  1. free protein in your water! yay! (nothing is free, the water bill will now increase)
  2. dunno, but I had the right side cover on my Nolan blow off. Darn things are expensive to replace.
  3. Noticed Boston and Denver already passed similar laws. And NYC is trying to pass amendment to allow inspection of PARKED motorcycles.
  4. errr... comments says Illinois increased the licensing fee for motorcycles to pay for it.
  5. But it's in Illinois! Listen up Ohio, how about free motorcycle classes for Ohio riders. At least for the first time riders under 25 or something. Sounds like a good idea to me. http://www.bnd.com/2010/09/05/1388912/state-officials-to-offer-free.html
  6. Japanese Rider Killed in Motorcycle Crash in Italy
  7. Nope, probably not made anymore, but there's 149 of them for sale in Central Ohio. Gun World, New Albany, and Powder Room list them at just under 1100. Found 46 stores within 100 miles. And that's just the one over stocked model. There's several other models that are selling faster. edit: The double action and the single action tactical are either restricted or out of production. The single action IOM (officer's model) is out of production. The current variant of the IOM is the USG for civilians and looks like it's in current production.
  8. Wrong on this one. 200,000 Droids are sold every day.
  9. I don't know if cylinder head part numbers are visible anywhere, but this is the numbers for 2005 and 2006. 11008-0039 11008-0062 edit: I get the impression from the internet that the Kawasaki dealership can look up engine numbers and match them to a frame VIN. That might also let you check for stolen.
  10. If it's a 17 digit number, it most likely is the VIN. I don't know what year it started, but modern engine numbers are mostly the same as the frame VIN. Have you considered asking a Kawasaki shop what they can do? edit: Nope, sorry. From what I see, the engines have either an 8 or a 13 digit number, or both. Not the same.
  11. More. Some 900 to 1000 riders rallied for a benefit ride for Kristin Skowood, the only survivor. http://www.fox43.com/news/wpmt-ride-for-kristin-skowood-pg,0,7931346.photogallery
  12. The taxi driver was diabetic, and will be prosecuted for fault. http://www.ldnews.com/news/ci_15984066 http://www.whptv.com/news/local/story/Taxi-driver-charged-in-deadly-June-motorcycle/XXp7e1vM7EaM1B81dOc51g.cspxhttp://www.wfmj.com/Global/story.asp?S=13097167 http://www.fox43.com/news/wpmt-cab-driver-lancaster-manslaughter,0,3647568.story
  13. Try this, I think it's free. National Insurance Crime Bureau https://www.nicb.org/theft_and_fraud_awareness/vincheck/vincheck And these for VIN decoding (tons of these are not free, but they look like it at first): http://search.dmv.org/dmv/vin-number-check http://www.motoverse.com/vinDecoding.asp Other than that, a lot of engine numbers match the frame, and can be checked on a parts web site. A good parts website will show what range of serial numbers were for each year. The shop manual often does also.
  14. I am so tempted... I see a street fighter...
  15. Rode to work. Barely rained. Don't care. Will ride in rain.
  16. Yeah, but who trained who? Dog has to be very smart.
  17. You going to do a rain dance for us? edit: I looked it up. It's D0 - abnormal dryness. Not a drought yet...
  18. Caught on a police dash cam behind the accident. 11alive.com Good luck getting the video to play... 7KWWL video
  19. Apparently Ohio doesn't have high school football teams either... A friend in Texas just went to a HS game that had 35,000 people in the stands.
  20. I noticed the trees on campus are really dry and thirsty. Leaves are turning brown and falling off. We need some rain.
  21. Hitting someone in the head with a club is such a serious offense, that I remember attackers getting life sentences for attempted murder.
  22. It is also the first Marine Corp flag, as far as I can tell. Also used as a US Navy naval jack. Until replaced by snake on red/white stripes w/motto. Popular and common during the American Revolution.
  23. Either a company credit card like mentioned, or a cash advance per trip or per month for your travels. Settle when you get back. I remember big bucks in cash being advanced for engineers that were traveling. Reimbursement can probably be submitted on line now? Mine can, except that scanning the receipts would be a pain. A good chunk of it should actually be per diem payable in advance. I would save reciepts for almost everything. Don't forget to try and let your credit card know you are going to be there. Some of them have bad habits about goofing up and shutting it off.
  24. Get something the size of a two or three D cell MagLight. It's a baton. It works. No one will question your having a big honking heavy MagLight. You can even get a rack type mount for a MagLight to mount it somewhere. edit: at one time I could find in Columbus code the limits on knives. I no longer can find it. It was something like 3.5 inch blade max. Bowie knives, of course, have special mention as deadly weapons in most city law. As far as I can remember, ASPs, numchucks, bullwhips, throwing stars, etc, are all considered weapons and at least subject to confiscation. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=359201 http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=490355 http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ZBB663-1.html http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ZBB661-1.html http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ZBB660-1.html I did see a sale for two not long ago. Two sizes.
