  1. I'd say closer to 9 1/2 hours total. Fuel and food stops.
  2. Yes, Dear, we can talk up aircraft. Your degree is fully qualified. That beats out the code writers any day. For me, anyway. Although I probably can still write code in a dozen languages.
  3. http://www.ncstatecollege.edu/cms/rock-n-ribs.html Fri, Jul 17th, @5:00pm As part of the 40th Anniversary celebration of North Central State College, Rock-n-Ribs will take center stage on Friday, July 17, and Saturday, July 18. The two-night event will showcase performers from local bands, Motown and two rock and roll greats – Night Ranger and Lou Gramm of Foreigner. Gates open at 5pm.
  4. Let me think... Saturday, route 33, umm, nope, won't be going too fast. Me thinks Ticket City most of the way. I'd be rolling with the traffic speed.
  5. More if any backroads taken. At 350 miles, it's all route 33 and freeways. And mostly it's because route 33 is a very straight shot between Columbus and Charleston WV. 6. I'm not sure how a V-Rod does it, but it's performance is impressive when I ride with one. Just huge amounts of torque available at all throttle. Having a very wide power band is something most bikes do not have. It will not flick around like a lighter bike though. You set your line and ride it.
  7. Hahahahaha, no.... I started on a Honda 160, tore it down over Winter, installed high compression big bore kit for 182cc @ 12.5 compression. (we still had Sunoco 260.) Remember that the largest Japanese bike at the time was a 450 twin, with better horsepower/weight ratio than an HD 883. I went straight from that, to working at a Honda shop and riding them all, Hondas, BSAs, Husqvarnas, and any other bike that wound up on the used bike showroom floor. And then bought 4 different Honda 350s over the years, before buying a CB550F (faster in the 1/8 mile than a liter bike of the era). Mixed in were various other Japanese bikes and Nortons that were flipped for cash profit. I bought the 919 because it is naked, standard, weighs the same as the CB550F, and has at least twice the HP.
  8. 350 mi – about 6 hours 42 mins road time round trip Definitely within range - so many choices, so little time....
  9. I got mine from the OTHER box of crayons...
  10. 2 PMs sent... long rides, dawn to dusk or more...
  11. Found it right between the "B" and the "D". Darned if I know how it got there...

ummm, that looks like a video of a combat simulator game. A good one, but it's computer generated. What it really looks like: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=ce0_1190188250 http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=517_1175689098 http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=5d981a08a2 http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=4d244da177 http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=9292766012 http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=a66c065501
  13. sometimes I wonder about MJ's "entertainment values". But I understand reality. Working all day with engineers and geeks. So sad... wait, that's what I do, argh I agree, we now have the "need for entertainment" as a group value/goal. Oh, and if anyone wants to discuss various theories of quantum mechanics and alternate universes, we can get thrown out of this thread too. Into yet another sub-sub-group.
  14. I looked, photobucket pics long gone now.
  15. Yeah, it is nice weather. And it's not a ride till you hit the Ohio border. I'm kinda in the mood to just get lost on roads somewhere.
  16. hmmmm.... take 60 to 37 to 13 back?
  17. Isn't this the same set he tried to sell last year? btw, ever been to the 4 story M&M souvenir store in Vegas? Right near the 4 story Coke-Cola souvenir store..
  18. You should see me in a parking lot. I just let it fall to the left and right and catch it with the clutch to turn. Works for me.
  19. either way, there's some stories there, I've no doubt of it...
  20. ok, that was cruel and unusual punishment.... ----> bad girl! Whack!
  21. very cool, I think I hear AC/DC playing "we got big balls"...
  22. Welcome! Sportbike, cruiser, or standard... standards are sort of retro. They sit between the other two. Known as the "sit up and beg" bikes. Go to one of the bike nights, and talk your way into sitting on a few different types. Julie? Get her out to one of the evening meets? My old basic rule is no bike that weighs more than 3 times yourself. Dunno. But less horsepower at first is a good thing to learn with. The throttle and brakes are more forgiving. And used is good, because the first bike can get beat up a bit.

Now now, ease up, how many of the ladies on here started out MC life on the back, vs jumped right into riding solo? Hmmmmmmm? I know some of each. The solo types grew up on dirt bikes mostly. The backpack types hitched rides and bought bikes and learned. We need a thread and poll to answer the question....
