  2. Wash all the road spray and bugs off the Connie from the weekend. Then decided to wire a relay into the ignition switch for the heated grips on the wife's Vstar. So she can't leave them turned on anymore and run her battery down. Not a pretty wiring job but its ran properly with fuses and rely. No-one will ever see it under the side cover. Best part was it was free, some parts and a rely I had laying around.

  4. Second major ride in feejer, and decided to go 2 up. Last Friday since the weather was gorgeous and seeing the wide comfortable rear seat on the feejer, wife expressed her wish to join me for a short ride. Now she hasn't done that after we became parents. To be clear I am still talking about motorcycle riding. And so we scrambled to finish work earlier and off we went for a short 250ish mileloop. She thoroughly enjoyed the ride, the day was beautiful. Never needed extra breaks (hence less pics) and was able to cover many miles in short time and get home before Jr woke up from his ziesta. Handling of the bike was miles better than my first day with a run flat tire. Still need many more hundred miles on it. The suspension changes I made I wonder if it was worth it. I will never know since I went ahead and upgraded everything in winter itself thinking why have down time during our short riding season. Plus I was bored. Any ways here are some pics and a clean ride video with pure sound No tail on fire riding since we are 2 up but still some fun clips. Video: Surprisingly great chicken fries from a gas station. I always get it from there and make an excuse to stop here for fuel. Marathon 152/43 Of course the day finishes with a wash and got some extra little help

  5. From Deals Gap Facebook Announcement for those planning to visit between April 17-29. We had heard rumors that this might happen, but now we have confirmation. Looks like the Dragon will be closed for 30 minute intervals then open for 30 Monday through Friday. Open normal on weekends. Spread the word. *UPDATE* I spoke to them by phone, and they said the road will be closed on both sides of the scenic overlook, very close to where work is being done. So most of the road will still be open, but turning around will be interesting for cars especially as things start to back up. *UPDATE2* We're also hearing now that they won't be shutting down the road EVERY 30 minutes, just for 30 minute stints when they have to work over the road. The sheriff's dept. will be around working traffic though.

  12. I would have suggested you adapt the existing pin until the experience I had two days ago! My Bandit needs a 24mm pin ('03 Hayabusa stem, triple, and forks) so I took the 13mm pin I had and put a stack of 12mm flat washers on it (24mm OD) and welded the ID of top one to the top of the pin. It fit the steering stem perfectly and I pulled the wheel and one fork to replace seals. While pulling the second fork, the pin cracked and folded just below the bottom washer. It didn't break all the way through or my bike would have fallen on the floor. If I had a fairing it would have gotten its nose cracked from the stand folding up. I was able to get a floor jack and the scissor jack from my wife's car under the frame rail on each side and get it back up so I could get the front stand out. I finished the forks and I was very happy to get the wheel back on and remove my hastily jury-rigged lift. Needless to say, I won't mess with a half assed pin again.
