  1. Ok, so take it up with the state dept. from '00 to '08 why they didn't use Bush's book :dunno:

And I take it by the lack of response that you haven't read Obama's book. Id post what the subject matter is, but im on a cell phone and not a computer.

You brought it up. You said

Maybe the subject matter is relevant to diplomacy

No I didn't read them. That doesn't negate the fact a kids book isn't about diplomacy. Is this where you'd like to bring up they did it for the kids? Because your whole argument has been "for diplomatic purposes"

I have no idea why the state department didn't buy his books, didn't know that mattered as to why the state department did buy Obama's.

  2. Issue 3

    Proposed Constitutional Amendment

TO PRESERVE THE FREEDOM OF OHIOANS TO CHOOSE THEIR HEALTH CARE

    AND HEALTH CARE COVERAGE

    Proposed by Initiative Petition

To adopt Section 21 of Article I of the Constitution of the State of Ohio

A majority yes vote is necessary for the amendment to pass.

The proposed amendment would provide that:

    1. In Ohio, no law or rule shall compel, directly or indirectly, any person, employer, or

health care provider to participate in a health care system.

    2. In Ohio, no law or rule shall prohibit the purchase or sale of health care or health

    insurance.

    3. In Ohio, no law or rule shall impose a penalty or fine for the sale or purchase of health

    care or health insurance.

    The proposed amendment would not:

    1. Affect laws or rules in effect as of March 19, 2010.

    2. Affect which services a health care provider or hospital is required to perform or provide.

    3. Affect terms and conditions of government employment.

    4. Affect any laws calculated to deter fraud or punish wrongdoing in the health care

    industry.

How does everyone feel about this one? I'm for it.

  3. Oh and here's a book written by GWB published in 1999, before he was president.

So no, not all their books were post-presidency memoirs. And it's about his political stances.

In this political memoir, the governor of Texas and front-runner for president in the year 2000 tells us who he is and what he stands for. The George W. Bush who leaps off these pages has his father's energy, his mother's tart and honest wit, and his own irreverence and impatience. He has prospered as George and Barbara's boy -- "How can I deny it?" -- but has walked a very fine line between loyalty and independence.

He addresses the questions that may well decide who becomes the next president: crime, education, abortion, tax and tort reform, and the continuing battle "for the soul" of the Republican Party. He is, by no one's definition, a conventional candidate.

  4. I use Bush as an example because its RECENT and usually because 'if its its good for the goose, it should be good for the gander' to keep the hypocrites at bay. Obviously this isn't an example because they didn't buy Bush's or Clinton's books, but has anyone actually read the books listed in the article? Maybe the subject matter is relevant to diplomacy vs. Bush or Clinton books which, iirc, are memoirs post-presidency, which aren't really relevant until after-the-fact.

"Of Thee I Sing" is a kid's book so I doubt it has much to do with diplomacy...

So, you're accusing the state dept of laundering money to the president? Really, that's where you wanna take this argument?

Re-read it. Did I say I was accusing the state department of laundering money? Nope, sure didn't.

I'm only hung up on it because I got trolled into the 'where are all the Obama defenders in this thread?' comment, plus - I had time to argue in between test runs.

    uh huh

  5. Wowz!

I'm breaking down my 65gal reef tank this weekend that I've had up for a year. Probably going to sell it off. I'll still have a 30gal cube I've been preping for a lionfish, and a little 3.4gal pico reef.

But the most awsome tank I've seen is one in a radisson in Berlin.. It's even got an elevator through the middle.

Yeah, I've seen that one. It'd be awesome to go in the elevator. Probably not practical for a home aquarium, but then again like jblosser hinted to, is the 4,000 one practical for most people? lol

  6. Video posted in first post. I love the opening at the bay window. That's cool.

    very awesome

i was reading about a big home made one like this that had to be shut down....i wonder if it is this one, the article comments are from 2010.

the one i read about was creating so much humidity it was destroying the house around it and had to be removed....not sure if its this one though

i cant imagine all the work it would take to maintain one of those! its badass though

I can understand the humidity ruining the house. I couldn't find anything that said this was the one that had to be removed.

  7. This.

    Per the article Casper posted:

    1) These decisions were made by people in the state dept.

Very good. Who said they weren't?

    2) Its common to give books away as gifts of diplomacy

You want to keep saying "Well Bush did...". So As per Casper's article:

A review of the expenditures in a federal database did not reveal any examples of State Department purchases of books by former Presidents George W. Bush or Bill Clinton
Obama and Clinton didn't benefit from the sale of any of their books. If Obama was smart, he would come out and say "I had no idea this was happening. We don't have the money for this and it's wrong for me to gain financially from the spending of your tax dollars. I am therefore ceasing the buying of my books with your money and donating 100% of the profits to _______" I won't hold my breath.
    3) Obama personally stands to gain, what, around $6,000? And he typically donates over 40x that much each year. So, 90% of that money went to whatever publishing company printed the books, "creating" or keeping those jobs... I figured the conservatives would be happy about that :dunno:
So the ends justify the means is what you're saying. Heck, we could start laundering money. Imagine all the jobs we could make. And Obama could skim some money off the top. It'd be just a little so it's not a big deal.
So, there's nothing to defend. No matter what Obama does or doesn't do - haterz gon hate. Billions spent by Bush playing in the Iraqi sandbox, and people are raising a fuss over $70k of "waste" on diplomacy that wasn't even directed by Obama to buy his books.

    Got it.

Again, why are you hung up on Obama being the one who did it? I don't think the articles said he did and I didn't say it. Defensive or something? How many other frivolous expenditures do you think there are? I mean it's just $70K. We have a surplus of money and all. It's not that much money in the grande scheme of things, we can splurge.

This has nothing to with Obama from what I read except the book is about him.

Wow, you too? Let me go back through the articles and the posts......The only place I think you guys could have gotten the Obama bought the books would be from my post:

Spending your tax dollars to buy his book? Not to mention he profits from that. Its not major money but here we are in debt and this is how our money is spent? Thar doesn't seem the least bit wrong to you?

I guess you were trying to infer something that wasn't there. Maybe I should have said:

The state department is spending your tax dollars to buy Obama's book? Not to mention Obama profits from that. Its not major money but here we are in debt and this is how our money is spent by the state department? Thar doesn't seem the least bit wrong to you?

  8. Well here is a snippet from your wiki link. Good luck!

Because pure juice contains little to no fiber, juice fasters often use an enema or a herbal or saltwater laxative during the time of fasting to efficiently expel waste from the intestines and colon.
