  1. I'll have to give Jeff a call when I finally decide to get my tint redone. The back glass is suffering from the cheap tint syndrome, that is bubbling and turning purple. I can't complain too much though, it was already done when I bought the car!

  2. Nothing is required, except insurance (by law).

Eye protection is required, and if you just have a learner's permit, or a license for less than a year, a helmet is required.

The rest is really for us - we're selfish.

When we're riding with you, I don't want to come into a turn hot only to find out you've stained it with blood and caused me to wreck too.

    Nice way to put it!

Pants are just a good idea, but unless I'm on a trackday I usually am geared up with everything BUT pants - so I'm going to be a hypocrite and not practice what I preach.

I usually only put on the riding pants when I'm going for a long, or more spirited ride.

  3. Helmet, gloves, jacket and pants, after insurance and license.

DO NOT ride without license or insurance, and do not ride without gear.

You can get some of the gear for less, but the more you can afford the better. I have around $100 in a Snell 2005 approved helmet, about $150 in a textile jacket with shoulder and elbow protection, about $50 in a pair of summer gloves, about $100 in colder weather gloves, about $ 130 in textile pants.

  4. See' date=' thats why I love this place, its like "try-it-before-you-buy-it", let someone else try it first and let me know :p[/quote']

From what I've read about it, you won't get anything that most people would expect. I don't think there is ANY US based programming on there. It must not have been on here that I heard about it, maybe it was on another forum. I can't remember, but it was within the past month or so.

  5. The labor guide says 1.1 hours.

    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    2. Remove the spring retainers off the edges of the VCM.
    3. Slide the VCM out of the bracket at an angle.
    4. Remove the connectors from the VCM

Is the new one already programmed for the vehicle it's going into?

There's also a procedure that you have to go through to get the PCM and the Body Comtrol Module (BCM) to learn the fuel "password" that is part of the anti-theft system. It takes about 1/2 hour, and lot's of waiting in that 1/2 hour!

  6. well after talking with a mechanic friend of my dad's and checking a few other things it looks like it may just be some condesation in the crankcase so i should be ok. forget i posted for now.

Post back up if the oils looks funky as you drain it.

  7. I did not see anything offered by Columbus state at all:confused: Could you possibly direct me to some more info on this because i didn't see it on their site.

time is the issue there. Everyone wants to still be able to buy bikes right? lol. Not to mention they want you to take a few other classes before the tig class.

I an not needing a complete education on welding from stick welding to titanium. I need aluminum and stainless skills. The cast to billet aluminum experience would be awesome as well.

I wish I was up to it, but my skillz are a bit worse than rusty! If I had my prefernce of types of welding to do, it would be tig. Unfortunately, things are rarely clean enough, nor convenient enough to use it at our shop.

  8. I used to be able to tig really well. I was doing tricky stuff, like cast aluminum to billet aluminum even. From what I recall, make sure everything is clean, clean, clean!

We have a tig at the shop, and I have welded some aluminum with it, but until we get a foot pedal, and throw out that stupid hand control, I won't do so well. Stainless is really easy, as long as it's clean, also. I wish I had more time and stuff to weld with it!

  9. What do you think of their layout? They're using the new built in vBulletin CMS (the articles in the center of the front page). I'm not sure I like it. I've been thinking about implementing it with the vBadvanced front end (what's on the dev site now). Moving the "how-to" and some other stuff to articles in the CMS. Who knows. I can't make everyone happy. So anyways, what do you think of their site?

Honestly, I just go to the first and second gen sub forum, bypassing the rest of the site, for the most part, since I spend (waste?) so much time here on OR! I'll actually look around there a bit more tomorrow, I'm about out of time (energy) tonight.

  10. Yes, those pictures will be there. Glad you likethe site. I've thought about the "post thank you" thing. I thought about bringing rep back too.

Are JRM and I the only ones that saw this? I was going to make a joke about this, until I finished reading the thread and saw this.

The popularity contest may be back on!

VFR World uses 4.01, and thanks. The thanks is cool for technical forums, but I don't know that it would fit well with OR.

  11. Not a fan of it on the left... now it looks like the free forum I run, which is lame. :D Just bein' difficult.

:plus1: WIth it inline, at the top, as it is now, it's part of reaing the thread to see who posted, with it on the left, you have to look over there, out of line with what you're reading to see who posted each reply. :dunno:

I never saw any kind of reply as to how tough the back-end of the new version is for you to run, compared to now. I'd rather it be easier for you to run, so that you can ride more, and when not riding, implement new stuff, compared to maintaining the site.
