Congrats on getting it back together. Now I want to see a video of it post-tuning like that C6 Lingenfelter car that smoked the tires on the Dyno...I'll be waiting. Andy

330 or G35...or hell...even a 325. I drive an M3 and honestly sometimes miss our old 325ci coupe. It was a really great car, luxurious, sporty-enough (for it's purpose), got looks, did everything well. It's no race car but that's the point...you want something that you can get in and enjoy and not worry about all of the crap that comes along with owning something that's modded to be super fast. Both the G35 an 330 fit the bill. Wheels and subtle drop and enjoy it. Problem I see with the EVO is that it's a sure bet you'll start modding it too then suddenly one day you wake up and realize it's no longer a driver staus either.. Food for thought. Sold this car 2 years ago for $21 with 40K miles. You can pick up '01-'02 325's for stupid money these days if you shop around. http://autopia.org/gallery/data/500/Picture_028.jpg Andy

As droptop has stated...there are many ways to go about it but you're likely better having both insured at the same time. On whatever car you're not using for seasonal use you can drop down to comprehensive coverage only on that car which will still protect against vandalism or the like even if the car is not being driven. Often times the discount associated with having more than 1 vehicle is well worth it. Some companies won't give you the multi-car discount if one vehicle is comp-only so make sure you ask that question too. If your insurance agent values your business they will have no problems with you calling periodically to change coverages between the vehicles. If they bitch about it change companies!!! Andy

Seems like NTB has a stronghold on the town. Derek (TurboRust) works @ the downtown location and takes care of me on all of my allignment needs...which happens to involve camber plate adjustments on the M3 after every track visit. Andy

Oxidation problem, solutions?
AudiOn19s replied to suffocateXfaster1647545505's topic in Passing Lane
Whey you say you buffed it out was this via machine polisher or by hand...and what product were you using for the process. Generally cutting polishes that are designed to slightly level the clear and remove swirl marks are going to gum up pretty badly and quickly when dealing with oxidation. Your best bet is to go back over the car with a machine and a product that's a chemical cleaner. Meguiars ColorX is what I'd recommend first...or Meguiars Deep Crystal step 1 is also a paint cleaner. You could also check with NAPA and see if they can get you #9 from the Meguiars professional line. It does have some abrasives in it as well as cleaners and *could* gum up some. If you're willing to get products online Klasse AIO (all in one polish) is probably the best performing product I've used on oxidation. If you've got any questions my phone is alwyas on for help. 614-747-0002 Andy -

Guys: This isn't my car but I saw it the other night and it stood out as something that may be of interest to board members here. Thought I'd throw it out there to see if there was some interest. Contact Chip or Tim at Auto Assets to see the car and or for additional details: 614-793-1050 I was told the first $10k takes the car home. The details from the owner: 1992 Ford Mustang GT Road Racing or Drag Racing Capable of low 12 sec. Stempede: Norther Ohio Porsche Club has a novice day at Nelson August 11. It's stupid cheap (<$200) if I remember correctly, instruction for the whole day, out there with many other beginners AND if they run it like they did last year they will guarantee you a spot at their October Mid Ohio school to all of the participants in the Novice Day school. Might be worth a try...it's always pretty empty and it's not porsche exclusive or anything. My wife did it last year in the M3 and had a blast and then we both did their Mid Ohio school in October...NOR PCA is a great group of people. http://www.norpca.org Andy

I could post more " = Detailed" threads...but I figured everyone was probably getting tired of those by now.

Stempede. Nelson's a good time and at $120 it's a steal for track time...but don't expect Mid-Ohio type facilities. None the less it's a great way to get out and learn your car. The drawback to the Nelson days is lack of instruction...this is a big negative for beginners. I have seen instructors out there for 1 on 1 sessions though...and if you ask around there are usually several racers there that might be willing to jump in a car with you for a session to help out as well. But I've seen first hand and heard several horror stories of beinngers getting in over their head and crashing due to simple mistakes or simply over driving...situations that *should* be avoided with quality instruction. I've driven DJ's '05 and riden in Loren's '04 and have to say I'm impressed with the GTO. I had my impressions of what the car would be like and I have been proven wrong. It really is one of the better cars for the money on the used car market right now....and with that powerplant mod potential is HUGE. Andy

Nope...that wasn't me...but we did used to have an E46 coupe similar to that rollin on 19's of course. That guy is from TX...I spoke with him several times when I first stated my business. Miss this old car more than anything I've ever owned: http://autopia.org/gallery/data/500/Picture_028.jpg Andy

Thanks John and all, can't wait to get my hands on that 'vette on Friday...first C6 I've had the privelage to work on. Andy

For reference, Tom's car got: Exterior: Wash Clay Compound (x2 on horizontal surfaces) Polish Z2 (3 coats applied with the orbital) Z8 Polish exhaust tips (thank the wife...she was bored waiting for me to finish the paint). Interior: Dust Vacuum Wipedown pannels with cleaning mix Dressed Seats conditioned with Zaino Conditoner Carpets cleaned and extracted Glass I should really start taking more interior pictures..my wife works too hard on the interiors to not get any credit. Well it took two days because of a bone head move with my camera...but I got back to Tom's car to snap some shots. I'm not sure what this color is called...but it really showed an amazing range of blue color depending on the light. Thanks again Tom. If you've got an e-mail account that will accept the full resolution shots of the car please shoot me a PM and I'll pass them along. Honestly you don't need the entire Zaino kit...while it's a good idea and will be thourough...you can get just the clay and the Z2 and get by....of course you'd still have to pay the $9 flat rate in shipping but you could skip the other stuff and be fine. Without the ZFX (hardner) you can only do about 2 coats a day and then you have to wait 24 hours between coats to layer. There aren't many places locally to get boutique level products. Auto Assets carries the Enzette line (a.k.a 1Z) which is quality products...I hate their packaging though but the Glanz wax is a great product (finiky on dark paints so not an issue for you). Or my favorite run-of-the-mill product is Meguiars NXT tech wax (the liquid one not the paste). It's only downside is that it lacks durability of some of the "better" botique level stuff. Clay is clay...you can get the Clay Magic or Mothers kits just about anywhere. I highly recommend it in frequent intervals on white to avoid the spotting that comes from bonded contaminants. A pure cleaner / prep product might be another good idea on white. Look at the Meguiars #1 from the 3 step system or Meguiars ColorX for cleaning and prep. These would be used after clay and before the final protection of your choice. Andy
