I see 50s for the morning. When we get to the good roads it will be in the 70s. By then who cares.

There's probably only a few good weekends left in the season. You have all winter to not ride. I rode for a few hours last night. Temps weren't an issue.

McConnelsville will be a gas stop and photo op by the river. Hoepfully, everyone fills up there so we are all on the same cycle for gas stops.

83/93 instersect in Otsego, which is a tiny nothing town. It will take us about 30 minutes to make it from Millersburg to Otsego. If anyone wants to meet at this spot, be there by 9:45.

Cool, it looks like we'll have 6-8 riders.

Will you be showing up on Sunday? I still haven't seen the MS other than pictures with deer residue.

The forecast is looking really good for Sunday. This reminded me of something. There will be some seasoned, quick riders on this ride. If anyone is working on trying to get smoother/quicker through the corners...ask questions at the meet spot or at gas stops. Experienced riders are generally willing to talk body position, or let you follow their line for a few miles. Lot's riding knowledge out there, that's how I learned...
  8. I had one. Fanstastic motor, crappy suspension. A CBRF3 shock will fit and improve the handling. I happen to still have an F3 shock and a 919 service manual if you get a 919.

  10. http://www.prweb.com/releases/harley-davidson/burn-lawsuit/prweb8701137.htm The complaint alleges that since 1999, Twin Cam 88, 96, 103 and 110 cubic inch engines in Harley motorcycles produce severe, excessive heat causing clothing to catch on fire, burn injuries and the danger of burn injury to riders and passengers as well as overheating causing premature engine wear and in models manufactured after 2006, transmission failure. Although Harley Davidson asked the Eastern District of California court to throw out the claims under state law, the U.S. District Judge sided with the bikers.
  11. Are you suggesting that the guy with pants on fire is a liar...liar?
  12. The problem with legal system is that it's run by lawyers. Apologies to Redkow
  13. On what bike? This complaint seems to be specific to the 96" and 103" HDs.
  14. I had one of these. Same year and color. I can tell you the Z750S is pretty bulletproof. No known or ongoing problems to worry about.
  15. This is what I read: External motor temps can exceed 240 degrees (hotter than coffee...wink, wink). Denim burns at 215 degrees. This may or may not be accurate.
  16. I think the big pay day is the motivating factor for the legal team. Not helping society. See Blockbuster. I'm sure there are exceptions.
  17. I agree that the woman was legitimately injured. I've had 3rd degree burns before, it's not the end of the world. For the $2.8 million she was awarded, later reduced to $640,000 (yes, I had to look it up) I would gladly let Ronald McDonald himself pour a pot of hot coffee on me
  18. You are probably right. Blockbuster was worst example of this I can recall. The settlement was something like half a billion $$ in coupons. And the lawyer fees were a percentage of that figure, but they got paid is cash , not coupons. What can they recall in this case? Maybe some kind of addon external heat shield? HD has been incrementally increasing engine size 80, 88, 96, 103. At the same time the EPA has been mandating a leaner state of tune. Both of these result in more engine heat. Seems like they have reached some kind on threshold. What really suprised me was the various 'unresolved' known issues that the HD owners are complaining about. Makes me feel a little better about the underperforming stator on my Buell.
  19. http://www.hdforums.com/industry-news/things-getting-hot-for-harley-davidsons-air-cooled-engines.php?=industrynews&utm_medium=Email&utm_source=ExactTarget&utm_campaign Apparently, there is a class action suit against HD that claims the 96" and bigger motors generate enough heat to cause serious burns and ignite denim. Did you know that the new motors cut out the rear cylinder at idle to try to manage excess heat? I didn't. At first, this seems laughable. These days, with people get paid for McDonald's coffee being too hot you never know. A judge has already ruled that the lawsuit can move forward. http://www.hdforums.com/forum/general-harley-davidson-chat/671434-hd-sued-over-excess-heat.html This thread on HD forums talks about the lawsuit. Some for it, some against. It then turns into a 50 page bitchfest about unresolved mechanical issues on newer HDs. Eventually it was locked by the moderator.

Re: Cruiser I just had a 2012 Fatboy as a loaner bike for 10 days. It was absolutely the least fun I've ever had on 2 wheels. See CORE board for detailed hatred. I grew up riding cruisers. After owning more capable motorcycles, a Fatboy is big step backwards. The most fun cruiser I've ever had was a 3rd gen Magna (actually owned 2 of those), fun motor and respectable handling. YMMV.
