  1. Actually, it's easier to get in trouble with a Bowie knife on your belt. There is a clear law against that. And for other large blades, like Katanas, which is probably why we never see Ninjas walking around on the street...
  2. I've walked on that track. It's so freakin' steep in the banking, you can't stand up. And Bristol is even more of a banking angle.

  4. The entire problem with OC is the "inducing panic" in a public place. Sort of like jay walking, it's hard to get around that one.
  5. This happened last Sunday night - 5pm - June 27th, in Lancaster PA, and it's now starting to make national news. Investigators are still trying to figure out what happened. Three motorcycles collided with a taxi van in Lancaster, PA. Witnesses said it sounded like three shotgun shots going off. There was only one person in the van, but all three motorcycles were double up. The van was hit in the front and both sides. The van caught fire. All of the motorcycle riders except for one passenger died. And she's still in critical condition in the hospital. Later investigation appears to show that the van went left of center into the motorcycles. Speculation is that the taxi van driver had a stroke or seizure. Confusing the investigation is a wire from poles hanging down across the road, at the scene of the accident, and it's unknown why. Investigators have assembled a team to determine what happened, and don't expect results for weeks or months. This is a terrible accident, and I think we can all say our sympathies and condolences are with the families in their time of grieving. 6. Probably Conservatives, Lancaster CA is up in the high desert, and the Eastern part of California is mostly Conservative. Dunno... edit: looked it up, Lancaster is the home for most all the aviation employees at Edwards Air Force Base in CA. All of the city and state politicians appear to be Republican. But it is California, so they are probably still Liberals. lol Lancaster is on the East side of Los Angeles county.

  9. Yes, a bike should be locked down whatever way possible. But the real theft deterrent is to have an loud audible alarm on it. Second best is a motion activated light that covers the area the bike is in. Both will generally chase a thief away. They don't like attention.
  10. Nope, but that day back in the 80's when the entire display blew up, I could feel the ground shake over in Whitehall.... hahaha, just sayin' ok ok, I used to go when I was a kid, I lived near there. But I haven't seen the fireworks in Reynoldsburg for years.
  11. This is a clue. If the two that are rich (or lean) are running off the same ignition coil, you probably have a primary or secondary ignition problem. Regardless of what was adjusted out. Electrical should always be checked and verified first, when hunting for engine problems.
  12. This also. But with poor electrical at the plugs, sometimes it bogs, but for me it mostly crackled and dimmed the headlight. The headlight going dim is a distinct clue that the amp output/battery is bad. And 8 volts at the coil is weird... Where was the voltage drop? Something got hot... I once had an old plug wire come off the plug cap and wave around at me. Replaced them all with home made NAPA gear. Worked a lot better. Actually, 6 to 12 years is a long time for plug wires. A 1977 bike is... 33 years... They should be replaced. It will run better.
  13. I thought all the same things about left turn only. Then I went to Columbus Motor Speedway and watched some races. Really really cool stuff... It's better live, and at a small track. And maybe even better with local drivers...

    tracers?

lol, quite true... shall we explain to everyone about those chamber pressures again? Factoid: try not to use mil-spec ammo (.556) in civilian rifles of the single shot, lever action, and bolt action type. It's not good for them. Factoid 2: some people on the internet say these tracers get their bullets hammered back into the shell casing. Do not fire any round that the bullet has seated itself farther down into the case. It raises the pressures to an unsafe level.
  17. ok, I understand now. I'm going to have to stop saying "C-bus" I'll have to retro back to "CowTown" mods, feel free to change title to "Cols", to avoid confusion...
  18. No, I don't think so. It's not a name I recognize, anyway.

    tracers?

XM856 for .223. (edit: 5.56mm, not .223, as Todd#43 pointed out) Easy enough to find, it's about 8.50-13.00 for a box of 20. Quality will vary, it's rejected military ammo.
  22. I'm here to say that a too tight valve adjustment (especially an exhaust valve), will cause a bike to bog down, just off idle throttle, when it warms up. Air-cooled are touchy about this. Been there, done that. Some factory valve specs on old bikes are too tight for air-cooled. Generally I won't set an air-cooled exhaust valve at minimum gap. That never works out well for me. I'd rather set it at maximum, or a middle.
  23. oops, search over. http://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/tools/category/syncpro_sup__trade___sup_/ try these: $5.88 set of 4 (if it's 6mm) http://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/partno/08-0168/ For 5mm, you might have to buy two sets of these: ($9.22x2= $18.44) or just cut the two long ones to be the short length, which is what I would do... http://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/partno/08-0013/ edit: they are short and long for a reason, I think. Some bikes must need that.
  24. Professional mechanic's tools: Not cheap... http://www.motorcyclecarbs.com/CARBURETOR_SYNCHRONIZATION_ADA_P4995.cfm 6mm set $46.44 at cheapcycleparts.com, and 64.95 SMRP also 5mm set (two instead of four) http://www.motorcyclecarbs.com/CARBURETOR_SYNCHRONIZATION_ADA_P4996.cfm edit: You better run a 5mm and/or 6mm thread into the hole and find out which one it is. And this is why no one will stock them for sale. No one will buy them at this price.
  25. http://www.carbtune.com/ This is in the UK, but something similar should be around in the USA. Both 5mm and 6mm are available.
