  1. Cameras are very expensive. I had about 8 grand in my set up, and that was nothing too fancy. I still think motorcycles are more though.
  2. Why are you questioning that? Probably 99% of sports photography is done with Canon bodies and L lenses. Whenever you go to an event, all those rows of white lenses are Canon L's.
  3. Welcome. There a few Shadow riders on here to keep you company.
  4. What gear are you using? I used to do some freelance work, got bored with it and sold my equipment. I'm guessing Canon with some L primes.
  5. Nice pics. I would be scared shitless to knee drag like that. Maybe that's why I ride a cruiser.
  6. Check out Ridin' On magazine, they keep a pretty good calendar of local events... http://www.ridinon.com/calendar/calendar.htm
  7. I don't ever expect to get out of it what I'm putting into it, but I'm really not doing anything terribly expensive. Tires are the most, and I would do that on any bike. Truthfully, since I'm putting all work into it, I plan on keeping it for quite a few years. If I do decide to get another bike, I'll keep it and teach the wife to ride. I'm just going solid black with the paint, I have access to put what ever graphics I want on it at work, that way when I get bored, I can just change them.

    Iron Pony

I like Iron Pony, I've got a whole drawer full of T-shirts to prove it. I'm a see and touch person; It's nice to be able to walk into a store and see what the hell you are getting. Most of the time I find their prices to be pretty good and consistent with other online retail. I'm also fine with paying a bit more if I need to to get it then, and make sure it is correct. Returns are much easier too.
  9. I just went with OEM Bridgestone tires. I've had really good luck with Bridgestone/ Firestone on all of my vehicles the past few years, so I figured I would stick with them. This Shadow has some really hard to find tires, they are pretty much the only bike that uses the size. IP had the OEM's in stock, so I had them change them Saturday. They were a little bit easier on the wallet then the Metz's too.
  10. I've got enough random parts lying around. Taking it apart is easy. Putting it back together is the tricky part.
  11. I eat Batman fruit snacks every morning. Why? I'm the goddamn Batman.
  12. After deciding to keep my current bike, I figured it was time to do some upgrades on the Shadow. Here is what I'm doing: New tires New paint(thanks AttackPainter!) Billski Taillight New sprockets and chain(going from 42-38 rear) New pegs and pedals new bags K & N Air Filter Cobra Stage 1 kit(maybe, looking at the plugs I'm in pretty good shape, haven't got the carb yet.) Overall tune-up and regular maintenance. a few more misc. items I want to thank Phop5, OOMp, and ReconRat for letting me pick their brains and answering lots of questions I had for them. Before(this was the day I bought it): Current State: I'm having fun! I'll post the finished pics.
  13. Awesome, thanks. I was checking out some of the pipes you have done, they are pretty sweet and got me thinking. I'm going to hold off for the moment, I've just dumped about a grand in to the bike this week(tune-up, new tires, new paint, new sprockets(38 rear) and chain). As soon as I fell like spending some more money, I'll hit you up and we'll see about the pipes.

You don't happen a chain rivet tool do you? :) I'll do the ball peen hammer way if I need to.

  14. Awesome. Graphics like the scrim(it's called perforated window film) are what I do for a living, of course I just have a big machine print them for me, not true art like you do. There are tricks to laying the film, let me know if need some tips.
  15. Very nice work. You've definitely got the eye and the talent for this(and this is coming from an artist/designer). I like your tank on the CBR a bit better, just seems a little darker to me. Post more.
  16. I've listened to Puscifer, and as much as I like MJK, I'm not impressed. I's just okay.
  17. I don't watch much tv, but I usually watch Rescue Me, Sons of Anarchy, True Blood, and The Sarah Conner Chronicles. I'm still waiting for another Buffy.....
  18. I skimmed through the threads and didn't see anything similiar, sorry if this a repeat. Music plays an important part in my life, I used to be an band, and it really affects my moods. 19. The other guys financing fell through this morning so the 1200 was mine if I wanted it. I turned it down. I'm sticking with the Shadow for now.
  20. I might know the right person. Let me know if you want to sell it. My friend had one in high school and wrecked it. He's been looking for a replacement ever since.
  21. Thanks for turning an intelligent thread into a joke. I had a serious question, and wanted some real opinions(which I got, thanks!). Repeating garbage that has been talked to death does not make you cool, it makes you an out-of date asshole.
  22. I agree. I've heard all the Harley crap before, that's not why I posted the question. I just wanted to bounce some ideas on the forum and help me confirm that I wanted to keep the Shadow. If you would have read the whole thread, you would have seen that, Dude.
  23. I do like the VTX's. I just need to win to win the lottery and just buy every bike that I even thought about riding.
  24. The Honda has rigid mounting, but I don't find vibration to be that much of problem. I can typically ride for a few hours without noticing it, and very rarely do I get numb. Any Harley after 2004 has a rubber mounted engine, I've looked into that.
  25. I should be able to make any of those dates, I am curious to meet some of you homos, I will be wearing my iron underwear though....
