  1. home defense = shotgun. Unless you have enough practice with a handgun even if it is a monster like a .357 or a smaller .380 and everything in between you will be lucky to hit what you are aiming at during any high stress encounter if you are anything 10+ feet. Sound goofy but trust me that's how it works. With a shotgun you can rely on the spread of the double .00 buck shot. but then again you could be like me and have an AR15, a .40 and a 9mm ready at hand (i shoot very frequently and have been specially trained) - for your home defense. If you are concerned about your woman or anyone else getting to your gun that is chambered (a. never have a gun that is loaded without it being chambered....if its not chambered, whats the f'ing point? haha) they make nice lock boxes (check out GunVault) that with a few button pushes of a combo the door will unlock and your gun will be there or locked up or ready at hand within less than a second. Just my .02. Good luck with your search for what works for you!

  2. Congrats on your purchase! I bought an 01 bandit last summer just for kicks and it had about 38k miles on it, ya i rode it through west virginia after getting lost on gravel roads down there (never again will i go to west va) it held up pretty well. after needing to rejet the carbs, and multiple other issues it got sold about a month after purchase and i got the 650r, fuel injection and zero maintenance is awesome! haha

  3. My brother has two of the XD .40s one 4" and one subcompact. He loves both of them and brings them over every year (lives in chicago) and we go shoot. But i am just not a fan of the 9mm, round is too small with not enough knock down power, and i never want to have to say "Let me go get my nine"......but that's just me

Two to the chest and it won't matter if its a 9mm or a .40. IMO  (i have a 9mm XD, .40 sig, and a Ruger .380, .40 Glock 27; my fav to shoot is the XD:D)

P.S. you cant go wrong with an XD +1 for you, congrats on the new purchase!!!

  4. I don't know why we can't just SPONSOR this kind of stuff? Float the CDC a few bucks and write up a press release that they're searching for a vaccine for:

    Ohio Riders Flu

    Pontiac Pox

    McRib AIDS

    Kawasaki Disease

...wait, that last one is real.

+1 any publicity is good publicity!

  5. Oh that kid is gonna his ass beat if he make one step towards over the rhine.

    +1

The sad thing is the idea and concept is great but the reality is they are not super hero's, they are dudes in tights with no back up and not enough training to be doing what he is doing. Props to him for trying but when he gets killed people will be like "well duh, idiot leave it to those who are trained properly" oh well provides good entertainment in the mean time i suppose :dunno:

  6. Well I am not going to debate this with you because I work the streets here everyday, playing bball on w5th isn't really a good comparison. its standing at 4th/rowland, bulkley/johns, blymyer/1st, arch/mulberry, etc(many many more places)..buying crack and heroin might have more influence. Remember I mentioned per capita, Flint is almost 3 times as big as this city. And yes we do have a little Kentucky, half is in the city and half is out of the city, north on bowman by the steel mill, and out towards madison off of ashland road, yes we do have our fair share of hillbillies. :D

  7. And that would be? I've always wondered what happens if you run and don't get caught - it might be your plate, but they can't prove you were riding it.

Do you promise non-ghey action and excitement on the mean streets of Mansfield?

With the "can't prove you were riding it" mind set, my answer would be...it depends. honestly from the law enforcement side i dont care who was riding it, if you want to take it to court thats cool, thats your right as a citizen, I will testify to what I saw and collect my overtime for court, by that time you have racked up enough court costs to get a ticket thrown out that probably would be about $150 if you would have just paid it, then you add court costs...laywer fees...etc that will run you 450+ just to fight for principal?

And aparently you havent walked most of the streets here in mansfield that will promise for "non-ghey action and excitement". Heck our cruisers get shot at on occassion! good times had by all. - growing up in the area I never realized how rough "little Detroit" was, just always heard stories, but now that I have worked here for awhile I realized how sheltered and unknowning I was about how rough the city really is for its size.

  8. I think there's a bit of a difference between chasing someone for a traffic violation and running into a gun fight. That's apples and oranges to me.

Don't get me wrong pursuing a bike is not something that I would do on a minor traffic violation, if I got the plate then I would take another course of action personally, besides that I never have time to pull bikes or speeders in cars over I am usually too busy getting dispatched to calls, or sitting on dope houses, hell we have a crack house every 100 yards. traffic is for the highway nazi's OSP ;) I was just giving an example about either you want law enforcement to either protect citizens or not. Not when it comes to minor violations, but then again legal debates and law is so subjective we could argue for hours

NinjaNick- let me know if you are serious about riding along, you are more than welcome! The only thing is they are laying 25 officers off here on may 22nd, so I will be unemployed, but anytime before then when I am on shift you are more than welcome and I can set it up as long as you have never had a felony haha

  9. The fact that the officer was there meant that you were not alone.:violin:And what qualified it as a speed trap, that you were caught? And 6PM is the evening, not afternoon.

HGN or Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus is acurate to determine level of intoxicatication. If the officer did see Nystagmus, then chances are, he did see a level of alcohol influence in your eyes. Your room mate would have to have extensive training in checking HGN in order to see and check for HGN. It is not just a matter of waving a pen (or stylus) in front of someone's eyes to see the involuntary bouncing in their eyes. He, the officer, apparently did not see enough to think that you were over the legal limit.

    :plus1::banana:

NinjaNick - So what your saying is anytime an officer feels over his head he should turn around and go back home? Hell if that was the case then any officer responding to an active shooter, murder, stabbing, shooting, etc..protecting the rest of the public does not matter and we should just turn the other way and run? The entire idea of officers putting their life on the line everyday involves us entering situations to apprehend an offender in which a normal citizen would be going the other way. But thats just educated law enforcement opinion:D:popcorn: come do a ride along in our city and you might have a different citizen opinion ;)
