  1. Here's how it works...the DOT had to have been notified prior to your incident that the pot hole in question was a problem...If they were aware of it and it had not been fixed when you hit it and caused damaged they are liable. If there are no reports on hand with the DOT that this was an issue they won't pay. Went throught this awhile back and took pictures, filed a police report everything...no good cause they weren't aware of the hole that I hit!
  2. Driving up Polaris last night in the M3 with a trunk full of groceries when I come upon a MK4 Gti going extremely slow...I was like "drive the speed limit dusche"...then I realized he was waiting for me. sorry I didn't really play man...wife in the car and trunk full of melting groceries...maybe some other time...from what I saw the car doesn't go bad though. Actually with the right wheels that car is exactly my style...very subtle...dropped, light tint, debadged, stealth other than that overly obvious polished front mount it's a super clean car...you'd like my A4 it's set up much the same way. Andy
  3. It was on channel 4 news last night at 11pm...so at least it's getting some exposure...but you're right the descriptions were pretty vague on individuals and I don't even remember a mention of a car.
  4. I'll back up everything John has stated...my best friend used to live at the Gardens at Polaris and it's a very nice community. My only complaint with it was the lack of extra parking. But he's right...my house is not to far from there up by the Bank One complex and in that area you can pretty much completely avoid all of the "traffic problems" associated with polaris by using Lazelle as a skapegoat to 23 rather than using polaris and 71. If you're looking for something that's also very nice and a little bit further away from the hustle of everything I used to live at Berkeley Park in New Albany....absolutely my favorite place I've lived...don't get me wrong I love my house...but Berkeley park was awesome. They have townhomes that are on the second and third floor of their buildings that should provide the space you're looking for in that pricerange too. They also have attached garages and I was able to get an additional garage at no charge thrown into my deal for both years that we lived there. New Albany is a great laid back atmosphere that is far enough away from everything to be quiet but close enough to Easton that you still can get to just about anything you want within 15 minutes. The 161 construction kinda puts a damper on that whole area right now though...but my wife and I def. plan on moving back out to that area in a few years when finances permit. Andy
  5. Eli, I'm glad you're happy with the outcome and I thank you and others in this thread for the kind words. For those interested in the process and products for this "overhaul"...there was a total of about 4.5 hours spent on the paint alone. My wife was kind enough to come help out with the interior for me so that I could concentrate on the paint. Exterior: *Wash with Zaino Z7 *Clay for about 1 hour for overspray...some still remains but lots was removed *Heavy polish with Poorboys SSR 2.5 and cutting pad *Light polish with Poorboys SSR1 and polishing pad *Zaino Z2 sealant *Optimum Car Wax topper *Wheel Wells cleaned with Special Green and dressed with 303 Aerospace Protectant *Tires Dressed with ??? (Crap can't remember...I think it was meguiars Hot shine or Megs high endurance gel...one or the other) *Glass cleaned with Invisible Glass Interior *Vacuum and dusted *Dasn and vinal dressed with 303 aerospace protectant *Carpets, Mats and Seats Shampoo'd *Glass Cleaned with Invisible Glass Overall...I'm very happy with the outcome. It's hard buying a black car second hand as this one was obviously not owned by a "car person" and the neglect to the finish was obvious..none the less I'm very happy with the results. Unfortunatly I didn't get any after pictures becuase it was 10pm when I finished...but here's a picture that depicts the tranformation a bit. This is of the passenger door half way through with the polishing. Left side polished, right side not. http://autopia.org/gallery/data/500/18052door1.jpg And Eli...here's an old shot of a car that may be familiar to some of you here...this is how I envision your car with some wheels and a little drop: http://autopia.org/gallery/data/500/18052picture_018.jpg
  6. Buckeye...Collinite makes great products that are as durrable as almost anything on the market...I just never recommend them because they're not as "Main Stream" as some of the other products. Only problems is that with anything durrable such as Klasse and Zaino...they're a bit of a bitch to work with..but once the work is done you won't be disappoitned.
  7. Zaino Shouldn't cause any problems...it's not silacone based...it's an Amino-Resin composition. Rejex has been viewed as a good product in detailing circles but nothignt outstanding as they claim. Durability seems to be the biggest complaint from users as they're not getting nearly what they want for durability out of it. No clue if you can get it locally or not? I'll sell you some samples of a couple of sealants if you want to give them a try and see which you like best.... I've got pleanty of any of the following: http://www.autogeek.net/wg5500.html **My favorite on black http://www.autogeek.net/klashiggloss.html **probably the most durable product known to man...PITA to work with though http://www.autogeek.net/plulpapr.html **slickest feeling product I've ever used
  8. a truely sad event. Thoughts and Prayers go out to the families.
  9. interesting bit on the Turbo's...learn something every day. There's a supercharger kit that's been a couple years in the making by RMS that is supposed to put down big numbers...and they did it through 8.5 compression and big boost...but after 2 years of development RMS still can't get the tuning right on the car. Conforti's the man...but bang for the buck software just plain sucks for the current M3's. I'll admit that I bought software but the 6hp peak can't even be felt...the only nice thing is the increased redline to 8250.
  10. People that appreciate such hard work will be expecting full pictures...so PICS OR BAN *edit* NXT is Meguiars NXT Tech Wax...one of the better products you can purchase over the counter. Andy
  11. None of them were supercharged from the factory...0 compaies currently make turbos for the car, and very few have successflly created supercharger kits. Active Autowerke and Discovery Atomotive are the only ones that have successfully done so without creating major motor distruction in the process. Dinan's is still in development.(hello the car has been around for 5 model years now...don't get me started on Dinan though). The main issue here is that the car comes with a 11.5 : 1 compression ratio...not a good place to start for FI. Still the S54 is such a maxed out motor from the factory that there's very little room for improvement. The fastest known supercharged E46 M3 right now is a car that puts 417hp to the rear wheels and trapps in the 119 range. But this was running water injection and AA actually loweres the redline to 7500 for their supercharged cars for reliability and efficiency even though the stock car makes peak power at 7900 rpm. So it's a great performer from the factory but isn't something you can expect to ever make huge power from. p.s....I seriously debated buying a C6 or C5 Z06 when I purchased my M3 a few months ago...but I couldn't be happier with my decision to go with the M3....and yes skip the SMG tranny unless you're intending on doing heavy track use with the car where this tranny is at home...6 speed for me thanks! Andy
  12. John that thing sounds down right mean!!!...
  13. My brother did a track day on the bike at Beaver the same day we did Mid Ohio and gave the same feedback...so I'll check into both of them. What I liked about the possibility of Nelson is that it's a cheap way to get out there and teach her the best I can before paying full price again for her to be in the car with an instructor... Auto-X is coming very soon as well. Andy
  14. Tanks for the replies guys...I'll be taking the M3...and actually I'm trying to get more seat time for my wife more than myself. We did the Tracquest DE at Mid Ohio last week and my wife is hooked but she's just not 100% comfortable with the limits of the car yet which is why I'm hoping that Nelson allows passengers for the fun days in order for her to ride with me and me with her to get her to better explore the limits of the car. She kept getting frustrated at Mid Ohio because trying to learn a very technical course while being unfamilier with the limits of the car was a little bit of information overload for her...she still had a great time but I think that she'd benefit from some more seat time learning the car. No matter how much her instructor or I told her that she could push the car harder she knew in the back of her mind that she'd have to drive the car to work the next day and didn't want to get in over her head...(better safe than sorry I suppose) but she was over 40 seconds a lap off of my pace...so eek...she needs a little more work. Andy
  15. Can anyone tell me the format and rules and regulations for these Fun Days. I know there's one coming up on June 17 but I'm not certain what does and does not go on at these fun days. I tried to find information on their web site but it's been down for forever and a day. Just looking to see what I should expect for track time...if passengers are allowed, ect. Andy
  16. S-10 and second gen RX-7 are the two that come to mind. Both cheap chassis to come across, both have readily available conversion kits on the market and lots of research backing the swap to keep you from making mistakes that others have made I built a small block S-10 as my first vehicle...what a rip...and while they're fairly common these days...there's always a place in my heart for a well put together small block s-10 swap. Probably the cheapest of all of the conversions as well. Andy
  17. My brother works for Classic Cycles on Morse and had a guy pick up a brand new ZX-12 about a month ago and he was soo excited about the purchase that he was determined to ride it home even in the rain. I guess just about evey person in the place warned him about how slick new motorcycle tires are in the dry let alone the rain. He pulled out onto morse rode and got into the middle lane to merge into traffic...gave it too much gas and lost the rear end dumping the bike not even 200 feet from the dealership...funny deal in retrospect but if you're a biker you've got to feel bad for the guy too. Andy
  18. LOL...John...that comment absolutely made my day!!!

