  1. Shoot, I had one of those today. A little black sports car stalled out in the left lane. I got way too close before flicking around it. No brakes. Bad idea on my part.
  2. Exactly. A human isn't much different than a deer. (No offense intended to humans.) You don't want to hit one, and you will find it difficult to avoid one that is in the roadway. Most riders haven't developed quick avoidance skills. Worse yet, I keep hearing that riders freeze up in most accidents, and don't hit brakes early enough, AND fail to maneuver at all. When the maneuver would have avoided a collision entirely. I cannot count how many times I've used the entire roadway, both sides, including sidewalks to avoid a collision.
  3. The rapidshare has been refusing to download during the daytime for a week or so. I've had to wait till later in the evening to get it to work. It keeps saying no download slots available, get the premium, heh. We're allowed to try every two minutes, which gets old in a hurry when it don't work. edit: you don't have to be a premium member, just keep trying the free one.
  4. I'm pretty sure the problems with Iran and any other country in the Middle East goes back to the two Persian Empires. Where Persia (Iran) over-ran and destroyed everything in the Middle East. As said, they have long memories. The USA is the only country that I can think of that was invited by request to intercede in the European colonization of the Middle East. (Long time ago.) Mostly because the USA didn't have any colonies there. And we didn't make any friends with the European countries for any of the efforts.
  5. oops, we're ignoring the Afghanistan Northern Alliance, which is 56% of the population. Fighting with us then (edit: against the Taliban and Al-Qaeda), and still is. A few thousand special forces to spot for aircraft, and hunt down Bin Laden. Iraq was divisions of armor to fight divisions of armor. Both were appropriate use of forces.
  6. WMD, geez... according to the United Nations, the WMDs in Iraq were found between the two Iraqi wars, by the United Nations inspectors. Nobody cares.
  7. Actually terrorists of the sort we're speaking about, started with a single Egyptian student in the USA. And returned to Egypt, to start a fanatic trend. It quickly exported to the "Brotherhood" in Syria. And of course, crossed borders into Iraq and Saudi Arabia (and Yemen). Then leading to even more of such in most every country in the world. In particular, Afganistan, due to the war against the Soviets, and the lack of local enforcement of any kind. Money talks there.
  8. ummm, I'm pretty sure most wars are ideological in basis. And even to the extreme, an ideological war can be fought and won or lost. What is meant is that some groups will never forget and fight for multiple generations. Sort of like Hatfields and McCoys. And oddly, if you examine all wars fought in the MiddleEast, where water is scarce, all conflict occurs at or near ... water resources. So perhaps the concept of ideology isn't the main issue at all. Or we can just say that wars can't be fought without water. A point to make is that everything isn't as it appears to be. Troops that fight for ideology can be at a significant disadvantage. As usual, exceptions to everything, sometimes they win.
  9. hahah, careful what you wish for. Bear are moving back into Ohio from Pennsylvania.
  10. Considering that most enlisted get paid a minimum wage and eat dirt, they pretty much do deserve a bonus for success. Particularly in educational benefits. This country is built on industrial leadership developed from military service.
  11. Hummer, argh. It gets worse. I want a BMW, that is made in ummm.... China. What part of China is German?
  12. I know, and I totally agree with you. I do understand the conditions along the borders there. But I was surprised at the list of conflicts. Negotiations do not always work, regardless. As you point out, it takes two parties to fight, not just one. Oh, and apparently the major Iraqi oil fields were given to China. Something I didn't expect.
  13. Or we could do what other countries do for this, put them in jail and forget about it. No trial. Probably way cheaper in the long run.
  14. Honestly, I'd rather see someone work with a soft tail for a bobber. And finish up with something that looks like these: Blue Collar Bobbers
  15. Andy Ibbott "Performance Riding Techniques: The MotoGP Manual Of Track Riding Skills" Published by Haynes Publishing | Publication date : November 2006 | ISBN : 1844253430 | PDF | 175 pages | English | 48.5 MB sorry, link is dead... looking for a new one... Rapidshare has been cranky lately about allowing downloads. Best to try late in the evening, not during the daytime. edit: Not so cranky anymore, just click the "free download". If you like the book, buy a copy. Otherwise people will stop writing books!
  16. Some of the old 22s and youth gauge shotguns (16ga and 20ga) are very collectable. Some can be worth more than they look like they are worth.
  17. 7SKXC.750VA1 is the EPA engine code for emissions check for one of the 2007 Suzuki engines. The number 750 may or may not designate the engine size. Some do, some don't. It's not a VIN number...
  18. Suzuki VIN Decoder Suzuki engine/frame codes Somewhere in the VIN it will say: N7xx for a 600 or R7xx for a 750 N = 500—599cc R = 700—749cc 7 = 4 stroke 4 cylinder xx = the development number in the series
  19. Carberry Enfield V-Twin pricing Total Price if they have to supply the Bullet as well is $A22,000 + GST (where applicable) that's in Australian dollars. A bit expensive... edit: It would be a pain importing it, what you'd want to do is get the kit and convert one here. $A14,000
  20. googled it, yup... you were doing it wrong And what about a GPS, like a TomTom loaded with the local maps next time? So it can scream STOP in the local language, heh...
  21. lol, in China, it used to be, and might still be, you couldn't go anywhere without the state-sponsored co-pilot (guide/watchdog). Sort of like USSR back in the old days.
  22. LOL, you're a funny guy... luck of the draw, driving overseas... next time have a co-pilot who's local preferably a cute young female one lots of volunteers, I'm sure...
  23. Findley Courier - US Route 23 crash injures 3 Note that this kid was probably approaching fast from behind you. I'm not a big fan of surprises from behind me.
