  1. OLX.COM classifieds are popular in the Philippines, Bangalore, India, Pakistan, Abudhabi, Hyderabad, Malaysia, Singapore, etc. Why anyone in the USA would advertise there I just don't know. Other than scammers. And I'm really surprised to see OLX.COM in English. And where the hell is Hyderabad?
  2. That is a good brush. Some bicycle shops sell it cheaper. Do not clean a chain with the engine running to turn the tire and chain. An easy way to lose fingers. Yes, people lose fingers that way.
  3. Nice road with light traffic. There are two tricky turns. One is a slow tight right-left S turn in a small village. Watch for gravel there. The other is a left turn over the top of a hill that breaks down and around without enough positive slope to stick if going fast. Bikes have departed road in both places. You'll know the one over the hill, you can't see the road ahead till you get there. The road just before that, is running along the top of a high ridge. Really nice view from there. edit: The S turn is CO Road 18 intersection just past SR 206. The hill top turn is at the end of a long straight road through a scrubby area with no trees. It's not marked to slow down, and is tricky if going over the speed limit. This is a back road, there are lots of turns over the tops of hills...
  4. Maybe the chain was black in the first place? One of mine is. Black instead of a color or natural metal. That won't come off.
  5. Kerosene and a nylon grunge brush. Either on the bike or off. Let it soak as best it can. It's an all day job. Pull the chain on the back of the rear sprocket. If it moves so that you can see half a tooth (or more), get a new chain and/or sprocket. Try it in several places on the chain. By now, since you're asking, it probably is not, and a new chain would be good. edit: If it's just a clip master link, take it off and let it soak and clean it. Then decide whether to replace it. The only hard part will be getting back on the front sprocket. The front cover usually has to come off. If it's a rivet link, same thing only more difficult both removing and replacing. But not bad once you've seen how it's done. Grind the two old rivet heads of the master link (or any link) off before trying to push them out. Don't try pushing them out without grinding flush, it will most likely break the tool.
  6. There's both a medieval blacksmith group and a medieval trebuchet group around Ohio that would probably take it. I can ask one of the blacksmiths about it. We used to build little tiny ones and throw stuff around the office.
  7. An ABATE group in New York rode to a parade demonstration against helmet laws. They had a permit to ride the parade without helmets, but chose to additionally ride to the parade without the helmets on. One rider locked his front brake up for an unknown reason, and was thrown over the handlebars and died from head injuries. http://www.9wsyr.com/news/local/story/Man-dies-after-motorcycle-crashes-during-helmet/3hjcjSPXsUCsrtyM9cBn0g.cspx The thought in my head: are the rest of the group responsible for an unlawful death? And how exactly can a statement for not needing helmets be made, when someone needed the helmet while making the statement? And is this one of the cases of the Harley Davidson ABS front brake suddenly locking up? edit: 1983 Harley skidded out of control, no ABS on that...
  8. German-English-Irish. Just like most of the rest of the USA. Mom's side is pure German. Although great grandma was from the German-French border and probably French or part French. Been over to visit relatives. The small town my ancestors come from dates back 600 years or more in Southern Germany. And a lot of the original buildings are still standing. Dad's side goes back to an English soldier marrying an Irish girl during a military occupation of Ireland. Their son was a lieutenant and sailed to Williamsburg Virginia on one of the first ships, and stayed. His descendants migrated to North/South Carolina, Virginia, (no West Virginia back then), Kentucky, and Illinois. No Ohio back then either, it was Indian territory. Some split and went to Georgia. One of those ancestors (Knipe)was a recipient of the Victorian Cross. Another was commander of Fort Pitt during Indian wars around Pittsburgh. Speak Americanese, decent French, some German, some Japanese. Slowly picking up Spanish. I don't care who makes my cars and bikes anymore. It's whatever I want. Guess I don't care who makes girl friends either. Quite a variety. edit: And as far as I can tell, every male, as far back as I can find, served in military service. And that also means on both sides of the American Civil War.
  9. Apps you don't want to look at can be dragged to the trash on my droidx. Apps that come with the phone don't get deleted. They can be restored to the multi desktops later, but it's kinda buried in the settings. You would have to find the app and restore it.
  10. Normally I would agree with that. But all freeways now experience the astounding act of driving the wrong way. And that really is noticed as something new, that didn't exist when freeways were invented and built. I think I'll blame it on a recent rise in the rate of drugs booze and stupidity while driving. There is a flaw in the people.
  11. Missing something here. 116mph was probably max for the cruiser and he was watching you pull away. And he probably wrote it up that way.
