I guess I would upset most of you. I go out without a mask. I try to respect others space but if you come into mine I don’t mind. TootallTim’s post about what you should and shouldn’t do sums up the understanding of this virus. I don’t disinfect everything, I don’t go around licking door knobs either. I try to use common sense and try to limit my trips out. If I need something, however, I go get it. I wash my hands and call it good.

Same. My coworker spends 45 min in the parking lot of the store disinfecting every item before it goes in her car on top of covering herself head to toe in clothing and wearing a mask and gloves.... I mean I don't hate on people who want to play it safe... But not leaving your house for weeks? Fuck, man. I don't think coronavirus is a hoax, but I think the media has created a monster here and I just don't think it's what it's made out to be. I understand people are dying. But people are always dying... I think the media is an evil machine and I think this whole stay at home lock down stuff is too much. If you disagree, then 🤷🏻‍♂️... That's what it's nice to live in 🇺🇸... Altho, don't forget where you live and what it means to be here... This stay at home nonsense could be a slippery slope.

In 4 days this thread will turn 10 yrs old...

    That's crazy!

If only this place was what it was 10 years ago...

**Edit: Damn, I just looked and I joined in 2009. I remember bubby @max power was the first person I met from here when he helped me trailer my salvage title VMAX to the BMV for an inspection. Crazy how time flies. Thanks for making me feel old haha.

  3. Also, if you're truly just killing rats, you can buy a cheap air rifle at Walmart... Ruger even make one.. Like $125 for a good one... You don't need a real gun for rats. I'd buy a nice handgun or shotty for intruders and a little 22 (or 17hmr) for your varmints

    My first choice.

The biggest hand cannon you are comfortable shooting. I would assume you would be fine with a good full frame 45. My wife who is not strong and never a gun nut is deadly with ours.

I am a huge fan of the FN 45. 16 rounds, not much kick and it is SA/DA. So you can store it decocked and the first shot is a long trigger pull DA. So really safe in the nightstand. Then the second and on is single action, quick short pull.

But there are tons of good guns out there. It boils down to what feels good in your hand.

For the rodents, depends how far away. A small bore rifle like a 22 if they are far. Shotgun if they are close. Nothing wrong with an AR either for that. And you are covered for zombies.

I LOVE da/sa triggers. Now that I'm more comfortable with guns than I used to be, any trigger is fine. But I always appreciate the long first pull of da/sa. I just spent over a grand on a bedside rifle, but if someone kicked my door in, my 40 cal handgun is going to be the go to just because it's got one in the pipe ready to go and it's way easier to deploy than a rifle. I have a hk p2000sk and the da/sa trigger is the "worst" one you can get... But I love it.

On that note... I once shot a racoon with 4 40. Cal Speer gold dots and he kept kicking... At $2 a round I stopped shootings and went in the house... Came out 10min later and the thing was finally done kicking... I'm not sold on ANY handgun round being adequate to put down varmint (quickly/humanely). Shotty will cover both scenarios.

  5. Shotgun. VR80 is gonna be my next.

Pretty much any handgun 9mm or bigger would be fine.

I just built a dedicated bump in the night "pistol" though too which is chambered in 300blk which is a very suppressor friendly round.. Which is the end goal.

You can't really go wrong here... I think chances of you ever needing said firearm are small enough that if/when you do, anything adequate will be enough.

Go buy VR80 shotty and load it with your flavor of round, slap a light on it and call it good.

Some trigger therapy in the desert was in order today... Fun fact, that ratty mag came from one of my best friends... He smoked terrorists using it in Afghanistan... It's got a special place in the collection

Got an offer so high on this rifle that I just had to let her go... My very first AR I ever owned lol. M&P Sport II - Bought it right after that Orlando nightclub shooting. I will miss her. Sold it to my stepdad though, and got enough money to rebuild the same rifle from scratch with a few different pieces I'd like... Win/Win

Does she have an aversion to scooters? Those can be cheap, reliable and take a lot of stress out of learnig how to navigate traffic and getting famiar with two-wheeled maneuvers. She can learn the fundamentals of motorcycle safety and ease into the mechanical inputs. She will have braking and countersteering under her belt, which will make focusing on shifting less daunting.

