  1. Unfortunately, the standard method of income for a number of major companies, is to sue or threaten to sue other companies for capital gain. And it works. Apple leads in this technique.
  2. I remember temps over 100 with near 100% humidity, somewhere far away. That can be a heat index on up toward 190F. This is nothing. You can't get out in the direct sunlight in conditions like that.
  3. I get the impression Canton is a dangerous place for multiple reasons. But I think most of the crime stats place Columbus at the top of the list.
  4. Sounds like running lean or rich, or back and forth. If it's Briggs & Stratton (what isn't) get a carb kit that included the diaphragm, gasket and spring (along with a o-ring, and plastic thing that connects the carb to the intake tube on the engine). The fuel diaphragm (and spring) does the job of a fuel pump. In a very simple way. The diaphragm wears out, gets brittle, won't work, starts surging, etc. edit: I'd do new carb for $18 bucks. That's cheap. When mine died I went to Lowes and got a 100 buck cheap lawnmower. Path of least resistance.
  5. Appliance411 look up year from make model and serial number I'd say from the late 40s or early 50s.
  6. Actually, I've been wondering how a case like this would be handled in other countries. From what I know, in Japan such a case would have very serious results. Probably life in prison, for lack of a death penalty. Drunk driving with injuries to another is very serious there. What happens in Germany?
  7. It's actually the density and humidity that makes the difference in performance. Dense cold air allows a greater amount of air to charge the cylinder. The humidity is best at 100% for performance, it's oxygen and hydrogen and will be used up. So the worst condition would be hot and dry air. And it can be noticed, but usually I think it's the lower atmospheric pressure at higher altitude effecting carburetors that would be most noticeable. Regardless of what the temperature or humidity might be. The carburetor just won't compensate for conditions like fuel injection will. But ambient temperatures or lack of a cooling wind flow, that raise the heat of combustion inside the combustion chamber too high, will also cause a reduction in performance from poor combustion of the fuel being burned. I've had air cooled engines in the past overheat and literally stop running. Pushing the bike off the road and waiting for it to cool down was very common back then. It's why we all wanted oil coolers, back in the day. I haven't seen that happen on any newer bikes. I have seen a few high compression water cooled bikes get really hot when stuck in traffic. It can get hot enough to puke coolant, and might as well just stop and cool off. Harley riders say that their rear cylinder will switch to firing every other combustion stroke when the engine temps get too high. I haven't looked that up to see if it's something new and/or true. edit: I do hear a difference in exhaust sound in hot weather like this. It basically reminds me not to goose it and raise temps any higher than they already are. From experience with cars, I've always taken it easy on my engines on the hottest and coldest days. That's always when the engine suffers the most, and tries to grenade.
  8. Freeways are way safer with less "oh shit"s. Going down is about the same, doesn't matter much, it's the sudden stop that gets you. Less "objects of a sudden stop" to encounter on a freeway. Biggest worry is someone behind you running you over when you're down.
  9. high compression water cooled bikes will darn near shut off in stalled traffic. low compression water cooled will get by with the radiator fan running. old school air cooled, well... sorry about your luck. Park it over there and wait a while.

  12. Saying that it's not a crime because the victim did not prevent it, is a bit of a stretch for a defense.
  13. The dog's name was cocaine. She's lucky she wasn't arrested for "shooting cocaine". 16. "Twin-jet Lear 45 aircraft departure from Orlando at 1:04 a.m. Sunday morning arriving in Columbus, Ohio at 2:51 a.m. Local news was able to see she didn't get off the plane." So the odds are: 1/2 didn't get on plane in Orlando, went somewhere else 1/2 did get on plane and somehow sneaked off the plane in Columbus There was not enough flight time to have stopped somewhere on the way here. My guess; Most people don't rent a Lear Jet for fun. She was on the plane and landed in Columbus. Only a 50% chance she stayed here. Might have already left the state. edit: Paparazzi thinks Anthony is more likely to be staying in northern Ohio, near Canfield, Youngstown or Austintown.
  17. odd, my Motorola DroidX has had zero problems... both Froyo and Gingerbread

  23. @Ohio1959 I read all the news reports when it happened. They all had it wrong. That was because the responders and police had it wrong. The investigation initially had it wrong also. But that changed. The news now presents the correct information. Which everyone on here was pretty quick to catch. Take the blame elsewhere.
