  1. I own a car wash...so snow + salt = $
  2. There may be a few cases of failed motors, but by and large they seem to be few and far between. Rotax makes a good mill. As part of the Buell shutdown, HD wound up with a LOT of 2010 1125 motors in crates that they have no itention to use. So, if there is an 1125 with a mechanical issue they seem to be replacing the entire motor rather than spending much time diagnosing or fixing. HD already bought the 2010 motors so replacing is the cheaper option. There are plenty of 1125s that have run beyond 40-50k already. IMO the motor is solid, HD support...not so much. I am really curious to see what the 1190RS dealer network is going to be. Guessing is will be affiliated with Can Am or Bombardier. Hopefully, they will support 1125 owners as well...I suspect they will.
  3. Does that include the Katana trailer surcharge?
  4. I put an EBR Race ECM on my '09 (keeping the stock exhaust). The bike really came alive. It also runs cooler and MUCH smoother. The Race ECM should be a mandatory mod for anyone that owns an 1125.
  5. That pic has some hang time, but very few actually sold at that price during the fire sale. I think most were in the $6-7 range. I'll be very curious to see how many of the 1190RS pieces fit the 1125. I suspect ERB will support the 1125 more so than HD.
  6. Xenia is a strange place: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119237/
  7. I have no interest in owning a Harley. But it looks like I'm a partial owner already
  8. I bought the GF a Nighthawk 250. It is a great beginner's bike. It was cheap, reliable, and served it's purpose.
  9. ZTL is a good example... After 3 generations of ZTL, stopping power is on par with the best dual disc binders that have been in developement for 25+ years. Plus ZTL gives lots of feel. The advantage of the ZTL was never stopping power, it's weight. It's sheds something like 4 pounds of unsprung weight and most of that is in the front wheel. The only other way to shed that much unsprung weight is carbon fiber wheels and you can't do that at a price point that will actually sell.
  10. Somehow I don't think that EB would agree with that. From the interviews I've seen/read, I'd say the man genuinely believes the technology gives an advantage. The underpowered 1125RR was consistently scoring top tens in AMA Superbike this year...something must be working. We'll know for sure if the 1190RS gets homolgated into Superbike for next season
  11. I usually don't carry that much ammo when I ride.
  12. The benefit probably has something to do with changing the COG by moving the motor lower or further to the rear. It'll be interesting to see if it appears in a production model.
  13. A servicing dealership that is not affiliated with HD.

If you want a .22 target, get a Ruger or a S&W. Both are stupid accurate & the Ruger has tons af aftermarket parts available.

  16. I can't recall the exact lot size, but it's about 50w x 250d. The lot next door was just occupied by a body shop. It would have been perfect for detailing.
  17. ...it's an 88 Magnum. it shoots through schools.
  18. A car wash is a weather driven business. Winter is the busiest season. Snow and salt = $. The maintenace isn't terribly complex, it's more a matter of getting familiar with the different pieces of equipment. Hoses need to be replaced, coin acceptors can fail, etc.
  19. Do you know anyone who is looking to buy a business? I'm getting ready to sell a 4 bay self serve car wash. I'm not going to post financial info here. I will say it's profitable & it's had really good growth over the last 2 years, despite the crap economy. In many ways it's the perfect business to run. It's setup to run unattended, little to no customer interaction, no collecting money, and no employees (if you're handy with tools). I will train the new owner/operator as needed. I'm selling because I'm planning to move further away and I have a 1 year old. I am planning to list it with a business broker around Feb or March, but I figured I'd post here first.
