  1. Facebook has opted everyone into an automatic face recognition program. You can turn it off, but they still collect and keep the data. This will be the only national or international database to recognize people from photos. Creepy... Do this: upload random pictures of trees and animals and stuffed toys and tag them as yourself. That's right, I'm not a big fan of Big Brother "run by private enterprise".
  2. Sears Craftsman has indeed gone downhill. And so has a lot of other brands and sources. Choose wisely. I've not had any problems with mine, and yes, I torque everything and occasionally tear an engine down. Not near as much engine work as I used to do. Accuracy? I took all my torque wrenches to the aviation school where they had calibration. All passed. Both the beam and the clickers. Most everyone had equipment that passed. Which probably means within 5%, I forget the limits. If you abuse, break, or drop a torque wrench, it needs to be calibrated or replaced. Having said all that, the last time I used my Craftsman inch-pound wrench, I didn't like the way it was working. It seems to be over torquing, and I will have to check it out before trying to use it again. I sense something wrong. It's only what, 20-30 years old? edit: I've been buying a lot of tools at Harbor Freight and Lowes and even Ace hardware. And I don't like some of the Kobalt tools. Junk.
  3. I think if you look at specs, the 1200 doesn't weigh any more than the 883. A compelling reason to upgrade the displacement. The dry weight reported for both, from various sources, will unfortunately vary from 500 to 550 depending on where you look. edit: I tried to pin the weight difference down a couple of years ago, and I came up with the 1200 is 5 pounds more....
  4. Use discount code SEARS2011 for $5 off any order over $50.
  5. Double action (DA) revolver, yeah sometimes. Don't drop it on the hammer. Single action (SA) revolver, carry one under the hammer and you'll eventually try to put a hole in yourself. But it really applied to the old western revolver with the touchy cartridges they carried.
  6. Depends on the type of weapon, the user, and the threat condition. That goes double for the guy walking behind me.
  7. I'll eventually have the pelican hard boxes I bought, on one of my 919s, for a mini bagger. It will probably look really nerdy, but completely functional... edit: quick release mounts, so I can change quickly...
  8. Only if you're in or around a school bus: http://www.stnonline.com/home/top-stories/3440-tsa-webinar-pushes-benefits-of-security-training-exercises-for-student-transportersThe school districts must specifically ask for this training. http://www2.nbc4i.com/news/2011/jun/15/4/it-takes-5000-miles-k9s-blackhawk-helicopters-trai-ar-541844/
  9. Free Bump that's free bump, not Free Bird... put your pocket lighters away...
  10. Not on here since May 26, 2011 Not on here since Sept 11, 2009
  11. At last! I wondered how long that would take. It was one of the stupidest moves I'd ever seen. For the record, even as a special forces records clerk, I didn't get to wear a green beret. Earned, not issued... (edit: besides, I like soft cap. I even liked to wear a US Marine soft cap just to piss people off...) note: soft cap = cover, that's what they called them. I know, it's a hat...
  12. Julie you better get over here and speak for yourself. Your fans await you. You must now speak. Don't make me dig out old photos of you and post them...
  13. yes, it was gen. Now that it's too late, Sears now has a sale. Perhaps she'll double down on the tools. I would. One of my favorites is the Sears metric add on set. Lots of metric stuff. Mostly all sockets and wrenches. I haven't seen that one on sale lately. If it even still exists. edit: and I find lots of lost tools in junkyards. Every time I go, there's decent tools lying around, that people lost. Just have to watch for them.
  14. apparently only if he's flapping his arms...
  15. Passed a guy on 161 last night. Seat all the way forward, seat tilted way back... it looked like he was sleeping... Dogs... knowing dogs scientifically can't run faster than 35mph, I let a St Bernard charge out of a back yard and chase me on Summit. I'm doing 35mph in 3rd gear, and the dog overtakes me, opens it's mouth, and goes for my leg. Lift leg, hit gas... What do scientists know anyway...
  16. We rode into Bolton Field when the aircraft was on tour there. With lots of Julie's help, she used to work there.
  17. I checked the tail number, it's the Liberty Belle we took pictures of motorcycles with. Goodbye old girl, It's sad to see you go. Everyone got out ok, it had an airborne fire, and landed in a farmer's field. Photos in Denver Post
  18. pull that #3 plug out and ground it, see if it sparks. Put thumb or finger over spark plug hole and see if it has compression at all. If ok, pull carb and fix it... btw, if I remember right.... #1 and #3 fire at the same time, on both compression and exhaust. You can swap the two and see if the cold cylinder moves. If it does, I'd say the spark plug wire is bad. I replaced mine with NAPA parts. But to do so, I replaced the coils with hot spark stuff.
  19. 20. JULIE JULIE JULIE................... hi
  21. I flew on a C-130 with an M-16 and two million on a pair of skids. Don't look at me, it all made it to where it was going. btw... it's very cold in the back of a C-130...
  22. The change in weight combined with the heat of the air in the remaining structure probably caused it to rise. It did rise. This was a Lightship Europe blimp chartered by Goodyear. Not sure who manufactured it, but probably Goodyear to Euro specs. The Goodyear airships in the USA are a different design, according to Goodyear. edit: nope, it's not a Goodyear blimp, they only chartered it. Built by American Blimp Corporation. A-60 model. Hillsboro, Oregon facility. Sold to Lightship Europe. Part of The Lightship Group, a merger between Virgin Airships and Lightship America.
  23. hush, she sold her bike and is looking for a new one...
  24. It's about 1800 feet between the hospital curve and 770 Kinnear. Too far, that can't be it. Still doesn't make sense. High speed tank slapper or flat tire or unconscious or something...
  25. Right about when the adrenaline shock of riding through the hospital S curve had worn off... I'm not a big fan of that part of 315, car or bike. Bad pavement, and people struggling to maintain their lanes...
