I don't look at it as "sacrificing my ride" when I ride behind a slower rider. I take the time to enjoy what I'm doing and take a breather. Oh yeah...and I check out his sweet tire tread2 points

First, I'll address the Cincinnati thing. I am from Cincinnati, but I went to OSU for my undergrad. I try to get up to CBus as often as possible, usually once every month or two. Recently I've been talking to some other 7 owners in Columbus and hanging out with them. They are on these forums, but I'm not aware what names they use on this forum and I don't want to call them out by RL name. Ideally I'd like to get up to cruise sometime and hang out with some of the CR guys. Unfortunately, Cincinnati doesn't have a very good import scene. Lots of little ricers and stuff like that. A friend of mine suggest CR as a more mature group of enthusiasts. On to the FD. I picked up this FD at the end of April. It is an 1993 FD R1. List of mods is pretty short, mainly a Racing Beat catback exhaust. It is primarily stock, which is what I wanted when getting an FD. I will be having one of your members rebuild the engine and port it in a few months, so the car will be in Columbus soon. I've been into FDs ever since I drove my buddies back in 2003. Anyway, I'm sure you aren't into reading books so here are some of the pics. Looking forward to meet up with some of you guys. Sorry for the small pictures, RX7Club albums have a size cap. Alright...go head...let the Doritos jokes fly lol http://www.rx7club.com/picture.php?albumid=4725&pictureid=37739 http://www.rx7club.com/picture.php?albumid=4725&pictureid=37742 http://www.rx7club.com/picture.php?albumid=4725&pictureid=38650 http://www.rx7club.com/picture.php?albumid=4725&pictureid=38652 http://www.rx7club.com/picture.php?albumid=4725&pictureid=38654 http://www.rx7club.com/picture.php?albumid=4725&pictureid=38655 http://www.rx7club.com/picture.php?albumid=4725&pictureid=38656 http://www.rx7club.com/picture.php?albumid=4725&pictureid=38657 And finally the twin red heads (mine is on the right): http://www.rx7club.com/picture.php?albumid=4725&pictureid=386631 point

Lol, stock R1 suspension. I didn't size up the wheels. The previous owner put those on. So yeah, I agree max 4X4! It looks like its flying next to the other slammed FD. I intend on getting a new set of wheels and some suspension, but that's a long way away. First up is getting this rotary back to a 'reliable' state. 100k miles and I don't know the last rebuild, so Im not taking any chances. @LS1 swap: I can't do it! To me, swapping the rotary out spits in the faces of hundreds of hard working Mazda engineers for tens of years. I appreciate they're hard work and would never swap despite the unreliability.1 point

If you are DUI and cause an accident that kills someone then you get Aggravated Vehicular Homicide. Felony 3 or Felony 2. If the victim survives but is injured then you get Aggravated Vehicular Assault. Felony 3 or Felony 2. The charges are pretty much identical and the punishments are too. The fact the the rider died only changes the section number that the person is charged under from ORC 2903.06 to 2903.08. The driver is in just as much trouble. Also requiring helmet so that drivers who crash into us are spared a Homocide charge is totally the wrong reason to require helmets... In fact, requiring safety gear (or else you lose the protections that are afford to helmeted riders under criminal and civil law) is a slippery slope. What's next? Well, now you MUST wear an armored jacket, leg protection, ankle braces, airbag suit, hydraulic exo-skelton etc. Blaming the motorcyclst for being vulnerable to a car is the same kind of thinking that has women in other countries wearing canvas tarps and crap like that - lest they inflame the passions of men. No woman should be told to cover themselves up purely because some men can't control themselves. Similarly, no motorcyclist should be told to cover themselves up purely because some cagers can't drive.1 point

I don't mind the highway. When I ride highway I tend to try and stay out in front of traffic so I'm seen. That sometimes means riding fast but I'd rather have people saying "look at that asshole riding so fast" than "oh shit, I didn't see him there". If they see me riding fast, they SEE me My opinion of city streets and backroads... if you're gonna get hit by a car or cut off, that's where it will happen!1 point

I pretty well agree with the OP here, after going through the same thoughts and dealing with similar traffic conditions. Where I differ is weekend twisty riding, which I LOVE doing with a group of talented riders. The commute isn't much of a pleasure ride, even though I'm on the bike, it's nothing like going out and hitting some good roads, it's merely an economical (questionable) way of getting back and forth to work. Also, I'm ATGATT even for the commute. I rode about 3 miles Monday night without my jacket and riding pants, and I was VERY uncomfortable. I had my helmet and gloves on and still didn't feel right. I didn't top 55 mph in a stretch of road that I've been riding almost daily since I started riding, where I normally go faster than the not-posted speed limit.1 point

Our justice system punishes the intent, not the result. If someone dies as a result of a simple accident then you are not charged. If someone dies as a result of you breaking the law, then you are. I understand why the OP asked this question and I think it's a valid question to ask... however... It sets a dangerous precedent to shift blame onto an otherwise blameless victim on the basis that they did not go far enough to protect themselves. The problem is; who decides what is "far enough"? Does the DUI driver get a free pass if the ride was not wearing a jacket? Or pants? OR maybe he or she was wearing a jacket but not an *armored* jacket. Or maybe they should have been wearing a back protector? Heck, bikes are dangerous regardless of how much gear you wear, so should the DUI driver should get a fee pass simply because she hit a bike. "If he was wearing a helmet he may not have died" = "If he was in a car he may not have died" If the rider was complying with the law on how much gear to wear then the DUI driver is being charged appropriately. That said, my favorite helmet-related quote is still; "Anyone who does not ear a helmet obviously has nothing up there worth protecting." Gear up folks, ATGATT. When you're looking down from heaven (or up from hell - I know you guys) then it will be of little consolation that your lack of helmet didn't prevent the DUI driver that killed you from being charged.1 point

"That woman would have never been raped if she hadn't been wearing that short skirt" Argue the difference and you show your hypocrisy, or just admit you made a stretch with it.1 point

They were driving drunk and killed somebody. It doesnt matter if they were wearing a helmet or not. She broke a law and killed somebody in the process.1 point

Made the classic mistake of going to the pony with too much money on hand. Left with a lil less money inside my leather and more in leather. Picked up a set of Alpinestars SMX-5 boots and a SP2 gloves. Setting up to do a track day at Mid-Ohio soon.1 point
