  1. Yep. Most of us on here are honest people wanting a fair price if we are selling something. Truthfully, if I was newb looking for a thingamajig that I don't know a lot about, a constructive criticism might make me look twice and do some some more research and find a better going rate. If someone is on here trying to rip people off, we need to put a stop to that anyway and look out for one another. It goes the other way; if you know something that a member is selling is cherry, let others know; hell even if you know they are standup person, mention it. The best consumer protection in a forum like this is each other.

  4. Now please remember that I haven't ridden a bike since '92...wife agreed to the purchase of a bike at the end of the year, but this '05 Honda Shadow Aero showed up on Craigslist at such a great price....So I picked it up a couple of weekends ago. Last week, put myself on the waitlist for the Motorcycle Safety Course, and was able to get in! Went this past weekend, and had a GREAT time! Met a bunch of wonderful people who love riding(as much as everyone here). Found out that some of the old "skilz" are still there...cornering is not a problem...no chicken strips will reside on MY bike! I never remember having to do U-Turns....or I was never really good at them and blanked out the memory....apparently my center of gravity has shifted since I'm twice the man was was in '92 (literally, I used to weight 120 when I was in the Army, now over 200). The instructors pounded home the importance of being prepared and having all the right equipment, and practicing your skills as often as possible. Now, for everyone who considers taking the course, check out all the information for the gear necessary for the class. Remember to have plenty of rest, bring a cooler with drinks and food to the range....a chair would be a good idea too....keep an eye on the weather to have the appropriate rain gear...but whatever happens, but please, if you are going to be out in the sun, REMEMBER THE PHUCKING SUNSCREEN!!!

  5. ...as if anyone gives a damn what I think... Some other forum I'm on has a rule that won't allow the sort of actions that have been occurring here with regularity - might be the Sig forum, those guys are Nazi's... ***edit - it's one of the Ruger forums. - If you're not genuinely interested in buying the item that's for sale, keep your mouth shut. - If you think the seller is charging too much for something, keep your mouth shut. - If you think all <insert whatever> suck, keep your mouth shut. - If you have one of what the seller is selling and like it, speak up. - If the seller wants to know why they can't sell their item, speak up. - The (by now) seemingly obligatory "LBTS, GLWS" is fine, imho, and provides a free ttt bump for the seller. Basically, don't shit in someone's for sale thread, just (un)common courtesy. My $0.022 worth.

  7. See, that's why us men think we are satisfied after sex because of all the whining and dining and damn stupid movies we're forced to endure just to get some. Take that all away and it's just another annoying, yacking, once a month bleeding specimen. And it's only after you've paid out the ass and gotten hitched, do the feelings of regret, embarrassment and anger finally shine through. I'm just playing ladies, don't get your panties in a bunch!

  9. If you feel that the schools aren't getting enough money you are free to donate more to them. I'm sure others share your same opinion and would be willing to donate more to the schools as well. Don't make it mandatory for others to do so because some bureaucrat can't balance a budget. Who is harming the kids more the people who pay the taxes and think what they are paying is enough to support the kids or the school system that abuses the money they get not applying it for the kids.

  10. I completely agree. We're a community. I haven't met more than 10 or 12 ORDN members, but (believe it or not) my reputation on this site means something to me, and I generally respect (if not like) most of the regulars here. Ripping people off is no way to make myself look good, and you damn well better believe I am going to look out for you guys and call a rip-off a rip-off when I see it. Personally, I find it insulting to our intelligence when people post bikes "for their friend" for twice what they're worth. There's also part of me that just thinks it's wrong to cheat people. Profit? Sure; but a fair deal is a fair deal, and a bad deal is a bad deal. I was a know-nothing 22 yr old shopping for a bike not that long ago, and I'm lucky as hell I didn't get taken. If I can help keep someone else from being ripped off, you bet I'm going to do so. And no, just because the dealership ripped you off and you own $5000 on your GS500 doesn't mean that it's less of a dick move to try and sell it to some other newb for $5k. Getting ripped off isn't a valid excuse to rip off someone else. people expect that shit on Craigslist because it's a truly public forum. You may not need any kind of "credentials" to post here, but this is supposed to be an online community of people who enjoy riding. Implicitly or explicitly, there ARE things you just don't do here that you'd be fine doing on Craigslist. /rant.

  17. so if we like it speak up, but if not then dont say anything? so any review a person reads will be positive, even if the majority thinks its a piece of shit buyer buys it and then hates it for being a piece of shit and then have to sell it and take a loss on it all because of your shitty system whats next? you going to go to all the local elementary schools and start burning the books? you suck, sir.

