I have a savage .17hmr also with the heavy barrel and accu trigger that's a different animal for sure. And i'm with you on the $500 plastic ar type rifles. If I want to shoot .22 out of a AR i will buy a kit for my 5.56 rifle. I think you will be happy with the 597. I couldn't, and I'm willing to bet 99.99% of the general non military/LEO community couldn't either. I m willing to bet that a high % of leo could not either. I was shocked to talk to a local leo and find out he trains less then me? He said he shoots maybe 6 times a year!

Well I would at least shoot back, I have never been in that situation before to know the outcome. But if I am being shot at I am shooting back no matter what the distance if it is a clean shoot with no bystanders. I may try to get to cover if it is a option.

I would drop two rounds in the bad guys chest at 75 feet if I were being shot at. Just not one handed with my weak hand LOL!

I got mine at dicks on black friday a few years ago for $159 with the junk factory scope. I replaced the factory scope with a nikon pro staff, much better. Not as much after market as the 10/22 but a fair amount of stocks, barrels, triggers, magazines for it. They also make a 597 in .22whr.

Nice I have a standard barrel model. Do yourself a favor and pull the two guide rods out and polish them, then when you put them back in make sure not to over tighten the bolts holding them in place. I also stoned my trigger and free floated the barrel. Mine is a tack driver for a mostly factory gun. Rimfirecentral.com has a good section on the 597. They are a very under rated gun for sure will out shoot a 10/22 out of the box. Oh I also bedded the stock with tips from rimfire. Here is mine:

I tried fiesta jalapano before not to impressed with the food and amount of food for price. Was OK at best. the one here in Berea on front street is ok good portions and price but the food is just ok not good. I will have to check out the one in parmagedeon thanks sniper. As sad as it sounds I miss Chi Chi's and there huge portions for cheap.
