  1. So we do we have to do it as a pre-sale, or if a few friends and I show up will we be able to hang with the cool kids or are we forced to be part of the huddled masses?

I suck at life and don't want to commit to any engagements and cancel again. :)

  2. I fail. That has been my motto lately.

My life is a mess right now(ask Jagr, I bail on him constantly).

I got super busy with work and school, getting a divorce, and other crap, just kinda put this aside and forgot.

I have ADD too, if I don't take care of stuff right away, I just forget. :)

My contact with the State Troopers was a friend of my ex's, but I think I can still get in touch with him. I'll try to get back on this.

  3. was that The Pit? i remeber that place....sort of...

at the old paninis on the corner of 9th and high is where i drank many a bucket.

    :drink:

I spent many nights at the old Panini's too. We always met more girls there than anywhere else.

  4. hottie drummers is a tag...

so when is your next show!! ??

    You mean first show. :)

I haven't played in a band in about 8 years. These guys started up about a year ago and have been after me to come play with them. Finally did about 2 months ago, and was blown away by the progress they made in a year. So now they did all the hard learning stuff and I get to jump right in.

I'm working on getting our sound quality to where it needs to be, bought a killer PA this week,(fun stuff getting money out of musicians.), and we're working on production. I am a perfectionist when it comes to this stuff.

So we just need to learn about 30 more songs, tighten it all up and we'll be ready. and we need a name.

Pretty much that was two long paragraphs to say we're aiming for February. :guitar:

  5. yeah... :D

naked karate girls were playing at the martini bar on friday at easton (i think)... they were really good, but to be honest, they freaked me out enough that i was having a hard time enjoying the music.

Naked Karate Girls are great showmen, and as far as stage presence, they have something we can probably never touch. As musicians, they need all of that act to hide some of the stuff they miss on. They use a lot of pre-recorded loops, skip over hard parts of songs. But the average listener doesn't care about that, they like a good show, which NKG does extremely well.

I'm hoping we can be the other way around, and put on a good show by playing quality music well, and have the act just back up the music. We're all about doing what is necessary to put on a great show, but not be a novelty act either.

I'm not familiar with most of the new suggestions except maybe incubus, I'll check them out. Thanks!

  6. J, could do that for sure. I like it. Never heard it before, but actually think it was in the set list before I joined. My bassist would go crazy to do this, this is his type music.

BTW, the hookup in the beginning was just painful to watch, and I was fast forwarding through it. That guy is lucky he is rich, or he would never get any if that is how talks to girls. :)

  7. I think we have an Outkast song in the mix; I haven't done it, but I'm still pretty new with these guys. I don't sing on a few songs, so it may still be in there. We do have keyboards as well on a few songs, so not a problem.

Any more suggestions? In this situation, female opinions go to the top of the list, so girls, speak up.

It's just how being in a cover band works. You get girls come to dance, guys come to hit on girls, guys buy lots of alcohol for the girls and courage to dance, good alcohol sales mean we get to back and play there again and get paid.

Now if we were playing in a roomful of guys, we may play some stuff that we normally wouldn't, and we are trying to prepare for that as well.

I'm kinda hoping the OR crowd will be regulars at the shows as well, so we are taking your suggestions seriously.

MJ, Save Me went over well with the other guys, so it will be in the list soon.

I don't really see us being a shtick band like Naked Karate Girls. I know that brings a crowd too, but we are hoping that a showed played well, upbeat, and good production will overcome lack of trying to be silly. Don't get me wrong; we are all about having fun and getting the crowd going, I just don't see us dressing up in bunny costumes or running around in bikini underwear.

  8. Yea, i was checking them out this morning!! the Interstate looks like a dressed out Fury.... fuel injected also!! I'll bet they phase out the VTX's!! Pretty sharp, wonder what the price is gonna be?

Fury is 13k, VTX is 10k (MSRP). probably somewhere in between I would think, but maybe more than the Fury.

  9. you should be able to pull off some doors action.... you got the range as a baritone

I'm a big Doors fan, we'll do Roadhouse Blues, maybe Light my Fire, but most of the other good songs are too long. The End is one my all time favorites, but as a cover and the fact that I will not be hypnotizing the audience because I am not Jim Morrison, it may put people to sleep.

  10. i love watching cover bands! and i go to drink dance and have a goodtime. the band i go to see on a regular basis sounds like what you are trying to go for. so here is the bands they cover.

AC\DC, Aerosmith, Alice in Chains, Autograph, Bad Company, Badfinger, Billy Idol, Billy Squire, Blackfoot, Black Sabbath, Blur, Bob Seger, Bon Jovi, BTO, CCR, Cheap Trick, Collective Soul, Danzig, Def Leppard, Dire Straits, Foghat, Foo Fighters, Free, Golden Earring, Great White, GreenDay, Guns n Roses, Jackyl, Jet, John Cougar, Judas Priest, Kiss, Led Zepplin, Lenny Kravitz, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Metallica, Nazareth, Ozzy Osborne, Quit Riot, Rod Stewart, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Sweet, Ted Neugent, The Beatles, The Eagles, The Darkness, The Doors, The Godz, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, Thin Lizzy, Tom Petty, Tommy Tutone, Trouper, Van Halen, WhiteSnake, ZZ Top

now i will say the crowd favorites are ac dc, jet, foo fighters, billy idol, beastie boys, and green day, they really seem to be the ones that when im out on the dance floor it seems to fill up around me.

    hope that helps.

Lots of bands in here we can and like to play. Any specific song requests that you like to dance to?
