i really appreciate the advice! i've been reading books, but real life practical advice always makes more sense to me. spent a few hours last night getting the dog's area ready, and bought some supplies (leash, shampoo, toothpaste, flossing rope toy?). the dog is getting lance armstronged today and he'll be ready tomorrow to be picked up. i'm taking him to the petsmart after i pick him up to size him for a crate (I have a good idea, but i want to make sure he has enough room in there) and get a pad for him to sleep on for inside the crate and a crapload of toys and more treats. this is the most i've been excited to welcome a unemployed, not cooking, not cleaning, not mowing the lawn roommate ever.

i briefly considered naming him "GAWD", but I have some friends who would not approve. I'll have to watch him around the furniture to see if the hot sauce will be necessary. i'm hoping that since he's a bit older (1.5yrs) he'll be a bit calmer than a complete puppy and won't destroy too many things. it seems like he's even house broken already, but i don't want to expect too much of him. one thing I thought of, while reading a bunch of "Idiot's guide to taking care of dogs", is that I'll yell at him in asian-speak so he won't think i'm going to field goal punt him every time i say "bad" in english.

it would be a zing, but i was already admonished for using the "koreans, as a people, are infamous for eating dogs" joke too much. something along the lines of, "Hey, when are you bringing that cute puppy to see us" and I said "whenever I have some clean tupperware". they were not amused.

hot sauce? like, slather it on wood furniture? would tobasco do the job or do i need something more industrial like essence of habanero?

excuse me as I get a little excited about getting a dog of my very own. I'm going to guess some of you more experienced dog owners will say something along the lines of "much like boats, it is better to know someone who has pets than to actually own one yourself" but I've wanted a dog for some time, and just never felt comfortable about taking care of one til now. Actually, I'm not anymore responsible than I was before, but I think I've waited long enough, and there is no better time than now since the gf is unemployed for the foreseeable future. So, without further ado, here he is: I haven't come up with a name yet, so if you have any smashing ideas, let's hear em. Some contenders so far: Bartleby and Ollie. I let her pick the dog (pretty much... though I did like the dog a lot when I met him) so I'm going to assume I get to pick the name. Oh, and as you can see, he is a shelter dog (from Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter). Any tips or advice? He is about 1.5 yrs old, and they think he's a black Lab/Pointer mix.

ya, in reality, i think the general's are baller. they were THE cheapest tires I found that had good reviews that came in the size i was looking for (225/35-19 and 245/35-19... stupid front rear offset sizes!) lol ya, i'm a cheap bastard.

i was going to say something along the lines of "anus" and "holster" but for the sake of not being raised by wolves, i'll go with fobus paddle holster (great for my p99 when i'm wearing a coat of any kind) or my bianchi IWB holster for my sig P229. i also have a uncle mikes (I think) IWB for my sig GSR (.45 1911 style) but I don't typically carry that anywhere. oh, and if I'm feeling frisky, an IWB for my p22 is also great. lol i need to CC my makarov or get me a bersa thunder.

Hey guys hope there are no hard feelings. What happened that day was honestly one of those days ill remember as being one of the stupidest things I've ever done so please do believe me when I say I'm sorry and that it won't happen again. I won't be at midohio on the 22nd but ill be at grattan the first weekend of Sept. I still need to work on being more smooth (and hopefully, more quick as a byproduct) before I play in a led day.
