  1. V4 I get your point. I never considered anything that like a wheel chair glove. Sure they were suggested. Like I said to each their own. Not for me. You intentions are good and I appreciate that. I am going to purchase gloves on the terms of what info I can get on them and if the fit with in my budget. Like I said before I should have mentioned I'm not headed to the track and with my logic somethings are overkill. About the putting your hands down thing. You are absolutely right. Thats what I did when I went down. Rolled off my shoulder put my hands down at my sides and slid on my back down the road. So I completely get you point.
  2. A friend of mine is selling his bike. He is trying to get into more of a sport tourer and needs it gone. I've known him for quite a while and he lives right down the road from me. If there is any interest let me know and I will get you his info. Or if you are on Ride Ohio.org you can contact him yourself. His name is Johnny and here is his sweet bike. Here's the Craigs Ad. http://cleveland.craigslist.org/mcy/1334704580.html Quote from Ride Ohio Gotta do it!!! Puttin up my 06 SuperDuke for sale, most of you have seen it and know what it looks like, if not PM me and I'll get you some pictures. 9K miles and rising. KTM Gel Seat, KTM Hard Equipment Tank Bag, Custom Screen, Ventura Luggage Rails, Pinstriping (By Dennis), Various Orange Billet Pieces. Asking $7800 cash
  3. If your going to take off a finger with a $100 glove you going to take off a finger with a $500 glove. That is unless they have no flexibility at all. I really don't feel like getting into this arguement but a snell rated helmet is a snell rated helmet weather it cost you $600 or $180. If you hit a tree head on at 30mph your most likely going to die. No matter how fancy the art work on it is. My Suzuki branded gauntlet gloves I bought for $50 when I got my bike handled my 20mph. low side with out a scratch and lasted me over a year and a half and 20K miles before I got a hole in the palm.
  4. Damn some of you guys seem to crash a lot. Don't get me wrong I like to push it once a while. I can understand on a track going down more often and needing a better pair of gloves but jeez. Sorry I don't do track days and should have mentioned that in the beginning. I'm just a regular sport touring type of rider. My goal when I'm out riding isn't to see how close I can get to my limits. I just ride to enjoy the ride push it when I know what I'm getting myself into. If there are to many risks and unknowns then it's not worth it and I slow down and ride within reason. Somethings are just overkill, like $250 gloves and the stickiest tires you can buy. Justify it how ever you want. To each their own and to each to their ability. I will tell you with all the accidents you guys get into and talk about makes me even more hesitant to ride with ya'll. I have a wife and kids to take care of not just my own personal urges and unrealistic goals. I ain't no Rossi and don't want to be. Especially on the street! No hard feelings but after reading some of this stuff, not just in this thread or on this site, it makes me wonder if I'm really a rare breed. A breed who doesn't have to come close to wrecking to have a good day of riding.
  5. I am considering these. You are the first person to ever say anything about them. I have a Jr ballistic 5.0 jacket that has held up well. So many people have bad things to say about Jr so it leaves me with mixed feelings. The other one really in consideration right now is Cortech Adrenaline. I like Cf knuckles and neither of these don't have them. It's always nice to be able to punch through a drivers window and ring a cagers neck without any blood to trace it back to me. Idk! It's not going to be till Monday when I order any so keep them coming. I also want to find a leather repair shop to try to get a new palm put in my old gloves. I really don't want to pitch them.
  6. I like my fingers just the way they are. Gotta have something to pick your nose.
  7. Thanks but I'll pass. I'm not really looking for a cold weather glove. I'll look into them if I haven't already. I've looked at so many gloves my brains numb. Now I resorted to this thread to narrow something down. That website you gave me is irritating! They do have some good prices though.
  8. Alright my Suzuki gauntlet gloves have just about had it. I'm looking to get another gauntlet glove in the $50-$120 range. Give me your reviews on what you have, what you like about them, dislikes and where you bought them. If you could follow this format it would be best for everyone. Especially me since I'm asking What brand- What style- Likes- Dislikes- Where you bought them- How much you paid- Pics and other comments- Thanks in advance.

