  1. I'd rather not, but I've decided to put 1 ready to go dirtbike and one of my projects up on craigslist -

    I've put them up here before - 88 CR500 & 88 XR600

Here's links, obviously I'll take a little off for OR members

  2. Anyone install them all around the bike w/o resistors and have them work, but after a minute they shutoff and won't come back on for a few?

I'm guessing the blinker relay is set up for a different load and is heating up a little?

  3. Here's What I did -

History - bought a 1997 Derby GPR 75 as a neat little 2 stroker just for a fun little bike.

On the way to work the engine locks up - rod is one with bearing and crank pin. With pretty colors.

First step - decide on a replacement engine - 250cc 2 stroke engine, water cooled. I bought a 93 YZ 250 Engine kit from ebay complete with pipe, carb, wiring harness, coil, pipe, cdi.

Now here's the real work -

First- I had to cut out the Derby engine cradle

    derbyrollingchassisarrow.jpg

I purchased some 1" box tube steel, and some flat plate steel to create a custom engine cradle to build onto. I had to carefully put the engine in the cradle while I welded tabs and drilled holes to make the motor mounts. I then sprayed painted the cradle with rust resistant, heat resistant paint.

I had to move the radiator, now understand this, the radiator has no fan and has significantly more cooling capacity than the YZ250 pair of rads. Given this is the case, I moved the radiator from the front / behind the front wheel to under the seat - there's ample airflow with the way its setup to help cool while moving, the size alone should be enough to take coare of the cooling while stuck in traffic - if traffic gets crazy slow, I can always kill the engine and kick it over when traffic picks up.

The expansion pipe wouldn't fit with the bends the manufacturer put in it so I had to cut it in several places and weld it back together. I did my best to use gentle angles - hard angles reduce the ability for the sound waves to make it back to the ports properly at the right time and with the right force.

The YZ 250 airbox wouldn't fit in the bike so I put a clamp on filter on the back.

I won't be able to put lower cowls on the bike, but who cares when you stuff 5 X the engine in the thing.

I'll post pix tomorrow of this mutant project as it sits today.

  4. Astronomical! You could buy another bike for that! Yikes!

OK, turbo is off my Christmas wish list.

Lol, I can't deny that, however if you're into racing its nothing to spend $10k on parts and labor to build a race engine.

  5. New aftermarket plastics all white ready to prep and paint - 800+ tax/frt is our retail, your price after OR discount $725+ tax free shipping. This is high quality bolt-on Euro made abs plastics (not PVC chinese non-fitting junk, Korean cheap non-fitting plastics, Latin american / African Fiberglass kits). If you go to our website and check out our Black / flame 07 / 08 series GSXR1000 bolt on no mods is what we're representing

  6. Mortgage is debt, but it's offset by the value of the real property.

    So, 265,000 house - 201,000 mortgage = $64,000 --- WEEEEEEEE I like being in the black

And technically, if you carry term life insurance that should count as an asset too :)

That's an interesting way to look at it... if you're a casualty of this economic crisis (recession, depression, whatever), I guess its kinda moot.

  7. OK, so what do deniers say happened to the several million or so people who used to suck air, then suddenly disappeared? Just curious...?

Maybe they went 'off the grid' :D

But seriously, history has a tendency to repeat itself until the lesson is learned. It would be quite a shame if any political leader started building the infrastructure to allow those kinds of things to happen today - with all the high tech equipment today nobody who was marked could escape - satellite imagery, GPS on phones, internet... I guess the Amish might. The Jews weren't the only people that Hitler was doing away with - old people, birth defects, handicapables, then any other race that didn't come out blond haired, blue eyed and 6 foot tall.

Rant on until the lesson cannot be untaught!
