  3. Yeah, the one you need to strip the weapon!

    :nono:

gotcha! this makes sense....like i said, i couldnt see the point of one but when you explain the reasoning behind it it makes more sense....i still chalk it up to preference though...i can see your advantage being that it cant be used against you - but at the same time you cant use it either during the struggle....guess thats whats great about firearms - theres so many options it allows someone to carry exactly what they prefer and feel safest with

Yeah it's all personal preference. I just don't want to be rolling around trying to secure a firearm that could shoot me.

  4. i have a nanovault also and hate it...i dont trust the cable at all, but in a single cab truck i dont have many options...i have a toolbox behind my seat that takes up my ledge so i cant bolt anything there...i may end up doing something else, but im thinking i may not bother...

hell, the nanovault seem so cheap anyways i dont see why a thief couldnt get into one with a pry bar anyways....when mines closed theres a gap in it big enough to slip a pry bar in - and i dont imagine that cheap $30 box being that tough

It's not a safe, just a lock box. Makes it more difficult not impossible to steal. But what else can you do other than don't keep it in there or bolt an actual safe in your truck.

  5. personal preference i guess - if i was in a struggle with someone that was violent enough that my gun was being manipulated in a way that the mag release might be hit - the last thing i want to worry about it trying to free up a hand to reach for a spare mag

curious though - why was it a must have for you? whats the other side of the argument? i cant think of a single reason to have it, so im curious to hear your reason behind it

You don't reach for a spare mag in the middle of a struggle. You clear and then re engage with a loaded firearm. The last thing I want to do is have my own firearm used against me. If it is taken and I can drop the magazine, he can't engage me with it. I can then go to a BUG or another tool. Without the disconnect, if it is taken and I can drop the mag, he still has one round that could be fired. Of course the object is weapon retention, but that is just one more tool I have at my disposal if it hits the fan.

    Situation dictates, of course.

Like I had said in the other thread, sometimes when I keep it in my car, I will remove the mag and store them separately. At lest if it is stolen, it can't be used immediately.

  6. i would prefer to not have a mag disconnect, especially for concealed carry...if there was a struggle like the guy who got jumped at that gas station in dayton, the last thing i would want to worry about it the mag release getting hit in the struggle and the round left in the chamber being worthless

thats a feature that isnt make or break a buy for me, but it is a feature im glad my EDC doesnt have, along with a thumb safety

Which is why you carry extra mags. It was one of the must haves on mine.

  7. They gotta do something!

The mag disconnect safety is one thing that the M&P has as an option that would be nice to have, but for a non-LEO CCW, I would hope to not be in close enough quarters with an attacker to worry about that. Isn't 20 ft. the "minimum distance" (statistic?) from an assailant to be able to draw and fire?

P.S. I thought of your FB post right after I typed statistic, Tbut!

Yeah it's somewhere between 20 and 30 feet I think.

  8. isnt s&w pretty much giving those M&Ps away to police agencies?

i know they were doing straight up trades for used HKs with some police departments.

smart move i guess, to get your foot in the door or whatever....but i know they got some contracts simply because they were trading brand new guns for old used ones at no charge

this is regarding washington state patrol....sounds like their product wasnt good enough to sell itself, so they had to give it away lol

some places did. It's really hard for a department to change firearms. A fear of the unknown. But now more of the smaller departments are buying them since the bigger departments like them.

  9. I know who you're talking about. He's seriously selling that vehicle now. :( I'm sure he's got another in the vehicle he's driving now, or moving that one. You know how he is!

I just talked to him a couple of days ago. He says he keeps dropping the price on it and no one will buy it. He's about ready to just keep it.
