I have a set of black R6 rims with rotors ready to be mounted with a set of brand new Bridgestone rains. I used these rains for one sprint race in a huge rain storm. These tires are brand new stored in my basement not sitting in a trailer baking. I'm looking at 700 for the complete set.

Does Coaching/Instructing/Control Riding Really Save any Money?
c7fx replied to redkow97's topic in Track is Crack
I totally agree with Blue03636 Most of the coaches have been around the track enough times that getting free track time is not the objective. Hell when it gets right down to it I was spending a lot of money and time teaching others. When I had a free moment maybe a rider would ask me a question or want me to follow them around next session. Sometimes I would get ready to go out to have a couple laps of fun and the session would be checkered before I could pull the warmers. At least I was ready for the next novice session lol. So to answer Redkow97's question Is free track time really worth it? For me it was because I enjoyed people coming up to me at the end and thanking me for helping them out. I love talking to people and I have met a lot of great friends. The bonus to this is the days like we had this spring when the weather said rain and nobody really showed. If you watched the video "coaches play time at Mid-Ohio" this was a day when I think we had like 5 advance riders. Hell I think that day control riders actually out numbered customers. The best part about that day was the weather was perfect. Another benefit is it really keeps you in shape turning a lot of laps can really help when doing solo20's down side is I would usually burn through 7-10 gallons of gas. Finally I would like to say I really miss being out there. It was worth all the money I spent in gas tires and everything else I burned through. -
Shameless plug for KTM Race Orange Events at Mid-Ohio...
c7fx replied to Moto-Brian's topic in Track is Crack
If you never have been on a track before and your riding a bike you never rode before. I think the only logical choice is to get into the novice group. Novice is broken into 5-6 different sub groups depending on riders ability and comfort level. I have had groups in the novice class that were faster than many Intermediate riders. I have had groups that needed more help to get comfortable on the bike and the track. During the day Groups will change as riders comfort level and skills change. Some riders will want to go in the faster groups while others will ask to go to a slower pace. The best part of the novice group is if you are not up to speed with your group someone will pick you up and help you along. I actually loved that part of my job as instructor. Finally I think all who have never been on the track before should do a Novice group. Even if you are Joe MotoGp rider you will walk away at the end of the day with good information to make you a better rider. Like Brian said any group you can get 1:1 instruction just need to go to the garages and ask. We actually love doing this so don't be shy you might be pleasantly surprised how receptive the instructors are. Hope this little bit of information helps -
MPH is way too expensive and not the greatest unless Doug likes you. Check out Northern Ohio Ducati They are not too expensive and did a great job on my two R6's http://northernohioducatiandtriumph.com/dyno.aspx

I wanted to post this after I talked with Brett and really got a great idea what mid-ohio is all about. First I always hear complaints about price. True it's not cheap but the medical staff at the track plus the fact they have life flight on the ready is amazing!!! I don't think you can get a faster response to high tech care from any other track day organization than mid-Ohio. Also the whole organization is truly a family. To prove it to you just come by the garages and talk to anyone with a yellow shirt on. No one thinks they are better and no one uses this as an opportunity for free track time. Control riding can be very hard with little down time. (it did help me with my sol20's). My roll the day of the crash was one I actually loved. I was directed to find the riders who where off pace in the N group and get them up to speed. Second part of my role that day was to work with the I group. I followed an I guy in the morning who was complaining of grip watched and followed him and was able to help him out second part of the day a was working with people who wanted to shave just a little time. It truly is rewarding and will miss this. Anyways thanks for all your well wishes sorry this isn't the best type job but I'm working with a jacked up body and I guess a jacked up mind lol

Thanks for all your thoughts yes ride hard shit happens it's been my passion for as long as I can remember. My doctor fixed me before with the idea that I might walk. Little did he know I got back on the track and did an ok job. I'll fight this but honestly it's a bitch!!! Don't worry I'll keep my big boy pants on

Isn't technology grand I did update my fb an I'll do it here also. Thanks for all the prayers So I was out working with people pulling them around in I group having a blast. Anyways I left one guy to catch up with another. I looked over my shoulder gave the thumbs up and felt a large bang under my bike I figured I hit a knee puck since I was looking over my shoulder. Anyway I put my head down to catch up to the other guy. While working on my own late braking into turn 7. Waited as long a I could grabbed the brakes and had nothing I pumped them a ton had nothing grabbed rear brake and down shifted (I don't know why lol) since I was standing on the rear... My last thought was try and make the turn (which I should have) or go straight into the beach. I chose the beach and tumbled. So I'm sitting in ICU waiting to hear the official read on my MRI... I have heard severed spine and contusion of of the vertebra at 6,7,8 thoracic I have a right upper hemothorax multiple rib fractures and a fractured sternum breathing is awesome lol. Thanks to all and humor like dry toast??? Lol Thanks Brain it's all good Brett texted me and said my brake pad was found in the middle of the track. I can't believe it since there are two r clips holding them in. I wonder if the warmed might have grabbed them when I pull the heaters off.

usually when the R/R goes the bike doesn't run at all. At least thats what happen when my 900RR fried its R/R
-
why do you think its the R/R?
-
Nate usually the deadline is being sold out or when the green flag flies... Brian I hear you I had problems with the front also with strong chatter when pushed hard into corners like one and the left before the keyhole. I'm not sure if the front and rear are in synch causing the chatter or if its the tire...Plus I really need to work on my braking. Going into turn six I really could have stayed on the gas a little longer. At least thats what I would be thinking every lap after I would hit the apex.
-
Thanks Brian, I know what I need to do but my brain isn't letting me do it just yet. Otherwise the red bike is finally running strong!!! I'm still bummed about Steve he would have been in this group for sure. just walk up to anyone in a yellow shirt and ask for help. We truly lucked out both days at Mid-Ohio. The weatherman said rain and Tuesday we got about 10-15 minutes of sprinkles followed with clear skies and warm weather. It goes to show you how crazy the weather can be at Mid-Ohio.
