  1. Some people are fueled by emotions, and not decisions. It's the difference in power between the Id and the Ego. They will react, rather then analysis. There has been and always will be a large group of people that do this, for whatever reasons that caused it to be. The fast pace of internet communications (from our instant tweeting phones) has simply made it all the more visible to the general population. Thinking and decision making take time, and will never catch up with the quick reactions of emotions.
  2. lol, there are many flavors of kool-aid. Choose wisely. And fortunately, the powers that be have yet to realize, nor can yet afford, the manipulation of the internet at this level. On other levels, they do just fine. When it happens, it will be an army of bots. Computer programs, all in a row. They won't be perfect, they will fail at sarcasm and innuendo and local colloquialisms and such. They will give themselves away like the shallow little machines that they are. But they will be incredibly annoying. But there has been some success in manipulating people in the general population to do the very same job for free. That technique goes back to the dawn of time. Just as history is revisionist and seldom reflects the reality of events that occurred, the news, media, and the internet are champions of the same. We can call it sensationalism and judge it mostly harmless, but the effects are real and long lasting.
  3. Yes, information is free to everyone, I'm sure it's entirely unnecessary for us to go off shore to find out information that is missing in national media sources in the US. Nor is it necessary to have to find news sources outside of any of the major distributors of news information. Information would never be missing or eliminated from distribution to the population. The US media is also entirely unbiased and completely truthful, with no agendas or culpability. Feel free to drink the kool-aid.
  4. Bought my last one in February. Rode it home in snow. And ice. And slush... Was actually quite fun till I realized I didn't shovel the driveway before I brought it home. Backed it up and gunned it. Where it stopped is where it stayed.
  5. So the story changes again. What they didn't tell us or make clear, is that there were two more distinct turns at waypoints after that first turn. Data found from multiple radars much later. The pilot was most likely conscious. That means most likely no fire. Nor was it likely aiming for an emergency landing. Right back to the big unknown cause.
  6. Two days ago, I think. Could be either way. They appear to be almost clueless. And what they do know, they don't want to tell. And the various media that are repeating stuff, don't have a firm grip on what they can get for information. I can only guess there was an emergency. A pre-programmed turn was made. An attempt to put a fire out was made. And then it got worse. What will be hard to believe, would be if the last known position from the satellite was wrong.
  7. They aren't sure about that. I saw something that said they now think it was before.
  8. Islanders in the remote Maldives Islands are saying that an aircraft that looked like MH370 flew over at low altitude the morning after. There are normally no aircraft like that around the Maldive Islands. The direction that it was going was the last known heading of MH370 when it was last seen on radar far away. edit: Also, the turn it made, it's last known heading, would have been appropriate for an easy emergency landing at a nearby 13,000ft runway. It wouldn't want to go back to where it departed, there are 8000ft mountains in the way. edit one more: The unusual climb to 45,000ft and drop to 23,000ft right after the turn, might have been an attempt to extinguish a fire. Either from thin air at 45,000ft or from a high speed dive.
  9. To be specific, the complaint was about a 80% lower made of polymer from EP Armory. It has two different colored polymers, one is for the portion that gets removed. Ares Armory sells them. Supposedly a newer decision has been made that it is still ok as an 80%. But apparently actions are still proceeding based on another previous decision that they are not. Also disregarding a previous previous decision that they were ok. Remember that this is California, and if one or more showed up on the street, actions would be taken regardless. As far as I know, the design of 80% lowers is regulated, and have to be submitted for review in order to qualify and be sold. http://cdn3.volusion.com/rhqso.ycmfs/v/vspfiles/photos/BUY5-1.jpg?1393416077 http://www.eparmory.com/Lower-Receivers-s/1819.htm edit: More specific, if the 80% sample submitted is found to NOT have the following done, it is not a firearm. 1. Milling out of fire-control cavity.2. Selector-lever hole drilled.3. Cutting of trigger slot.4. Drilling of trigger pin hole.5. Drilling of hammer pin hole. Obviously confusion on how to handle a two tone polymer. It could be said that it was finished and filled back in or something. Also, at the federal level it is ok to build your own firearm unless it's short barrel or full auto or other prohibited type. At the state level, laws will vary.