  12. Not passed yet. For 21yo and older, no helmet required. But... Legislation has added an amendment requiring those who choose to ride without a helmet to purchase $100,000 in medical payment coverage. oops... The opposing opinion was that the state would have to be paying out for the medical expenses of all the no helmet no insurance high cost accidents. http://www.mlive.com/news/index.ssf/2011/06/abate_not_pleased_with_motorcy.html http://www.freep.com/article/20110630/OPINION05/106300420/Opposing-points-view-Ending-Michigan-s-mandatory-helmet-law-would-cost-everyone-who-pays-insurance-rates http://www.examiner.com/motorcycles-in-national/michigan-helmet-law-repeal-dollars-sense-and-personal-responsibility
  13. Yeah, Florida is pretty lacking in roads that turn or go up and down. Definitely cruiser-ville. Would it be a surprise to know that there are way more elderly retired drivers in Ohio than in Florida? Except maybe during Snow Bird season...
  14. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/motorcyclists-florida-tops-list-of-best-states-to-ride-2011-06-29?reflink=MW_news_stmp From Progressive insurance, they factored in: -- number of good riding days (based on temperature and precipitation); -- likelihood of getting into a motorcycle crash; -- percentage of smoother riding roadways; -- population density; and -- average price for a gallon of regular gasoline and came up with: Progressive's list of best states to ride 1. Florida 2. Georgia 3. Arizona 4. South Carolina 5. Kansas 6. Mississippi 7. Oklahoma 8. Arkansas 9. North Carolina 10. Iowa 11. Alabama 12. Texas 13. New Mexico/West Virginia (tie) 14. Nebraska 15. Tennessee 16. Hawaii 17. Kentucky 18. Louisiana 19. Ohio 20. Utah
  15. Two years ago, my timing was near perfect, and I weaved through stopped traffic on the freeway during the fireworks. Nice view from there, and you can stop where ever. Risky, but doable if you're comfortable on the freeway at night in stalled traffic. Yeah, I know... I'm crazy...
  16. Does anyone realize that Harley built a V-4 liquid cooled bike (NOVA project)? One for sport and one for touring. And never brought it to market. Instead, they promoted the EVO forever theme... And it worked. the NOVA concept was a risk at the time. Promoting what they had cost nothing. So the world could have been very very different, if Harley had decided to take the metrics head on with a V-4 liquid cooled bike. The design concept worked up V-2, V-4 and V-6 designs. http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2007/04/06/harley-davidson-v4-nova/
  17. Somebody just sent me a copy of the Harley Davidson patent for a liquid cooled head. Dated May19. I suppose some of you have already seen it, but it's news to me. No can post it or pics, it's a word doc. Maybe later. Pretty much all over the internet... http://www.cyrilhuzeblog.com/2011/06/21/harley-davidson-water-cooled-heads-patent/ http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2011/06/20/harley-davidson-water-cooled-heads-patent/
  18. Velvet ice cream factory in Utica. You can use Google maps by zooming an area, and then typing in "ice cream". It will show all the ice cream shops.
  19. All of that, for mostly race track. Better feel and action of the clutch, is what I gathered most were after. I was looking to see if any of the fireblade hydraulic clutch parts might bolt onto my engine. Instead I just forgot about it and bought a spare clutch cable to have ready.
  20. true, but when I researched it, I was surprised to find more riders converting from hydraulic to cable. Not cable to hydraulic.
  21. maybe he thought I was saying woot.com maybe I should ask for money and make it spam maybe O-R is spamming O-R, yeah, that works
  22. Yet another Tail of the Dragon video. I liked this one. Quite a collection of attire and styles... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74RQqdUly5U&NR=1&feature=fvwp

  24. 5400 O-R members woot that is all
  25. At the end of the Vietnam War, all us rear echelons started marching and training and exercising. The threat was to send all of us on the island of Okinawa and some other places, to Vietnam and increase the combat level. Threat was noted, negotiations got a little easier. Timing is everything sometimes. The point is, nothing happened, but the training had double results. The military gets more for their money that way, by training when potentially needed somewhere, the somewhere calms down a bit and it isn't necessary. An example: Yeah, 10,000 Marines is a good number. When compared to the previously 50,000 Lybian Army, half of which are draftees. (And 40,000 untrained militia.) And realize this is 10,000 support troops, for an extended expeditionary stay somewhere sometime. The amphibious combat troops are already off shore somewhere waiting. Most of the training is to determine what needs repaired to be good to go. The rest is practice in packing up, moving, and setting back up.
