  1. Look at what we got for headlines in Columbus now-a-days... We're going downhill fast. Local Headlines Masked Men Seen Breaking Into Grocery Store Missing Whitehall Man Found Safe Man Arrested, Charged In Wife's Slaying Bicycle Bandit Robs Bank Children Services Levy Will Keep Vital Programs Going Gymnastics Coach Arrested For Molesting Student Patrols Increased After Stranger Approaches Girls With Camera Man Wanted In 2 States Found Hiding Under Bed Students Involved In Fight Club Could Face Criminal Charges Program Reaching Out To Help Save Latina Lives I understand that news teams play it up to look bad, and that 90% of the news we need to hear to protect ourselves isn't shown to us.... but... The major news 50 years ago used to be about flower shows and lost puppies, not murder and mayhem! This city is going to Hell-in-a-handbasket.
  2. Hmmm, used to be Gable's Lounge. This is sad. Sounds like they were firing over a back fence or something, and ran away.
  3. Ha, yeah, I tried to ride there once with only a t-shirt and jeans jacket. I doubt I had any gloves either. It got way colder than I thought, and I turned back. Girl on the back wasn't complaining, but I was gonna freeze trying to get there.
  4. 4.9 gallon tank. I've got .95 gallons after the low fuel light comes on, supposedly. That's 42 to 57 miles. I've never managed to run out. Although a couple of times I'm pretty sure the low fuel light wasn't working. Nothing beats the Mark One eyeball. Look inside the tank.
  5. Hard to say what the outcome would be. It's possible that vaccinated people wouldn't stay home, if they got sick. That would spread it faster. The virus doesn't much care if you have the vaccination or not. It will still find a host in all people. Or spread without Humans as the host or as a co-host. Viruses mutate on demand, as required, in order to survive. It's even possible that the vaccination would promote a rapid mutation of the virus into something even more deadly to Humans. There's really no way of telling. Viruses have been around a lot longer than Humans.
  6. btw, do people realize that a virus isn't even a biological? It's not plant or animal, by any know definitions. It appears to be a crystalline mineral. But it's alive, because it can reproduce and die. Rather creepy if you ask me.
  7. Inoculating the entire population vs eradicating a virus, are two different things. And neither one has worked yet, even with a lot of effort and claims of success. In other words I hope you're joking, because all them viruses will be looking for the only ones not inoculated. Catching the mumps when young is by far the easiest way to "inoculate". But it's a rough one, I still remember lying in bed, hallucinating like a crazy person for hours on end.
  8. Yes, any fever that gets up around 104F, should be checked often. And especially with children. And odds of getting Mumps? About 100% in a lifetime. Very risky and sometimes fatal as an adult to catch mumps. Best gotten over with when young.
  9. argh, I maxed V:Force out twice, and it won't take high score.... dunno....
  10. I'm a 10 1/2, but don't own riding boots. I ride with combat boots, swat team boots, or work boots.
  11. Tell people what size, maybe you can borrow something.
  12. Any boots will work. They don't have to be riding boots. Work boots will do.
  13. Watch it down hill with RVs, they can get moving too fast before you know it. Just be careful, it's a little big rig. Yes, there's a story there. I had one shoot past me with all four wheels smoking, trying to slow down. He did, barely... Very cool to own an RV. There are usually good prices on them (and boats) when gas prices go up. Which is probably forever now.

    Are you fat?

Scary is when the steward/stewardesses start asking big people to move to first class. That actually means that the weight and balance calculations were screwed up and they are trying to correct in flight. Nose heavy isn't near as bad as tail heavy. Tail heavy bad, very bad... goes to stall condition too easily. I was on one flight where they asked EVERYONE to move as far forward as possible. geez... What the Hell did they load in the back of the cargo bay below, tropical fish in water? Bars of lead? Something was out of whack. "Excuse me, this is the pilot speaking... Can everyone move forward into empty seats? I really need this, my arms are getting tired of wrestling us into level flight. <We're barely flying at all...> Are you there yet? Could you move a little faster? A little help please?"

The excuse to overcharge is the weight and balance factor of the aircraft. It's calculated on an average weight per occupied seat. (Small planes ask everyone how much they weigh or actually weigh them.) They theoretically adjust that calculation by selling two seats for a person that is twice normal weight. This has some basis in reality, since the aircraft's cost of operation is based on.... weight of cargo vs distance, in terms of fuel usage.

    Buell

Shiny new Buell showed up in the parking lot at school today. West Virginia 30 tags... The one day I decided to take the camera out of the jacket pocket.
  20. Nope, not worthless. Buell will be a legend. Value unknown. Buell will be back, give it a little time. Dunno about Buell using many Harley engines in the future though.

  25. Sure, but I think that might be effectively countered by modern transmittal from touching escalators, elevator buttons, door knobs, computer keyboards and commercial transport aircraft. (And counter pens in banks, if anyone still goes to a bank.) The known current methods of spreading viral disease. Not to mention the increase in vectors, the number of people. 1918 world population ~ 1,600,000,000 2009 world population ~ 6,700,000,000 So if 26% of the population doesn't get the message, and coughs away, it would be like the entire population doing so in 1918. edit: So in other words, the Earth is 4.18 times more crowded... re-edit: screwed the population numbers up bad... take two..
