  1. Are you suggesting that the guy with pants on fire is a liar...liar?
  2. The problem with legal system is that it's run by lawyers. Apologies to Redkow
  3. On what bike? This complaint seems to be specific to the 96" and 103" HDs.
  4. I had one of these. Same year and color. I can tell you the Z750S is pretty bulletproof. No known or ongoing problems to worry about.
  5. This is what I read: External motor temps can exceed 240 degrees (hotter than coffee...wink, wink). Denim burns at 215 degrees. This may or may not be accurate.
  6. I think the big pay day is the motivating factor for the legal team. Not helping society. See Blockbuster. I'm sure there are exceptions.
  7. I agree that the woman was legitimately injured. I've had 3rd degree burns before, it's not the end of the world. For the $2.8 million she was awarded, later reduced to $640,000 (yes, I had to look it up) I would gladly let Ronald McDonald himself pour a pot of hot coffee on me
  8. You are probably right. Blockbuster was worst example of this I can recall. The settlement was something like half a billion $$ in coupons. And the lawyer fees were a percentage of that figure, but they got paid is cash , not coupons. What can they recall in this case? Maybe some kind of addon external heat shield? HD has been incrementally increasing engine size 80, 88, 96, 103. At the same time the EPA has been mandating a leaner state of tune. Both of these result in more engine heat. Seems like they have reached some kind on threshold. What really suprised me was the various 'unresolved' known issues that the HD owners are complaining about. Makes me feel a little better about the underperforming stator on my Buell.
  9. http://www.hdforums.com/industry-news/things-getting-hot-for-harley-davidsons-air-cooled-engines.php?=industrynews&utm_medium=Email&utm_source=ExactTarget&utm_campaign Apparently, there is a class action suit against HD that claims the 96" and bigger motors generate enough heat to cause serious burns and ignite denim. Did you know that the new motors cut out the rear cylinder at idle to try to manage excess heat? I didn't. At first, this seems laughable. These days, with people get paid for McDonald's coffee being too hot you never know. A judge has already ruled that the lawsuit can move forward. http://www.hdforums.com/forum/general-harley-davidson-chat/671434-hd-sued-over-excess-heat.html This thread on HD forums talks about the lawsuit. Some for it, some against. It then turns into a 50 page bitchfest about unresolved mechanical issues on newer HDs. Eventually it was locked by the moderator.

    9/18 Ride to SEO

Re: Cruiser I just had a 2012 Fatboy as a loaner bike for 10 days. It was absolutely the least fun I've ever had on 2 wheels. See CORE board for detailed hatred. I grew up riding cruisers. After owning more capable motorcycles, a Fatboy is big step backwards. The most fun cruiser I've ever had was a 3rd gen Magna (actually owned 2 of those), fun motor and respectable handling. YMMV.

When we turn on 78W, you could peel off on 800N. That stretch of 800 is pretty fun.

Is that why you're making room in the garage?

I'll be passing through Lodi about 8:10-8:15, but we are meeting further South on 83 in Millersburg. Anything north of M'burg is mostly a straight boring parade ride anyway

    Ahhh...I don't think that's the section we'll be riding. We'll be on 550 from 377 to Marietta.

Your pace can be mild to wild as long as it's within your limits. I tend to carry a nice sporting pace through the corners, but rarely get above 75-80 on the straights. So, if the group gets spread out it's pretty easy to catch up on the straights. Also, we'll stop at intersections to count bikes.

This is the same route we did a few weeks back, minus the 148 detour.
  17. I would be into this if I didn't already have 2 in the garage. Bump.

    9/18 Ride to SEO

I did this route solo a few weeks ago and was home by 4. On solo rides I tend to only stop when the fuel light comes on, and then just long enough to fuel up. With a group we should be back to NEO 5:30ish. IMO, that's just about perfect.

    9/18 Ride to SEO

This is a make up of a 9/11 CORE ride that was called due to crappy weather. I thought I would post here also. So far there are 3 or 4 attending. For a south route 83>78>377>550>Marrietta. North Marietta>26>260>7>800>78>556>145>800. This is a fun twisty route, and the roads are all in pretty good shape. For the Cleveland area people, this is 450ish miles. Less if you're further south. Meeting spot: Millersburg Speedway on 83 @ 9, wheels rolling by 9:15. The first gas stop will be in McConnelsville 10:30-10:45ish if you want to meet further south. Disclaimer: Wear gear, ride within your limits, no one left behind, be on time, etc, etc. No planned meals = snacks at gas stops. ***Edit: more disclaimers Passing each other: Only to adjust the riding order and not in corners. Passing cars: If the rider in front of you makes a pass, that doesn't mean that you need to stay right behind him. Pass when YOU have an opening. General dumbfuckery: keep it to a minimum.
  20. I would NOT buy 3d now. There isn't much media available. Plus, the 3d TVs that will come out in the next year or 2 will me much better and cheaper.
