  1. Out of curiosity, if during this [THREAD], someone broke in and stole this firearm, is that your fault?
  2. I'm gonna have to agree with IP here... that's ridiculous. There is a certain amount of accountability that gun owners should have - but since when should we be responsible for the acts that criminals take against us?? I agree that securing your gun is VERY important, but if a CRIMINAL breaks into someone's home, STEALS a weapon, then COMMITS A CRIME, how is that the gun owner's fault??
  3. OK, seriously, I'm pretty pissed off now. I have to pay an extra ~$300 a year in taxes... I'm a student who basically breaks even every month. Looks like I'll need to get rid of my gym membership to make up for it. And then congress gets enough of a raise to basically negate the increase in taxes.
  4. Don't people get tax incentives for being married? ... I agree though, taxes should not depend on your marriage status.
  5. ^^ just check out how much water they need to be prepared too. If you're using them for hiking, you might now want to lug around that extra water.
  6. Harvard Study WOULD BANNING FIREARMS REDUCE MURDER AND SUICIDE? After reviewing a number of international and local statistics on gun ownership and murder rates, they conclude that there is simply no evidence that any form of gun control reduces murder rates. On the contrary, if you are simply to look at statistics, in general, less gun control seems to tend towards 'safer' societies, however, the trend is not predictable due to underlying variations in economy, culture, etc. So what can we do? IMO, start working on fixing our economy and societal norms and start standing our ground against people who say more guns means more violent crime, but are unable to back that information up with factual information that pertains to more than a small demographic. And, what IP said. I'm scared of all the people who took a 12 hr CCW course and think that qualifies them to carry a gun around in public. I hope that people who are considering themselves 'responsible gun owners' take it upon themselves to become skilled at using their guns and thinking about what they would do in different situations should they occur. We (the community supporting guns), need to be straight forward and demanding of those around us, and we need to speak up in a helpful, yet critical manner, when we see a gun owner who is not meeting expectations.
  7. nah, mostly purchase them online. I bought 1 or 2 from cabela's when I was there too. We mostly fish... lol. However, we have gone to oswald's bear ranch and done some hiking near some waterfalls and drove over to pictured rocks as well. We eat at Raber Bay Bar a lot - the cabin is less than a mile from there.
  8. Yep, Raber Bay! There's some really good salmon fishing off of detour. What do you do while you're there?
  9. Well, that might be a while! I'll probably get one together for next week if I have time.
  10. Its a good diversion tactic... dress like an oomp loompa so that is all the victim remembers!
  11. This. I almost couldn't get my car out the other day, not a chance the bike will make it out... not with me on it at least.
  12. Yep! She definitely helped me get through the rest of the class! No clue... It started about an hour after I ate, but I haven't been able to eat a meal since without my stomach cramping up and making me feel sick, but it is getting better. I think food poisoning takes a while to set in, so unless they just did something stupid like dropping cleaning solution in the food, I don't think it would be their fault. Its definitely not the flu either, bc other than my stomach, I feel fine. Hard to say whats wrong.
  13. Yeah, it was pretty good. I wish I wasn't sick most of the day!

    Best tat ever?

I want a tattoo that I can have for like 5-10 years... I like tattoos, but I hate how permanent they are.
  15. I'm in if its not the morning of the 13th... beerfest is the 12th and I don't want to learn CPR while I'm hung over.
  16. hmmm, never heard of them! I like that their boots are kinda stylish and yet have some good ground grip.
  17. Merrell is a great outdoor brand too... so you should go around and see what fits better. A big problem I find with boots is that the front is too stiff and it hurts my shins after walking around for a bit, so I always look for boots with extra cush there.
  18. I grabbed a pair of Columbia waterproof boots with omni heat, and in 30 degrees, i don't even have to wear special socks. I tromp through ankle deep water, snow, mud, everything with these boots, and my feet are always dry and warm. They have excellent traction too. Most notably, I spent several days in Yellowstone last winter and my feet were the only things that weren't cold after a long day of snowmobiliting and hiking. Mine are obviously women's (columbia bugaboot plus), but here are the men's Bugaboot I got mine for around $70... so if you look hard, you can probably find a better price.
  19. I see why you're thinking that, but I think of it as how much 'dirt' can the water absorb. If you have a small load, you need less water to get the 'dirt' out of your clothes, but if you have a large load, you need more water. Maybe it just fills to a certain designated level?
  20. That one had my 2 oldest addresses. I think my problem is that I didn't update my license for a few of my college apts/houses, but I had bills in my name going to those addresses.... I think I can remember the locations, the dates are going to be tricky!
