  1. Several from work volunteering for this one. *counts on fingers*... four so far maybe. Not counting the OP and Mrs OP in total.
  2. Unless I'm mistaken.... the one and only original Devil's Backbone is in Mexico.
  3. For solo isolation, the North and Northwest states, over to the Pacific coast. Stunning scenery. Co-worker just took off on one of those. He's previously done the old two lane route to Florida. Both are good. I've seen websites for all these motorcycle trips, including route 66 from it's origin in Chicago. Very popular subjects.
  4. There is a trick to bleeding brakes. It's a closed pressure system, and when pressurized, that air immediately disperses evenly throughout the entire fluid system. Boom, gone. It's still in there, but it's microscopically all over the place throughout the fluid. The point is.... That can help or hurt. If you are trying to get a big bubble out, you don't want to pull the brake lever before bleeding. The other method, is to go ahead and pump the brake lever, and make that air go all throughout the fluid, and drain or flush it all out of the entire system. You can let the system settle over night, and the air bubbles will rise to the top of the system and be trapped as big bubbles again in various places. Some will be up at the top of the lines, and might come out ok when the master cylinder moves it's piston. But air trapped in the front brake caliper, will sometimes be tough to remove. That's another story. Weak rubber brake lines or damaged o-rings on pistons or leaking connections, will also give a very mushy feeling of no brake lever.
  5. People that use turn signals and/or actually see a motorcycle around them, should be rewarded. Let them change lanes. Reinforce the positive behavior. Then they can tell all their friends about that nice motorcycle rider...
  6. geez Ben, your photo composition is getting really good. I'm impressed...
  7. oh oh, that happens to me all the time. Good weekends have multiple things to do. Dunno what to say. I hope you can pick one. I'll buy you ice cream if you go...:D

  8. http://www.ohio-riders.com/showthread.php?t=27427

A bunch of people from work, on and off the forum, will be at this one. A fund raiser poker run for a volunteer fire department. I was there earlier this year. A nice little town. Aug1st.

  9. A very smart enginerd director I worked with, once said: "If you can't do your job eight to five, you've got the wrong job." He's right. Although students are exceptions, they are required to work double that. And enginerd students and potential doctors are not allowed to sleep except for on the city bus and three day weekends.
  10. btw... I gotz yur stickerz right here... in the other trap... Seriously, a SASE is all that's needed, or drop by a meet. But does anyone in other cities do the distribution of said stickers? I have no answer for that. Administrators and moderators got them. Check this post, a forum sticky for how to get stickers: http://www.ohio-riders.com/showthread.php?t=18111&highlight=sticker+address

  13. ehhh, I'll stick with the old tube tires for an old bike... http://www.amazon.com/DUNLOP-3-25X19-TUBE-FRONT-420223/dp/B000GRN0NG
  14. I like the Honda polish also. Amazing stuff. With no water, choices are limited. An air hose would move some stuff off. It really should get dusted off and wiped down with a solvent once and a while. One of the gentle paint prep solvents that remove wax and polish should be ok. Letting a warm wet cloth sit over bugs and stuff will loosen them up pretty quick. I prefer a bike that rides every day, in the rain or shine. And dirty it will be...
  15. hahaha, when no one is looking, all the tanks on the bikes on a showroom floor are dusted off and quick wiped with Lemon Pledge. Once or twice a day. Been there. Done that. True story.
  16. Yup, I'm thinking you want pure performance anyway. Not a "little bit of touring" in a RoadSmart. heh.
  17. http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/Dunlop_Q2/sportmaxQ2.html AVAILABLITY The Sportmax Q2 will be available in the U.S. in the summer of 2009 and will be offered in these sizes: Front: 120/60ZR17, 120/70ZR17 Rear: 160/60ZR17, 170/60ZR17, 180/55ZR17, 190/50ZR17, 190/55ZR17, 200/50ZR17 I bought the SportMax RoadSmart this year for the rear. edit: looks like the RoadSmart isn't available in 190/55/17. They do have 190/50/17.
  18. I used Koss sparkplugs for a while. They are passive noise canceling also. A bit hard to get under the helmet, because they are longer, but ok when settled in. Better sound than the skull candy, particularly bass, but not by much. If you have a bass boost or equalizer, it won't make much difference. Costs more. I use the skull candy instead.
  19. All motorcycle publications come from the West coast. They talk different then us, I guess. Googled it, apparently "dirt donk" is a term applied to either a dirt bike or a dirt bike rider. Unofficial definition:
  20. It's in a compressed format used by WinRar. Use WinRar, WinZip, or 7zip, to change it back to the PDF format that can be read. Then it will open in Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you have a Mac, it's something else used, I forget what. Some of these will work on a Mac. WinZip can be downloaded as trial. http://www.winzip.com/prod_down.htm WinRar can be downloaded as a neverending trial. http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm And 7zip is a great freeware. http://www.7-zip.org/ edit: or I can just email it to you...
  21. Yeah, we'd actually be interesting in hearing what you used for camera gear.
  22. hahaha, sure. It's entertainment value in a world where people just aren't getting out like they used to. I'm pretty sure anyone can get better action cruising stop lights on a Friday night. You know, sort of like back before the internetz?
  23. Hailwood, dude... your pics are better than some of the so called professional photogs that stalk the tracks and try to sell their stuff. Job well done.
  24. SkullCandy is still the best I've found so far. Passive noise canceling (like an ear plug). They might only last a year. They are cheap enough. No big deal. Buy at Target when on sale. 11 bucks. Normally 15 bucks, still cheap enough.
  25. hahahaha, you haven't met.....(fill in the blank with one of several names) oh nevermind, it will be a surprise, I'm sure.
