    Screw snow...

We had 6" up here on the lake today. No ice to speak of. Took about a half hour to snow blow my drive. I guess it pays to live up north once and a while. I would rather deal with snow than ice any day!

This winter sure has been getting to me. Everyday I go out and spend a little time doing misc. stuff. New rear sets and installed them. Chain and sprockets installed. Changed the gearing from 15F 48R to 15F 47R. Painted fender eliminator black. Painted grab rail black. Took off rear fender and cut off tool box from the battery box and undercoated. Solider all the wires that were butt connected. Cleaner waxed everything then waxed with Meguire's Ultimate wax. Adjusted clutch. Right now I have the sprocket cover painted black and and drying inside the house. Next will be a valve check and adjustment Possibly sync throttle bodies And finally inspect and lube throttle cable. Here's how she sits before I came in the house.
  8. The consensus that I have heard is for the S Corbin is the way to go and for the N Sargent or OEM gel. Out the the 3 seats I have tried I would prefer the OEM gel seat. I have also heard sending your seat into Great Day to ride is a very good option. http://greatdaytoride.com/Home_Page.php
  9. I have to agree the SV is not a great touring bike. There a lot of people that can do some long miles on the SV but it's not for me. I have ridden them with stock seats, OEM gel seat and Corbin (current seat) and still think anything over 3 hours begins to become a pain in the a**. The only good thing is when you don't have your butt planted in the seat for hours at a shot it is hella fun in the twisties. You just have to move around a lot and sore a** isn't an issue. I bought some adjustable rear sets this winter and am hoping they will help a little with the long haul to southern ohio. We will see. The moral to my little story is if you want to do Touring buy a Touring bike. I know a ST, FJR, or Concours is going to be my next bike. But the SV's not going to leave the stable. Way to much fun!
  10. That was a fun read. I love tire arguments! I have never heard anything bad about PP's, PP2ct, M3's, BT16 or CorsaIII. Always good things. Shinko's on the other hand- I hear their a good cheap rubber for cruisers. That's all I have ever heard. And for Dunlops- The stock d220's that came on my bike sucked horribly! Maybe it's just that tire or they have a better tire but I am not going to find out. I will ask the people that have the experience and go from there. So with all the research and talking to the guys that race on SVR, RideOhio and Canyon Chasers I was recommend and bought Conti Road Attacks. Better price point the the PP's or Corsa's but is not the same quality. For the riding that I do, all canyon and very little freeway they have been great. I will buy another set any day. But then again I can't justify an extra $100 for a set of rubber that I wouldn't really benefit from. Nice little read on Conti RA's. http://www.canyonchasers.net/blog/archives/75-Continental-Road-Attacks-Tested.html
  11. After reading this whole thing for a half hour I would never do business with this place. Yeah I don't live anywhere near Cycle Seach. But even if I was in the area and had to get a part to get home it wouldn't happen. I would rather pay a tow truck to get my bike home and deal with it myself. The company name is burned into my memory. Not because of the OP but what Cycle Seach member himself. Now for the OP's situation. What a bunch of B.S. If a customer asks for OTD you give them OTD. If you need to educate them on what that means, then do it! If it was my wife that got laughed at or even felt like she was being treated rude I would demand a face to face apology. That way her and I could see the reaction of the employees that were involved. People can say anything over a phone or in a letter but face to face that's another story. And if the manager is a manager at all he would find a way to make it happen. Even though we would walk right back out the door with no bike. Just because of this old saying- Burn me once, shame on you, Burn me twice, shame on me. Cycle Search Fked up and it will come back to haunt them. I have seen 3 bike shops in Mentor alone go down the tubes for the same type of thing. Good service is a hard thing to find. Hell I left my last three jobs because I wasn't permitted to treat people with the respect they deserve. I was told "they have the money and we want to get it. Do whatever you can to take it all." "Even if it means lying to them or not giving them what they pay for." "Make money off their ignorance". To me there is no way I'm going to do that to anyone. People work hard for their money and don't deserve to be treat that way. I know if I did it would be ugly! Damn temper! This utter direspect is running rampid in business nowadays. Makes me sick!
  12. Hey Jnor! Welcome to the site.
  13. I bought a rear TRex in December and it has been fine. I was recommended them on Sv rider. I have been moving the bike around a lot and is has held up. I really don't see how they wouldn't hold up. Sometimes I think people just knock them because they have to justify that they bought stands of 2 to 3 times as much. Don't get me wrong the Pit Bulls I have seen are nice but I can't see a noticeable difference.

  16. Welcome to the site. Scarce riding up North is a understatement!
  17. You have every right to believe, judge and inquire the facts how you see fit. You will not offend me. The only way in my opinion to know the facts is to look into what is stated through many different points of view and make a intelligent decision on your convictions. My fear is to become close mined like so many that I try to have conversations with. So many people like to voice their views and opinions but don't give anyone else the time of day. So Yes it is nice to hear your view on things and have a open debate with out prejudice. I'm not great at trying to get my views or points across in writing so bear with me. Normally I don't tend to voice my opinion about politics, religion, moral or ethical matters, especially on forums. But I hate to hear people constantly be negative about these topics. We live in a wonderful country that we are able (in most cases) to openly debate and hear the views of all people without the risk of being hung or burned at the stake. We should take advantage of it! “The greatest power that a person possesses is the power to choose.” J. Martin Kohe
  18. I mostly listen to NPR and Michael Medved. As for TV, I try to only watch the shows that are more news focused not political commentary. For example Headline News (CNN), Local News ( 19 Action News and Fox), Fox and friends (FNC), America's newsroom (FNC), Special Report (FNC) and my favorites C-Span and C-Span 2. No Joke!. Useally after 7:00 pm I avoid the news because of the comentary, conservitive or liberal. Sometimes I will surf through them all but rarely! If I was to watch commentary it would be Dave Ramsey (witch is on right now), Sean Hannity, or Glen Beck. Even with these shows I might tune in once a month. I am an obvious conservitive so they would fit more to what I would want to listen to. Even they go on their tangents! But nowhere near as negative of an attitude as Olbermann. I think there is a difference between Journalism and Political Commentary. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journalism Journalism is the craft of conveying news, descriptive material and comment via a widening spectrum of media. These include newspapers, magazines, radio and television, the internet and, more recently, the cellphone. Journalists—be they writers, editors or photographers; broadcast presenters or producers—serve as the chief purveyors of information and opinion in contemporary mass society. "News is what the consensus of journalists determines it to be." [1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_commentary Political criticism (also referred to as political commentary or political discussion) is criticism that is specific of or relevant to politics, including policies, politicians, political parties, and types of government.
