  1. Well I went with the big buddy instead. I figured it was better to have to much heat and be able to turn it off, then be cold all week. I still need to get a hose for it which one you guys using? The one with a regulator or just the plain hose.
  2. Its a 30 year old slide in truck camper. Its tiny inside, maybe 50-100 sq feet? But its gonna be deer gun season so night time temps will be teens to twenties most likely.
  3. What kind of space will the big buddy heat? I have a kero heater for power loss that would be my main back up heat. But that thing's way to big to put in the camper lol. The main use would be for camping.
  4. The one i posted only uses a single tank, so yeah i'd be looking into the tank hose. The camper is so small i think it is going to be overkill and sweat me out. Guess i could crack a window if need be.
  5. Thinking about going with this one. http://www.menards.com/main/mobile/heating-cooling/gas-kerosene-heaters/garage/non-vented-infrared/mr-heater-2-heat-settings-4-000-9-000-btus-hr-portable-buddy-heater/p-1720131-c-6863.htm
  6. So i am looking at a heater for my truck camper for hunting season. I have been looking at the mr heater units. Just trying to decide what size unit to buy, the jr which is 3800 btu or the portable one which is double the btu. The camper is small, and just running a lattern in there raises the temp some. I am no way a freeze baby more of a polar bear. I think the jr at 3800 btu would be good enough, but the bigger unit could be used as a garage or back up house heater.

Benchmade are great knives, albeit pricey. They are gtg for heavy use. I have looking at a few to replace my sog as my daily use knife.

I use a sog flash 2 as my edc knife. I also have a crkt pazoda that I switch up that is a little smaller in size.
  9. Oh yeah sent from a blind in the woods, trying to shoot a deer. Think it already getting late in the morning to see anything now.
  10. I went last week and checked both my shotguns for sights. The truck/camper setup i got is about finished. Hope it makes it to camp without issue. Warsaw is a bit of a hike from me, and its a old truck. Lol
  11. I got the week off for shotgun season and the week of x-mas but with family stuff going on Jan would be better.
  12. Depends on the date. If it in december not gonna make it most likely. Between deer hunting and the holidays im booked up till jan.
  13. Damn you guys that live in the country, and can hunt in your backyard. I so need to move.
  14. At the price compared to a jet boil think it's worth a try? Looks like it would work off small tinder as well which means no fuel cans as with the jetboil. Not a huge fan of stoves that require a set fuel type or canister. I make my own right now that boils water almost as fast as a jetboil. I am a cheap ass when it comes to preps.
  15. Separate safe for ammo is the best option. I need to get a better one as my collection seems to keep growing.
  16. Was on woot and saw these http://sport.woot.com/offers/ags-brands-bleuet-cookset-fuel-combo was wondering if anyone has one or knows if they are worth the money for a cheap backpack stove. Looks like you could use other fuel sources in place of the fuel cubes as well.
  17. He is still bragging to his brothers about the shot he made LOL! I was a proud Dad for sure. He is much calmer in the woods then my 12 yo is for sure. They both enjoy the time out even if it is a bust on taking any game.

Used my mora for the first time on SMALL game today. Made easy work of skinning a chipmunk. That thing is stupid sharp.
  19. My attempt at tanning/drying the hide for him will see how it works.
  20. Went out squirrel hunting with the kiddo today for his first time. They seemed to be hiding or to far away all day. We did get a chipmunk today, he sniped him in the ear with a .22 from 20Yrds. The head was sticking out of a hole in a tree. He had to reach down the hole to pull it out. We skinned it for him and are gonna try a salt tan on the hide. He was pumped even though we did not get any tree rats.

What makes it better for salt water? Stainless blade, what use would it be for? With a rigid blade and not being a smooth edge?
  22. Going tree rat hunting with my ten year old for the first time in the morning. Westbranch was over run the other day with them, must have seen twenty where i had a blind up while deer hunting.