  19. This is just as much for my own "records" as anything else, but in case anyone gives a shit, this was my day. I left early on Sunday and after some time-wasting detours trying to avoid tolls, arrived at Summit Point at 2:00 on Sunday. NESBA was riding Jefferson Circuit, and WERA was racing on Main. It was a "national" event, and there were some seriously fast riders out. My friend Brad took three 4th place finishes, and a DNF (smoked his clutch on a restart in his first race, pitted in, and then laid the bike on its side to change the clutch w/o losing any oil! ha!) I didn't get to spectate as much as i would have liked, because i was busy trying to get my rear tire changed before the vendors packed up. With that accomplished, we waited for the WERA guys to finish up, and then moved our entire pit setup from Jefferson over to Main. I hadn't really unpacked anything by my bike and tools, so I just tossed my bicycle on someone else's trailer, rode my bike over behind then, and then rode my bicycle back to my car/trailer. Bring a bicycle to Summit. There are 3 tracks, plus the kart track, and it's an EXPANSIVE facility. Cool place. RIDING (Monday morning): I'd never seen this track before, and it's been a while since I've learned a new-to-me track. I've also yet to turn any laps in Advanced anywhere but BeaveRun, which I know pretty well... First session was a combination of learning where the track went, and reminding myself that i was on a fresh rear tire that had not been remotely scrubbed in, except for the ride from the JC paddock to the Main paddock. I didn't scare myself, but I went damn slow. 2nd session wasn't much better. I was dealing with some shift-point problems, and since I'd re-geared the bike when I changed the tire (from +2 rear to +0), i felt like my drive was suffering in a lot of places. It was also weird to be bogging a bit for turns I'd usually take in 3rd. Anyway, I improved. Dropped about 3 seconds (into the 1:28's), and was starting to feel like I knew where the track went. 3rd session only showed about a half a second improvement, but I was VERY consistent, and figuring out where I could cut time. Lunch was very necessary. I fell asleep. After lunch, I sucked. No idea what happened. 2nd session after lunch, I sucked worse! I got so incredibly tired after 6 laps, I had to pull in. Something was way "off" with my body. I downed a couple waters, and just sat, relaxed, and stretched in the shade. I made the decision to call it a day after the next (3:00) session, but also told myself I was going to ride the whole thing. It would be a good workout, if not good riding. VERY glad I went out. I knocked another 2 seconds off my best time, and actually passed someone. What was more satisfying is that when the faster guys lapped me (I wasn't running warmers, so they gap me by 20+ seconds in the first couple laps), I was able to hang with them for a while, and learn a few things. I know I can still drop another 4+ seconds at Summit Main, but I feel like I learned the track, and made good progress. this is the first time I've learned any track without Control Rider assistance, or any sort of "tow" from someone else, so it was humbling to say the least. I went the full 20 minutes, and felt good doing it. As I was taking off my helmet, they were announcing that there was lightning in the area, and teh track would be cold until further notice. This removed ANY doubt that I would be packing up early They did start riding again about 15 minutes later, but I had the bike on my trailer, and was about ready for a shower before the 6 hour drive home. My friend Jeff texted me from the track while I was on the road and said I got out just before a hail storm at the track! I saw lightning to the south most of my drive home, but only drove through VERY brief periods of rain. As I type this, my car is sitting in the parking lot of my office, still full of most of my riding gear, and a lot of sweaty clothes. The trailer is in my garage waiting to be unloaded. I've had much worse Mondays

  20. Pay attention. They make it easy for you to tell who to taze by making us talk with funny accents or have dark skin. Dark skin AND funny accent = you get to use the shotgun tazer in his mansack. Tazing protocol 101: "Ola Amigo." = TAZE "Could you direct me and my black friends to a place where I can engage in the purchase and/or sale of unlicensed pharmaceuticals?" = TAZE twice. "Jolly good show old chap." = Potentially taze - if the limey bastard is being followed by drooling American girls who think his accent is dreamy. "Excuse me officer, but could you direct me an my white male friends to the golf tournament" = DO NOT TAZE, unles he shouts "Don't taze me bro". "Bad cop, no donut" / "I pay your salary" / "Why don't you catch some real criminals" etc = Just attach jumper cables from your alternator to his nuts and nipples and rev the engine until you run out of gas. Call backup to bring more gas. Did that make it more clear for you?
