  1. We have the Eureka Timberline 2 and the Eureka Apex 2xt. Both are backpacking tents (timberline is very light), inexpensive, but very effective at doing what they are supposed to. The Timberline 2 would be my choice out of the two if it were me and a motorcycle.

I can't remember exactly what brand I have. I'll need to look. It's only 2 poles and like 8 stakes, more if you use the rain fly. It's so damn quick to put up and I think it's got a decent wind rating. Also if you don't use the rain fly, the top is just mesh so you can see the sky. I think it's a two man but it's been so long since I used it. It's really a one man plus your gear. It's what I'd take backpacking and worked well with my dog.

If I think about it tonight I'll see exactly what tent I have.

  2. It's the beginning of the end?

Sept 11th(NY) Jan11th(Haiti) and Mar 11th (Japan)...Luke 21:10-11 - Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven." Jesus says, For behold I come quickly.

  3. What kind of Barney Fife dept are you getting on that you have to buy your own gun?

Most smaller departments you start of auxiliary and are required to have your own firearm. If/when you get on full time they supply you with one.

***EDIT: Nice weapon Chebby. Cowlumbus police? I spoke with one the other day (informally, I wasn't pulled over), and he carries an M&P 40, says it's department standard.. Smith makes nice weapons - they're not XD's, but still pretty good...:D

    Not CPD.

  4. It's a great gun, I carry mine everywhere. Did you get all 3 grip sizes with it?

All three grips and an extra pin.

Ah! So you DID puss out on riding up to get it!

I was willing/wanting to but mom really wanted to go since it's been 20 years since she's been up there.

i think its a little comical that you have a .45 compact and a fullsize .40 lol...seems a bit backwards to me!

but im not hatin', ide take either one as a second gun!

I'm carrying the .40 now and leave the .45 at home. The .40 hold 15+1 and the .45c hold 8+1.

    He has a specific reason.

I got into the police academy and since I have a department kind of lined up to get on, I'll need this gun.

I have heard this repeated many times but with no real evidence to back it up just anecdotal hearsay. Unless a CCW instructor has a law degree to support his opinion or personal knowledge of this type of prosecution they should preface their statements regarding this matter with a disclaimer of what you are about to hear is just a made up scenario I have heard about on the internet that might be possible but no one really knows. If it is a good shoot then prosecution is not likely so then civil prosecution isn’t possible. If you are in court in a self defense shooting you have more problems to worry about than if you changed your magazine release out for an extended one. In this case I think I will be alright because I plan to make the handgun more friendly by taking away some of its capacity and stippling it will make it safer for everyone because I will hold onto it better so I won’t drop it and hurt someone.

    Beat me to it.

  5. Nice grab. The nightsights and extra mags make that a good buy for sure.

Definitely. I'm surprised someone else didn't pick it up first. I had to go to Warren to get it but my mom got to visit where she grew up.

  6. Is there a date and location set?

Date is set. Don't think a location has been.

So the weekend is picked, April 29 - May 1st. Now the question, where? SE Ohio or West Virginia? If WV, I was thinking the New River Gorge route that's been posted: http://www.ohioriders.net/showthread.php?t=57535

As for food, we won't be too far from civilization no matter where we go. We can stop at a store near where we camp. We can all just chip in and buy stuff to cook for everyone, or however wants to do their own thing is more than welcome too.

  7. Have you fired an XD? I wound up with an XD40 that was too good of a deal to pass up. The grip fits my hand much better than a Glock. Shot the XD the other day for the first time. I was impressed with the accuracy and the pistol overall. I prefer it and my M&P to the Glock 22 I used to own.

The XD fits a little better but still not as good as the M&P. I would like to try the XDM? that has the different backstraps to see how it fits.

  8. They fit my hand like shit also but I can't find another that I can shoot better. I haven't found another handgun that fit's me better than an M&P, have you tried to shoot many Glocks?

I'm looking for a junk ugly well used G17 right now. I'm just going to cut it to accept 19 magazines and possibly stipple it. Trying not to spend more than $400.

Shot a couple. I don't notice much difference in shot patterns.

  9. Looks doubtful that I'll be able to make the cutoff for this, since I'll just be taking the class next weekend. :(

You might be able to make it. If you take your stuff yo Franklin County Sheriff (you can go to your county or any adjacent county) they have like a one day turn around. Licking took two weeks to get mine back for me.
