  1. Carberry V-Twin Enfield; soon to enter production in Australia 1936 BSA Y13 V-Twin. I never knew BSA did that...
  2. LOL! watch the video clip at the top of this page: Enfields in 1943 from the movie The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp
  3. Holy crap! That is so cool. I was going to say I could track him down, but he quit the teaching job at OSU. I graduated/worked in the department he was working in. I remember doing just that, making casting molds and models. But nothing near as complex as what he's done. I'm not surprised it took years to accomplish. edit: A little googling and... Ha, this guy works right down the street from me. I'll watch for him and his bike. If he ever rides it to work. Dunno.

  5. lol, wait... that only worked with the British, who were so darn logical and honorable. It didn't work on the Japanese, Pakistan, Bangledesh, Kashmir, China, Sri Lanka, etc. By all accounts, The USA is quite peaceful compared to the quantities of warfare in India. Just sayin'... 6. Not everyone thin is bulimic. Ectomorphic metabolism - thin, more muscle and less bone, born that way. Or sometimes hypertrophic metabolism - eats a lot to no effect, sometimes seen after an injury. Not hyperactive metabolism, that's a disorder. Anyone that has seen me eat knows I won't be gaining weight anytime soon. It took me a long time to gain some muscle and get above 145 pounds at 5'9". My record low was 125 pounds on return from the Army. I got back to 145 pounds in only a week or two. Weird...
  7. You are allowed to sound misogynistic if you can use it in a sentence and spell it correctly...
  8. Actions that support the USA, are of value only when that information can reach the populations in question. In many places that just isn't allowed. Punishable by death, of course. Several cases come to mind. NATO rescuing an entire nation of Muslims from genocide in Kosovo. USA and multinational (including Muslim countries) forcing Iraq out of Kuwait. Our continuous aid and support of Indonesia, the largest Muslim population in the world. (Australia is also a strong supporter.) The freedom of speech and religion that allows and encourages Muslims to be part of America or any other free country. Anyway, this move to a New York City trial isn't about whether it was a criminal act or an act of war. It's about New York City deciding the punishment for the crime done in their city. It does portray the individuals and the group movement as criminal, instead of jihad and act of war. Which is probably the best idea. Even though I don't think it should be that way. Have to keep the big picture in mind. And bear in mind that a fair trial isn't much of an issue, for an individual that freely admits the crime. Only their sanity is at question.
  9. It seems to be the status quo. 2 and a half of mine held down ops for the entire Summer. Not counting absences.... argh That should have been 5 or more employees. There were many days I supported ops alone, with one part timer.
  10. Any Browning, Savage, Winchester, Ruger or FN in .308 or 30-06. Bolt Action. Some of the Steyr rifles don't cost much more than the others. Try to find a used rifle to save some money. Preferably one with only a few rounds fired. Or try to find a discontinued model if buying new. Bargain rifle: Smith & Wesson i-Bolt in 30-06, $389.99 and up; I don't know anything about them Discounted rifle: Browning A-Bolt in 223WSSM or 243WSSM or 7mmWSM; $499 to $599 and up Closeouts: Remington Seven, .300WSM; 589.99 and up Interesting option: Styer ProHunter, 30-06; $649.99 and up Those are absolute lowest price you might find one at. Plus tax. Like at the gunshow in Hara Arena in Dayton. Great place for low prices. This time of year, the deer rifles will cost you more. (the 30cal stuff) Might want to wait a bit before looking. Also means there might be some bargain used rifles soon. When hunting season is over. Personal preference: Winchester or Browning in .308 or 30-06, but the Savage is very interesting. I also like lever actions.
  11. "i've put about 1,000 miles on it since i got it back" = it barely runs "the theft was not put on insurance" = didn't have insurance "it has a clean title (in hand)" = bought it used and paid cash "front wheel is bent a lil bit to from the theft but its fine" = no it isn't "new stater, battery, k&n filter, fresh oil, ngk plugs, manual cam chain tensioner" = they ran the piss out of it before stripping it "tires still have some miles on them but not sure how many" = tires are shot "more torque than any other gsxr 600" = without all those other missing parts
  12. I thought engine rebuild shops would rebuild the entire engine (V-8) for around $1200-$1500. Has it changed? Has that price gone up? Dunno... And as cheap as I am, I've done head gaskets on V-8s for a few hundred bucks and a lot of work. It's not hard, it just takes tools and time. Gosh, the old days are gone. People used to throw engine rebuild parties, and pull and rebuild an engine over a weekend.
