Totally true. But Monday morning there will be roughly 5000 hungry little kids at our district. We have to feed them man. W can't let them starve. This is America, we take care of our poor...our huddled masses. It's who we are, our used to be. They are little kids, they didn't ask to be born to crack head mom's.2 points

OK we can agree 100% on that! Not that it matters to our agreement, but some of that abuse is corporate abuse. Our glorious television system incessantly sells us "things we don't need to impress people we don't like" (Tyler Durden) and make up for problems we don't have with an urgency warranted by the threat of social ostracism. But hey, at least it's done by the job creators, all be they hailed!2 points

We have spent WAY more than one trillion on solar. We have been spending money on it since the 70s. We have spent enough on it. It needs to work on its own or die.How about we spend a trillion on starving people.2 points

This thread is a perfect example of why I hate everyone. Pope comes out very strongly for helping poor starving people. He is someone in a position of power that can help do something about it and shape the future. And instead of embracing his ideas and supporting him the asshat liberals come in here and ridicule him for something a bunch of dead popes are responsible for. I hate everyone.2 points

. My wife (a former Columbus city school special ED teacher) and I were just discussing this.... How does a kid grow up not falling into the same patterns? I grew up thinking there were 17 grades of school including kindergarten. College was just part of the expectation. When three generations live off of the government check, how does one know there is something else out there? We've made it so acceptable, there's no shame and therefore nothing flagging these kids that "hey, this isn't right". Government cheese.... We have to make poverty uncomfortable enough to want to escape.1 point

I actually wrote the last administration in Ohio offering up a plan. Very simple actually... Public assistance gives you a debit card. The cards can only be used for certain items at the store, certain clothing items at second hand stores, and a pre- determined amount of public transportation. Zero waste in junk food and no cash disbursements. You want cash? Get a job. It's not glamorous, but one can survive until they get a job.1 point

Just give up tonik. Columbesbians are all like this... they think they know what it's like to live in a city with more than a soccer team and a Wendy's.1 point

Again, this thread is why I hate everyone. Started out about helping poor people. Now it's about helping Al Gore make more money.1 point

All hail people who make money, for they are the saviors of of us all! And never mind that global warming bullshit, son... Fuck all that, we gotta get on with the show. And praise Jesus, or you're not a real American patriot, you federalist commie!1 point

I'm pretty sure the Pens got flat out embarrassed by CBJ. They should have kicked the Jackets' asses, but they didn't. Going to game six isn't an ass kicking. Beating a team you should slaughter by only one point in three of the four games they won is not an ass kicking. But watching Crosby cry to the officials was beautiful.1 point

In spite of back and neck issues that'll probably lead to cervical fusion this winter, I joined a fantastic 1000-mile camp-and-ride last weekend.1 point

Pick up 68 in Lexington, take it all the way up across the river and up past Washington Courthouse and grab 71 up there. 68 turns into 62 a bit NE of Lexington. Same road. It adds 30 minutes to the ride. http://goo.gl/maps/G6QGE1 point

Yep, we pass a tax so we can give millions to billionaires so they can pay adults millions to play sports. While we charge kids 500 to 1000 PER sport to play.1 point
