lot of people are likely grieving this kid's death. It's just not classy and generally bad form to get on a public forum and start bashing this kid cause he made a few bad decisions when his bad decisions resulted in his death. If he was still alive and a little beat up, I'd be saying the opposite. It'd be a lot better cause he might actually hear us. Maybe I'll put it another way. He will not benefit from anyone's rants. you are pissing on his grave. What if your dad was an alcoholic and died from liver failure. Would you run around telling everyone what an idiot he was. Or maybe even milder your dad dies cause he's a fat ass and ate like shit his whole life. Is his dying legacy going to be how he couldn't lay off the quarter pounders? Point is, get off your high horse. Everyone has their short comings and it's one thing to judge and criticize when they are alive but once they are dead all you can do is look at the situation and learn or reinforce a lesson. For all we know this kid was raised by morons and hung out with morons all his life. He probably didn't have near the privileges that a lot of us did. Is that an excuse for being an idiot. No it's not, but now he's dead. So, don't run from the cops, stunt on the highway and run into the back of trucks. It could make you dead. Got it.1 point

now why would i leave my stick at home?? It has been dying to meet you. and I wish I could come out but don't get off till 7:30 and everyone will probly be gone by the time i get there from Easton. you will have to give me more notice next time.1 point

what he said, but last year myself and another guy dipped out early due a rain threat as well as I had friends coming into town I needed to get back for...so if you can't stay all day it really isn't a big issue.1 point
