Largest Gathering of Gold Star Families

April 9, 2004 Pvt. Keith Matthew (Matt) Maupin was captured in Iraq when his fuel convoy was ambushed. On April 9, 2006 the Yellow Ribbon Support Center, founded by the Maupin family, organized the 1st “Let Us Never Forget” Event held at the Oasis Conference Center.

Families who have lost a member to war are called “Gold Star Families”. Since the “Let Us Never Forget” event recognizes not only the fallen heroes, but also their families, it has become the largest gathering of Gold Star families at any one event in this area, if not every area of the country.

Our job will be to stand a flag line, and use golf carts which are provided by the Oasis Golf Course.

We will use the Golf carts to shuttle people from the parking lot to the Conference Center. Once the event is over, we will shuttle the people back to their vehicles. If you plan on eating dinner the cost has been cut in half for PGR members and you can pay at the event. The meal cost will be $25.00 ea.

I would like to get a head count, so please e-mail me ASAP if you plan on being there and plan to eat. So far we have 8 people. If you have never been to this Memorial Event please make an effort. We have had the privilege of watching over the Gold Star Families when they are all together.

District # 7 Ride Captain Mike Hamilton is assigned this Mission of never forgetting those that have paid the ultimate price. Please follow his instructions.

  3. ^grrrr you gota 6 pack! LOL

    :D Only when I'm riding ;)

Is there any difference between a name brand jacket and gettn a generic one? Or is it just preference and the technology is all that matters?

I don't think so. I'm sure some off brands can be crap but my jacket seems to be well made. The only thing I don't like about it since the sleeves zip off if it rains water leaks through the zippers. I rain jacket would fix that though.
