  1. Gotta try this again New to racing not to cars. Been building and restoring cats for 20 years. 2. Just give up tonik. Columbesbians are all like this... they think they know what it's like to live in a city with more than a soccer team and a Wendy's.

  4. If you have a truck and just one bike, there's no need to invest in renting/buying a trailer....at first. However, you'll probably want to sell your house to live in a toy hauler and travel to every track on the planet so your new addiction gets well fed

  6. Totally true. But Monday morning there will be roughly 5000 hungry little kids at our district. We have to feed them man. W can't let them starve. This is America, we take care of our poor...our huddled masses. It's who we are, our used to be. They are little kids, they didn't ask to be born to crack head mom's.

  7. I spent the past two days, Friday and Saturday, riding at the Mid-Ohio track. Prior to this I had only ridden at the track for one day at VIR with PRE and it was a very wet day. I have to admit I was a little concerned at how Mid-Ohio would compare seeing as how they aren't an organization, they handle their own track days through the track. Come to find out my concerns were not justified, I had an amazing weekend. When I got to the track on Thursday night the parking lot was pretty much empty. I was a little surprised since there was a line of 60ish vehicles waiting to get into VIR ten days earlier. I started setting up and I started speaking to one of the coaches, pretty sure his name was Eric, has a multicolored 08 CBR600RR. I am terrible with names. Eric kind of took me under his wing and helped me throughout the weekend. As the weekend went on the coaches / control riders just kept getting nicer and nicer. I don't believe there is anything these people would not do to help a new / fellow rider. Everything they did was positive. The teaching for the novice group was more than I could have ever expected. Friday morning I registered then attended the riders meeting at 8:20. After the riders meeting we met up in the "classroom" for our first lesson. That is where the main instructor, Mr. Clean since I'm terrible with names, introduced us to all of the control riders, established groups (2-3 people per group) and went into the basics. Approximately 20 minutes later we got out of the classroom, got dressed, then got on the track at 20 minutes before the hour. After our first session we put the bikes up, grabbed a bottle of water, then back to the classroom. The main lesson for the first session was to get the feel of the track and to learn how to get off of the track for pit row. For session two the goal is to get around the track without brakes to teach us how to better anticipate turns. This was a bit of a challenge but it was a great learning tool. Time to hit the track again. After the second session back to the classroom. This time they show us some basics about body position. Things most of us know but have a hard time actually doing, myself certainly included. I know I feel like I am hanging off the bike like Rossi. Unfortunately pictures and video prove otherwise. I am working on it though. For our third session we are working on entering the corner a little later and hitting the apex correctly. Time for the track. After the third session it is lunch time. The raceway provided huge subway subs, cookies, chips, etc. You couldn't ask for more. Once lunch was over we went back to the classroom. We reviewed everything we had already covered and talked about braking and acceleration. Simple things that are easily overlooked. Mr. Clean broke things down like you wouldn't believe. It was amazing. This time when we go back on the track we do leap frog. This means that the first lap the coaches lead. The next lap he goes to second and one of the riders go to the front. Then following lap the other rider goes to the front. This gives the riders a chance to be on their own and still have supervision before we are just "let loose" so to speak. It was awesome! After the forth session we go back to the classroom and are told that from here on out we get to go out and ride our own pace. Passing is allowed but only in one place, the long straight. Only "rule" is that it has to be a very safe pass with 15 feet between you and the other rider. On the track as a "free" rider was an amazing feeling. It let you know how much you had learned and how much more comfortable you feel on the track than when you started. The coaches / control riders would jump in front of you any time they thought you could use some help with lines. However they didn't do so in a way that made you feel like an idiot. They were perfect! At the end of the day I was exhausted, mentally and physically. After we were finished multiple coaches came up and gave me feedback. They were able to do so in a completely positive way. When they would tell me that I blew a corner they would take their time and tell me how I should be doing it. They didn't care to do this multiple times with the same two corners either. They understand that we aren't going to be perfect the first, second, or even 50th time. I ended up passing out in the back of my truck around 10:00. I got up the next day to do it all again. The only difference was on day two was that I did the "advanced beginner" course. With this course it is pretty much the same, exception being that you don't really do the drills. This allows you to ride at a little faster pace however still being supervised by the coaches. You still do the classrooms which is good since we were taught so much it is tough to remember it all. It was perfect. To make this day even better we got Pizza and apple pie for lunch. It was another perfect day! I honestly believe to get an equal amount of one on one (or two on one) coaching you would have to spend two to three times as much money. I still don't think you would ever find a better group of people though. To make all of this even more amazing all of these people are volunteers. It was also nice meeting some great forum members, Niles, Grant, Forest to name a few. Clif notes - Perfect weekend, perfect people, perfect coaches, can't wait to come back. Only difference is next time I'll be in intermediate!