    Florida

Ft. Lauderdale is a pretty good mix of people....and a great area...plus you're close enough that one night you could cruise down to Miami and check out Oceanfront Blvd. for the night...a must do if you've never been on a summer weekend night. And yes...FL has the worst drivers ever...got married in the Key's last year and spent a couple of weeks down there constantly between the Key's and Ft. Lauderdale where my wife's family lives and it was the most frustrating driving experience ever. Florida drivers don't understand that the left lane is for passing and have no courtesy with slow driving on the right. They pick their favorite lane no matter what speed you're driving...you'll quickly find that they won't move out of the way with even with light flahses...just be ready to dodge all of the 50mph left lane drivers that you come across because they're lost in their own world and won't move over.

    C43 AMG

Is this a new car or old car? C43 doesn't ring a bell and I was previously looking at the current body AMG C Class Benz's. The C32 was a supercharged V6 (350hp) which was replaced by the C55 (360hp) which is has a strong V8 in it...but I've never heard of a C43.
  22. In this situation I was clocked...and probably was 20+ over the limit but he only got me for 53 in a 35...so once the drag racing was thrown out the window so was the reckless because they were in conjunction with each other. I have been written up for reckless and not clocked before...cop was about 100 yards away across a field in a parking lot of a grocery store and saw me speeding on a brand new road and he "speculated" I was going 70+ (this was on a bike) but never clocked me. fought that one too and got out of the reckless again and plead it down to 40 in a 35 Andy

  24. The "Lots of People Involved" might make it very hard to fight. The hitch in my situation was that i was the only one ticketed so our defense was who was I racing if I was the only one ticketd. If I had been written up for exhibition of speed it probably would have stuck BUT since the drag racing did not stick neither could the reckless because I wasn't 20+ over the speed limit at time I was clocked. Sounds like a crappy deal...hope everything comes out OK for you. Andy
