  1. Not saying that you can't get pulled over. Am saying there is a very low probability. Don't ask me how I know this.
  2. We are not going to get pulled over. We are going to lane split only where it is warranted & the leos will be blocked in unless they are on motorcycles and are willing to lane split too.
  3. No worries. I think you fooled us all.
  4. Thanks for your hospitality Sam. It was great to get out & see everybody that showed up today.
  5. Lane splitting can be done the right way or the wrong way. If you do it the wrong way you are at the mercy of the drivers for your safety. If you do it the right way you control your safety no matter what the nuts in cars do. Lane splitting on a regular basis trains riders to always focus on the spaces between the other vehicles rather than the vehicles themselves. This may seem like semantics to the naysayers but it really does make a big difference in safety. You go where you look.
  6. Just Do It. Johnny Law frowns upon it & drivers take it as a personal insult but is the right thing to do.
  7. I woud definitely be down for this except my back is fup duc right now. Hopefully in a few weeks.
  8. There is a high probability that I won't be able to make it. I threw my back out last Friday & it's not getting better quickly.
  9. Mileage is now 6,399. Had to make sure everything checked out ok after that long winter layup. Bikè is good to go.
  10. Clutch pull on the m696 is actually pretty light.
  11. She liked the bike but has determined that cruising is more her style at 55 years old. She has her eye on a new Kawasaki Vulcan S. Her 1st bikè was a Suzuki S40. The Duc would be suitable for a beginner that wants to learn sport riding. It will eat up corners with no chance of breaking the back tire loose on corner exits (approx 70 rwhp, just over 400 lb wet weight). No ground clearance issues, Good brakes (Brembos with braided stainless steel lines). It definitely has that Ducati sound too. A good rider would be able to keep with the group on any ride that is not mach-retard pace.
  12. Original owner (my wife). 6,387 miles (may go up slightly, but no trips planned). Never down. Always garaged. Pazzo Levers, Upgraded mirrors (stock ones were, well, Ducati mirrors), 1 1/4" handlebar risers. Otherwise, bike is stock. Timing belts replaced & valves checked (good) by DucRx last August at 6,100 miles. 800 miles on Pirelli Angel GT tires. $5,000.
  13. Pretty Vague question. Best at what? Curves in the road & you gotta get to point B as soon as you can: Yamaha- R1M KTM- Super Duke 1290 Ducati- Superleggera BMW- S1000rr Aprilia- RSV4 Factory Honda- CBR1000rr SP Suzuki- GSXR1000 Triumph- Datona 675R Harley- N.A.
  14. Have you got any foot pegs left on that thing? I'll be there on my touring bike.
  15. No wonder you get harrassed. Seriously though: Arguing with cops is futile & counterproductive, no matter what your rights are.
  16. Just another example of laws being passed by people without a clue. I couldn't find anything on it now but I remember a few years back one of our enlightened lawmakers was proposing that seat belts be required on motorcycles. Kudos to the cops though... Every time I have been pulled over on a motorcycle I've been wearing earplugs & the LEO never mentioned it.
  17. Excellent. Great fan participation too.
  18. Confirmed. I'll bring some kind of side. Man cannot live on wieners alone.
  19. Good links here. These are where I did most of my research before buying my last 2 helmets (Arai RXQ, Bell RS1) & my wife's new Shoei Quest from Riders Discount. Don't be a chump & try on helmets at a brick & mortar then order from a web store. Most of the web stores have good return/ exchange policies so I am told. I haven't had to return anything to date & have no complaints about any of the helmets I have purchased this way.

Yep. I usually just commute around here & head to southern Ohio or at least to the Coshocton area for some turns.