  13. It should always be unloaded. It is permissible to buy a firearm and take it home. Or transport it to another place. The box or case it was purchased in is sufficient for doing that. When in doubt, just disassemble it. You can transport it any way you want if you do that. Not sure about zip ties through the action, but it sounds like a good idea. To be reasonable, put the firearm in a place that is the least accessible by the driver. Not under the front seat. That's a big mistake. In the trunk is always the first choice. I'm not a big fan of the leave it in plain sight thing. That just invites theft or panic. Be aware that many jurisdictions consider a loaded magazine to be the same as a loaded firearm. Even if the firearm isn't there.
  14. Shoot, I'd leave it naked and streetfighter it, but that's just me... You'd have difficulty reselling it if you did that.
  15. In the modern age of Weapons of Mass Destruction, a single person with a single weapon, can declare war and win. All our definitions and traditions of the past, apparently do not apply. Confused yet? It's like the villain in a comic book. They don't really exist in real life, or do they? The world will probably have to recognize the fact, that a rogue agent (individual), without a state (country), can commit war acts. A proper venue is probably the United Nations. Which has rules for non-state actors. It's called Maritime Law. It's for use against rogue pirates on the high seas. As well as who can do what, outside of international boundaries. But it can apply to any actor outside of international boundaries. It's probably what we would use if attacked by aliens from space. But this act of aggression on 9/11, was not on the "high seas", it was within the boundaries of our own country, and the United Nations apparently has nothing to say about it. It would be similar in tradition, of a pirate ship firing cannons at a city along the coastline. Traditionally the response is for the country attacked, to hunt them down, on the high seas, and kill them. (Or capture and execute them.) An interesting fact in Maritime Law, is that hiring mercenaries (or another country or even other pirates) to track down and kill the pirates, is an appropriate and legal response.
  16. What we're really asking is what is the definition of "Act of War". It's for the people, our people, US citizens, through our representatives in Congress, to decide what an act of war is defined as. We haven't actually done that lately, redefine what an act of war truly can be. We tend to take it on a case by case basis. By responding to a possible act of war with a "Declaration of War" in return, the question is bypassed. Tradition is that "we will recognize it when we see it". This becomes difficult when a "non-state" commits the act. What is disturbing, is that by switching from a military tribunal, to a public trial, either the citizens and/or the representatives have declared "It is not a War". War can be defined as a brutal act of aggression on an international or internally civil level. In all wars, all confirmed acts of violence outside bounds of propriety, as defined by rational humans, are tried by tribunal, found guilty, and executed. That applies to both sides that are fighting. We can and do execute our own troops as necessary. By refusing a military tribunal in favor of a civil trial, the USA has basically said that it was not a act of violence outside the bounds of propriety committed as an international act of aggression. The exception shall be, if the civil trial decides that is should be defined that way, and returns the accused to the military tribunal. Traditions have their place in society. To break tradition and do something different, has consequences for the future. It is not meant to be a case by case basis, it's meant to apply forever.
  17. Intent. One intends to kill 10 people. The other intends to declare war.
  18. I missed this part. Good job getting it done. That's funny right there, yelling (raising hell) at them. Doesn't always work out that way.
  19. Mine is a textile jacket, the Cortech jeans jacket I wear. Heavily armored, but a bit light on the back armor. More can be added. Mesh jackets give me the willies, I can't figure out how anything that thin can do the job. Sure, Kevlar mesh, but I'd just get the kevlar under stuff and wear it under whatever. Like the dragon jeans kevlar under gear; shirt and pants. And Jcroz, stop with the wheelie stuff. Spend the first year trying not to do wheelies. Worry about staying alive instead. That there is really good advice from a guy with more than 40+ years on two wheels. Anyone and any bike can do a wheelie, it's un-doing a wheelie that gets whacked up. And getting plates and insurance is extremely good advice, regardless of how it's presented, or from whom. Man up and just do it.

  21. wow, did they have any adult Belgian Malinois that they mentioned? I like them...
  22. Thanks, I'll check some of these out. Just starting a Trance/Dance/House collection. Got several Armin Van Buuren (and others) podcasts that run 30 minutes each. And a set a Russian girl gave me of her "best of" house/club collection. I'm liking it. All in 320kbps, of course...