  10. NASCAR had a premium website deal where you could flick through the cameras (and audio) around the track and in the cars. Not sure it was real popular, but what do I know. So I guess the groundwork is already there.
  11. Both, and one for each fake ID...
  12. and... only 25% of the needed under-25 group have jumped in. 75% short. 20% of everyone signed up haven't paid, facing cancellation. 83% are receiving federal aid to purchase. Only 10% so far are of the original target group of uninsured. Apparently the other 90% are mostly people that had their insurance cancelled? And I'm not seeing data on how many signing up are actually going after the Medicaid instead of the insurance plans. About by now I'm pretty sure we would have been better off hiring some other country to manage this for us. edit: the irony seems to be more people lost insurance than uninsured people got insurance. Some sort of reverse psychology, I guess.
  13. It looks like that battery is harder to find. Not as many in stock. So the prices are higher. Might also be a bit larger battery. About $70 might be the best price found for AGM. ($60 + shipping) Google price search edit: Batteries Plus is about $86 plus tax
  14. I asked MicroCenter to duct tape a 32 inch monitor onto my back. They didn't refuse, they were speechless. I was kidding. Had a friend haul a new tire home. It flopped down onto the rear wheel while on the freeway. That ground a chunk out of the side wall. Ruined.
  15. I suspected that. Gone after the forum conversion. Calling Casper... fix it...
  16. Welcome. There's a ladies only back channel. Ask the ladies about that one. Not sure where it is. Might have to get admin to authorize it, or set it up.
  17. From what I've read, the state of Connecticut freely admits that they permanently retain the records. I saw what year they started, but don't remember. I might find it. I think it was the year they required state registration. It occurs to me that some people might think that if they previously registered at time of purchase, they didn't need to register again under the new mandate. Don't know the answer to that one.
  18. ermygud we lost control of our info! We need... a law! edit: yeah, I know, laws never hurt anyone said no one ever in jail.

All I've seen is that China won't say one way or the other. Two words come to mind. Texas and Tibet, lol.
  20. Regardless, in Connecticut, it is required to register with the state database. I think you are correct. NICS is only federal information, submitted by the states. I think I confused myself, since many of the background checks I'm familiar with did include checking state records. edit: I did find this, 13 states do the NICS themselves, locally. (And some in part.) http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/nics/general-information/participation-map Connecticut does, Ohio does not. Also found this, the federal NICS checks 3 federal databases. Interstate Identification Index (III), a database of criminal history record informationNational Crime Information Center (NCIC), which includes information on persons subject to civil protection orders and arrest warrantsNICS Index, which includes the information contributed by federal and state agencies identifying persons prohibited from possessing firearms who are not included in the III or NCIC, such as persons with a prohibiting mental health history or who are illegal or unlawful aliens.Essentially, those are checks of past, present and future.
  21. Connecticut is using the retained state database. It was their choice to do so. Nothing prevents them from doing that. The state database is built from background checks when individuals purchase weapons, or even try to purchase weapons. Most states do not retain the information. Only a few choose to do so. And maybe a city or two, like Cleveland.
  22. Connecticut just isn't in the news. Somebody doesn't want it in the news. Oddly, it isn't in the British news either. Guessing that is a subject they don't want British citizens thinking about. Estimates were that up to around 300,000 unregistered weapons exist in Connecticut. Let's be reasonable and say they can go get at least one a day, 6 days a week. It will take 959 years... And that doesn't include illegal high capacity magazines. That might be another 2000 years.
  23. I've lived in Florida and places hotter. After the first year, you will think 40F is freezing. They sell Winter clothing in Florida for a reason, and people buy it up. It sounds weird, but it's what happens.
  24. The tube forks and the shape of the oil tank lock in the range of years. It appears there were variations in the headlight and headlight braces. Different years or models. Does look like a Triumph Speed Twin 500cc. Somewhere between 1945 and 1955?
  25. Yeah, it's free shipping over $99 only. I'd be temped to look elsewhere. Don't like being tricked. screw them, here...$37.25 at amazon.com, free shipping... drop shipped from Powersport Superstore http://www.amazon.com/BikeMaster-AGM-Platinum-Battery-MS12-7L-BS/dp/B005G54VYA edit: I forgot, I always check amazon.com last, looking for cheaper. Because they do free shipping all the time.