When I took the MSF class in Ohio, a woman showed up on an orange scooter, brand new off the lot. She said she didn't understand a clutch and just wanted something easy. She was the only person in the entire class that dropped their bike; I'm not all that convinced they're so much easier.

To be fair though, my mother took the MSF and dropped a bike during the final exam and shredded her knee ligaments. So it obviously goes both ways. I just always remember that woman on the scooter. I guess the advanced maneuvers were too much for her level of experience.

OP, If you buy her a scooter she would have to take it to the class (they won't supply one, so she'd have to take hers or learn on a motorcycle). In that case, it may be good for her to learn how to ride the thing around your neighborhood before she goes to the class so she can at least have some basic knowledge/comfort. While I know we all preach safety first, a scooter is no different than a big freakin moped to me and, idk about yall, but i know a ton of people - myself included - who rode those things around as kids with no formal training or license or any of that stuff. I could really say the same about dirt bike riders who learned at a young age.

The MSF is a very valuable class and I would never advocate somebody riding without taking it. However, I personally see no issue getting to know the vehicle you're operating before taking a class in/on it. In a similar way that shifting adds to the stress, so can being in a class environment surrounded by people who may or may not already know how to ride, and who may or may not be snickering at your scooter.

How some places stay in business is astounding.

Funny thing is, this place was apparently open in the town I live in before we moved here and closed because of bad service. They reopened and the service seems to not be any better. I left a pretty bad google review for them and it has over a thousand views and a ton of likes; I was even surprised by that to be honest. Not sure how long they will stay in business this time. Bad part is, the pizza is fucking delicious, so it sucks. We have one by my office and it's always been great. Their corporate number never called me back after I left a complaint with a live rep who seemed so concerned. So now, I just don't go to Rosati's. Fuck them and their delicious, over-priced pizza.

  9. I had a pizza incorrectly delivered to my neighbor and he's a gross hoarding weirdo. He called me when he saw my number on the receipt but I didn't want that food after its been in his house. Called the restaurant and they refused to resend it!! I had to dispute the charges with my bank. I never signed a receipt, so the bank sided with me. Was a pretty outrageous ordeal. I assume the restaurant would just send another pizza. It's not a fucking Picasso painting, it was a damn $20 pizza. Shit baffled me.

I have ridden several times and I get waves and nods from Sherriffs. Are you guys really being stopped and questioned?

Obviously not in Ohio but I don't understand the shelter in place shit... Are yall not supposed to even be outside? It's odd here, they said shelter in place but then they encouraged people to get outside and explore nature as long as we keep 6ft apart.... So I'm not really sure wtf we're supposed to do... My job printed letters for "essential" workers to carry around but the governor is encouraging people to do things... It's fucking odd

As for being stopped, I read that police pretty much aren't performing traffic stops right now unless you're being a shit head. I've been comfortably doing 20 over almost everywhere I go with no issue (even past cops)... Then again, the cops here are pretty chill about speeding even before this.

If I had to guess, 90% of the mean dog's ive met weighed in at less than 11lbs.

    QFT

My ex's grandma had a chihuahua named Shithead (I think he started out as Batman, but Shithead was more fitting). That little dog was a damn terror. I walked past it one day while it was sitting on a chair and it jumped up and started snarling at me. I made a fist and lunged at that little shit like I was gonna get him and he totally punked out. He didn't bother me the rest of the day haha.

I have used this term my entire adult life and have apparently not offended anyone that I know of. This association of the term with racism sounds made-up. Never heard this before.

That's what I said too. I was once a supervisor in a call center and had an employee file a complaint against one of my employees for using the word. I googled it and it's a real thing supposedly lol. Check for yourself.

    Ya racists. 🤷🏻‍♂️
