I'll have to remember to bring my socialist floatees.
-
That place sounds like a Conservative paradise, why don't you move there?
-
3/10. Marginally better, but needs more frothy vitriol. For someone who's complaining that other people don't understand economics, you have not the slightest inkling as to what the definition of a modern socialist government is. Here's a hint: It's not the USSR. Just because the Soviets' had Socialist in their country's name, doesn't make it a socialist state just the same as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is neither democratic nor a republic. You're using the term socialism as an expletive, and in the process demonstrating to everyone how much of a complete fucking idiot socialist you are.
-
But seriously, that's just crazy enough to work.
-
2/10. You've lost a step, your trolls used to be so much better.
-
How did you verify? Where's the police report?
-
I'm happy you can enjoy it for what it is.
-
Please. This is a tactic used by police both here and abroad, like in the G20 summit in London which is being investigated by a MP. The NYPD used this on the Occupy protests. Besides, the staggering amount of mental gymnastics you people come up with as far as liberals and gun control laws blow anything that I could conjure right out of the water.

It's meant to be a mournful tribute, not an exact cover. I think it's fucking awesome.

I went a few years back in Middletown, Start Skydiving. First you watch a bunch of training/liability videos with Epic Beard Man who apparently invented the tandem harness. Get fitted for a jumpsuit, put all the gear on and meet your rear (instructor), go through some positions, then get on the plane! They take you to 13,500 ft, then off you go! I wasn't told about the nose breathing thing, that was pretty difficult for me as well. Also, if you have issue with your ears popping, they most certainly will, early and often. 55 sec of freefall will seem like WAY longer than that, then once that chute opens. there's SILENCE. No sounds at all. Float down to the DZ, high five your instructor, and go grab a beer.

Which is why I want to know more about their connection with the explosives guy. I understand that Occupy is slowly being undermined by the anarchist community (of which these guys were most certainly members by the looks of it), however I'm not following the mental gymnastics from slacktivist anarchist to flagrant destruction of a public landmark. It's like being a meticulous saver all your life then one day you suddenly show up someplace with a massive diamond encrusted chain and sporting a set of grillz. Doesn't follow.

I want more info on how these guys got hooked up with Mr. FBI Informant before I completely weigh in on this. With the amount of agent provocateurs LE's been throwing at Occupy, something's not passing the smell test. That being said... What makes you think they didn't have a job to begin with? Surely you have evidence to support your well-researched opinion?

I had my shingles replaced with Allied, I was happy with their service. I started calling around after the 2007 ZOMGWTFBBQ windstorm that blew off about 15 shingles and some whole panels. Guy came out (I think it was either the owner or someone fairly high up), actually got on a ladder, walked around the roof, and did a thorough inspection before we even talked about what needed to be done. I ended up opting for the vents on the roof apex, all in all I think it was well done. I ended up calling them out for warranty work (or what I thought was warranty work) when I had a leak above my garage (ended up being from the window vs. the roof), the guy came out for free, did some poking around and said it wasn't a roof problem but he did see some nitpicky stuff that the installers didn't do and had it all fixed that next day. Do NOT, under ANY circumstances, engage Able Roofing. Even for a quote. My house is literally across the street from their office, and this dude shows up in my driveway 45 minutes late in a Ford Taurus with not even so much as a stepladder. I'm on the porch getting ready to be late for work, and this dude glances at the roof by the time he closes his car door and comes to talk to me, while giving me a "did I do that?" face for being that egregiously late. In that glance he immediately thinks that I need a roof replacement. I told him to fuck off and get out of my driveway so I can be on my way. I've heard of other horror stories from my block, Able did a couple of roofs that year.

I'm pretty sure I just threw up in my mouth a little. God, those things were ugly. I know that feel, bro. I just got my ER bill for $1100. There went my scooter purchase... MOTHERFUCKING THIS. Extra super bonus points for the wannabe yuppie clothes and/or mullet.

He said his knowledge was dated, I was merely trying to relate.

THEY UNDERSTAND ME, JERKFACE! *runs off to the forest*

Ah, the lovely circlejerk. I can't wait to be regaled with tales of how things would be in Republican bootstrappy Amurica.

fuck me sideways, we agree on something. I suddenly feel the need to buy some guns, preferably for a SHTF situation. The more tactical, the better.

stumpalumpagus wasn't talking about building a sick computer for playing Everquest, or trying to make it in the "removing popups for Dad" market. You have no real-world experience in these matters, and even worse, the experience you do have unanimously points to the wrong conclusion. In short, shut the fuck up.

My understanding was Apple borrowed heavily (like a shit-ton) from FreeBSD to make Cocoa. But what do I know, I'm just the Cisco plumber...

I'm happy things worked out for you. I will never forgive them for charging me 1000% on a 2.80 overdraft that was caused by their shady accounting of deposits and withdrawals to maximize the amount of OD charges they could draw. Unfortunately, my mortgage is owned by them, not by choice.

That's some awesome mental gymnastics there. I'm saying that it sounds to me like your experience in the IT field amounts to roughly fuck-all, and your demonstrated experience (at least on here) with personal and corporate development is less than that. However, you are not wrong about Windows Server 2008 R2. I honestly don't play in that space anymore so I had to look it up.

You like it, you dirty girl. If it's that much of a pain, you can come over to my sandbox and figure out OSPF and BGP border routing with VRF's thrown in just to fuck with you. I swear, some of these network drawings that I've seen look like a 3 year old went apeshit with a crayon.

First off, you need to ignore everything that Exarch has and will post in this thread. I've met you, I know you are a smart guy, but I feel this needs to be said. That out of the way... Both of these is how you should be proceeding right now. Your tone during this conversation is CRUCIAL. If you come off as jealous or vindictive, your boss is going to think you're going to jump ship any minute (which, of course, you're getting ready to do anyway) If you come off as Grand Moff Blosser suggests, it'll be a pain-free convo for both of you, and your boss should get the impression that you see what's going on and you're ready for some more responsibility. Now, whether you get the pay that comes with that is the real telling factor of how much they value you there. All that said, if you want some leads out of there I suggest you start hitting up headhunters like Robert Half, TekSystems, places like that. Be prepared for some interviews that don't go anywhere, and be prepared for some contract positions or contract-to-hire's. Contract-to-hires are very common, that's how we got our Level 2's from my last gig. It gives the hiring company a chance to see what kind of admin you're going to be, and if you don't pan out they can cut you very easily. Get in, bust ass, and get hired on. I don't know what your timeframe is like, but in this market (and especially in NEO), be prepared to wait a WHILE to find something good. When I left, I was actively looking for 6months before I finally found the gig I'm at now. Windows Server admins, sadly, are pretty much dime-a-dozen, so you'll have to get some good bonafides to stand out. I'd highly consider grabbing your CCNA if you have the time and the inclination, or if the Cisco space isn't where you want to play, learn something complicated in the MS space like SCCM or, if you really want to torture yourself, Sharepoint 2010. Above all, keep your head up. You're a smart guy with a good head on your shoulders, much better than half the dimwits I've worked with through the years. These things take time to work out now, I wish it was like the good-old-days of 2006, but it's not. Make efforts to grow in the gig you have, and if that fails, put your head down, do your job, and start building your skill level. You'll get through this.

Ain't that the truf. Even after pre-gaming at the bar, once I got back to the patio everything seemed to just stop.