  8. Ok ok, Some really drunk dude came into Shawns camper at 4am while we're all sleeping, takes off his boots and pants, pokes me directly in the brown eye with something and laughs, then stumbles up and down the hallway, opening doors looking for a blanket, saying he's freezing. We were all asleep, then half asleep wondering who's voice this is. Then Tim turns on his phone light and tells the dude I think your in the wrong camper, He grabbed his pants and boots and left. It was weird.

  12. If you not using tire warmers you don't need stands if you have kickstand,if you don't have kickstand rear stand is enough. If you have somebody who can help you put your bike on your truck bed ,just get ramp.people at track help you take the bike down, and end of the day loaded.fill up your bike and bring 5 galon gas tank, that should last you all day. Hopefully I'll be back next week at midohio,I will be in coaches garage # 14, if you need any help.

  13. Checked the weather for Logan earlier too. So far it looks like a chilly ride there, then awesome conditions all day. Only 20% chance of rain for now, hoping it stays clear for Saturday but temps come up to the 70's

  14. Made it home with just enough time to power wash and get things put away before the storm hit. Did another 38 miles today, so that makes 109 miles total for the weekend and I did 18 miss by myself Friday so you bubbys only did 53 miles except for the ones that did the one loop twice(you might be closer to 60). Helped a guy today at Dorr run, his chain broke about 2.5 miles from his truck, so my tow strap got some use. I ended up going to P2 instead of Monday creek today, figured I could cover more ground if I did. This weekend I personally covered 98% of all the trails at the Monday creek trail system, only a couple miles herr and there I missed, even did most of the Deer stand loop. Thanks for the good times bubbys, can't wait to get back down but need to get ready for the Gap Trip now. Did anyone find my red and black gloves? Think they were on my trailer fender when I pulled out. Maybe the brown eye fetish guy got them

  15. If you both signed, you're liable for half.. Regardless if she paid it in advance or not... The apartment complex won't care because they got paid, but she can sue you to recuperate the half of the rent she had to pay on your behalf... Best thing to do is just man up and pay the half you committed to pay.. Better than still paying it, wasting pto from work to go to court, and a few hundred in small claims fees

  22. . My wife (a former Columbus city school special ED teacher) and I were just discussing this.... How does a kid grow up not falling into the same patterns? I grew up thinking there were 17 grades of school including kindergarten. College was just part of the expectation. When three generations live off of the government check, how does one know there is something else out there? We've made it so acceptable, there's no shame and therefore nothing flagging these kids that "hey, this isn't right". Government cheese.... We have to make poverty uncomfortable enough to want to escape.