    9-11 ride

It's a good thing they are doing a ride like this but I'm not going. In fact I'll ride every which way to avoid it. Organized rides like this bore me to death no matter what the cause.
  10. It's gonna be a while but you will. Someday it will make it to a bike night. I doubt I'll ever put many miles on it. Hell it's only got just over 1500 on it now. It's not a bike with a real following like the 1K but it should be a nice custom ride when I'm done with it. I'm just gonna take my time, learn what I can learn and have fun with it. The plan is to sell it and move on to another and do the same thing. After I put the kind of time and energy into this thing I doubt I'll ever get what I want out of it and it will go to one of my kids. It's kind of a unique bike as far as the specific model and motor and It will be uniquely mine when I'm done with it. For me it's hard to part with something like that.
  11. Without a doubt! It's riding season and repairs will have to wait till it snows. Should be a busy winter. Good thing as of right now the Sv doesn't need much of anything. Maybe I'll do the racing stripe but that's about it.
  12. Well I stripped the tank a couple weeks ago. It has 2 small dent on the right side and some pitting. Today I used some puddy to fill the pits and start fixing the dents. Tomorrow I should finish that tank repair and be preped for primer. I'll take some pics when it's finished tomorrow. Also today I talk to a guy in my area who has a extra set of forks, mag rims, a bunch of electrical goodies, and some other stuff. I will drive out his way Wednesday or Thursday to pick them all up for $100. It looks like the project is coming along a little faster than expected. It's still going to get stripped down to a bare frame but the extra parts have me a little excited and motivated. I still need to go buy a battery and get it started. Maybe I will do that this week also. Idk I'm not really in a huge rush. It's going to be my winter project. With 3 months of nothing to do I don't want to get to carried away.

    WTB moped

How about any of these? http://www.searchtempest.com/results.php?Region=na&statesel=&citysel=&statecodes=&citycodes=&catname=all+sale%2Fwanted&citySelect=zip&maxDist=125&zip=43085&showeb=1&category=8&subcat1=ccc&subcat2=eee&subcat3=ggg&subcat4=hhh&subcat5=jjj&subcat6=ppp&subcat7=res&subcat8=sss&subcat9=bbb&minAsk4=min&maxAsk4=max&bedrooms=&minAsk6=min&maxAsk6=max&minAsk8=min&maxAsk8=max&doa=&search_string=Moped&keytype=all&search_string_neg= I'm liking the one with this heading 1978 sears free spirit- puch - $350 (gahanna)
  14. So what route or road do you plan on hitting up? Thanks never seen that one before. Bookmarked.
  15. +1 I better keep my bike out of the sun.
  16. I'm also in Mentor and might be able to check it out. It all depends on what time. Since I am home with the kids and moms at work it all depends. Like jbot I'm not real accustomed to cruisers. For the most part I think I can help pick out obvious issues.
  17. I just posted these links on RO and figured some riders here might not know about the sites. I didn't look to see if this is a repost. I like looking through these every winter and getting ideas of where to go in the spring. I'm sure many of you have heard of them but for the new riders it might be helpful. Some sites have more info than others. Have fun out there and ride safe! http://www.byways.org/ http://www.motorcycleroads.us/index.html -My favorite http://www.motowhere.com/listpaths/srchkey/Ohio http://www.openroadjourney.com/search.asp http://www.roadsideamerica.com/ http://www.motorcycleroads.com/

  19. No need to take it back. I know what your talking about. Your right with axle spacer, I wonder if it was both the axle spacer and the spacer in the cush drive. It's hard to say. You can see a gap from the cush to the rim makes me curious. To not notice it was installed wrong and then to ride it for it to gouge the swinger like that is beyond me! Some people just need to leave their bikes alone. No matter how good their intentions are! I would have to say the sprocket is just a case of neglect. But I'm a little anal about how thing are maintained.
