  1. Here's a tip: After you break the sparkplug loose, slip a 3/8" rubber hose over the end of the sparkplug and turn the hose to remove the sparkplug. Install the plug in reverse order using the same hose and finish tightening with a socket. The two biggest mistakes to watch out for are cross threading the plug, and over tightening to the point of stripping the threads in your head. You should be able to run the plug in 90% of the way finger tight then just snug them up with a socket not to tight. Good Luck
  2. The only thing I torque are the head bolts.
  3. Your starter may be bad: If you have good connections to the starter. A good fully charged battery. No major engine trouble. Starter still turns engine over slowly. A shorted out starter will not only run a battery dead but can ruin a battery. Also since the starter is taking all the power, the engine may not start even though it is turning over. Three ways to check a starter: If your headlight goes out or dim while trying to start it, it may be bad. Take starter out, use a manual and multi meter to check it. Take starter out and have it checked at the dealer, call them first. Good Luck
  4. Actually Great Neck tools are excellent quality, affordable, and life time guarantee. They are also a lot easier than snapon to exchange. I know.... they don't have a nascar endorsement either.
  5. A simple way to check your starter ground: You will need a wire and 2 aligator clips. Hook up one end of the wire with an aligator clip to the negitive side of your battery leaving the battery connect as it normally is. Hook the other end of your ground wire to the starter body with an aligator clip. If starter speeds up you have a grounding issue.
  6. I was at Auto Zone today for brake pads and priced the torque wrenchs: Great Neck brand, beam type $11, click type 3/8" $21, click type 1/2" $29.
  7. There is suppose to be a rubber o-ring that goes around the housing. You can order the o-ring on line from partforyamaha.com $2 or the whole thermostat for $27.
  8. I use this fender with street tires and saved the larger fender to use with dirt tires.
  9. Those are cool, do they have the metal hand guard?
  10. Ya I know they also have a 3/8" thats smaller and cheaper.
  11. Ya I have a few beam types, bought a 1/2" click style at Auto Zone $25.
  12. Nice bike! IMO you need to get rid of that front fender and get a motard fender.

  15. I ride almost every day because I haven't had a car in over 10 years, I do have a work van full of tools but I hate driving it.
  16. Congradulations on getting your bike started! So really what was the cause of your no start? I don't think your carbs were plugged to the point of not starting because you said that your plugs were wet. I suggest that the gas in your fuel bowls went bad then filling your cylinders with bad gas so even after draining your bowls it may have taken quite a bit of cranking before starting. Now you could say that the carb cleaner made it start, what if you had just put air in your back tire then it started, did the air make it start? Anyways glad you got it started.
  17. I'm not a Busa basher, I really couldn't care less what anyone rides.