  24. Facts are facts, they cannot be swayed by your opinions. This is really happening, Should I quote the non-responsive "Obama " media? And to add to your comments, it is not true that both were targeted equally. That is pure bullhlsit. They were not. I am not "factually incorrect" as you claim. Read the congressional reports. I am not lying to you, rather I am reporting facts that you may not have noticed about your government. You can wait patiently or not I don't give a good shit either way. Using magley tactics will only get you the same response as he got. You are not thinking.and you are relying on "the media" to tell what is true. Mistake. Oh yea, please link to counting the hairs on my ass, or something, like that is as relevant as your comment. I have to apologist for the last comment. it is un-warranted and just a bit sarcastic. Remember, the topic is which media is not reporting the real news. Try google Lois + lerner + IRS Look it up yourself. i mean after all why trust me any more than the lying media you and Magley seem to rely on? One IRS office... Are you kidding me? Next you'll be talking on "The lone IRS agent" shall we discuss the "grassy knoll" after that?

  25. Take the road just before the Foothills Parkway, Happy Valley RD., take your time on the switchbacks, they are very tricky, especially downhill...up the hill, and then down, is not recommended at higher speeds, a very fun technical section, when you see the bridge that you will cross under at the top, slow down, the pavement is very rough and sketchy...Enjoy!!! You can take it to the Parkway... I prefer to turn around at the church, and ride it back the other direction, feels like a completely different road.

  26. Actually that is the point. It _is_ a conspiracy. One that is now being uncovered. The current administration has been caught suppressing the vote. Which can be argued to have effected at least two major elections. Congress is holding hearings on the IRS scandal that Obama claims didn't happen. He said there isn't a smidgen of corruption at the IRS. We now know there was a widespread effort on the part of the IRS to punish conservatives. We also know that Obama lies. These are facts and cannot be argued with. Lois Lerner is under contempt of Congress for refusing to testify as to who gave the orders. Again a fact. The implication is that she clearly knew that she was breaking the law and is now trying to take the 5th and not rat out her superiors. The media is complicit by not reporting or under reporting this scandal. The pictures I posted show the incestuous relationship that the media has with the White House. Your comments show your hypocritical attitude on this subject. If this had happened under Bush you would have been screaming bloody murder. Because it is happening under Obama you say it didn't happen. No wonder you denigrate any news source other than a party approved one. Squashing dissent is not the mark of a democratic or even a representative form of government. It is the hallmark of a dictatorship. You claim voter ID laws are racist and will suppress the votes of minorities and the underprivileged. All the while real factual disenfranchisement of an entire voter segment is going on and you choose to ignore it. Again, this shows your hypocritical attitude. Freedom is the distance between church and state? Not true if you worship the state.

  31. I've used Boston lager for brats before...huge difference vs domestic light beer. Trick my chef buddy taught me: After you pull the brats from the beer to (hopefully) brown on the grill, reduce the beer down to the consistency of warm maple syrup, then pour into the peppers and onions that you've (hopefully) been cooking in butter and reduce further. You get all the greasy goodness that escaped the brats plus a nice rich malt flavor plus butter (!) Plus the onion and pepper flavors. For the added touch, buy bakery rolls you have to split yourself, butter with real mayo and toast on the grill. You'll get a nice crisp toast on them that will handle the juices from the meat and toppings. This is the best sausage sandwich I've ever had, but it will put you in an early grave.

  35. Unfortunately I live in Columbus, so I can explain this. Columbus can't have real professional sports teams due to the almighty lame ass buckeyes. So we get a hockey team as our professional sport due to the hotbed of hockey talent that is columbus. People in columbus have no idea how nice it is to have real professional teams in football and baseball due to their desire to prop up the importance of the king of the losers "the" Ohio state university. It would be one thing if there was an SEC team in the area that could actually win the big game, but we get stuck with Ohio state. This whole "city" is infected with this madness and it just makes me sad. We could have so much more, but we don't want any team to compete with our local college football team. College football sucks but that is all the columbus has and that is why they picked the only professional sport which cannot compete with college football, Pro hockey. The entirety of the delusion in this small town city is so complete that the people would revolt if anyone proposed actually having a professional team in this town. It is the reason that Columbus is THE city for every test chain restaurant; these people like to eat shit everyday...
