  1. exactly the kind of thing I'm thinking....100 million lines of code is some serious shit.

As for the OBDII thing, that's just a diagnostics port accessing a memory map.

OBDII is quite a bit more than just communicating with a scan tool. The PCM pretty much runs an emissions test while you're driving down the road. ALL of this is CODE, as they don't add any sensors for this, other than a couple more oxygen sensors.

then the horriffic evil demonic piece of shit american auto industry is different, I was on the gas in my grandmothers 08 GP getting onto the freeway and was pulling a bag from the back seat into the front and I knocked it into neutral from drive. Scared me at first because I didn't know I had hit the shifter, thought the car just lost drive.

Good for the imports another job well done.

:plus1: They need to keep some things a direct, or even just cable operated, connection.

    Women Drivers = No Survivors

Nice one. I'll have to remember that one!

  2. :plus1: For Canon, and another :plus1: for Newegg!

I haven't used the XSi, but I had the original Digital Rebel, and currently have a 40D.

As for the lens compatability, like has been stated, as long as it's an EF, EF-s lens, it will work. Older manual fucus lenses CAN work with an adapter, but that's a more advanced thing, and unless it's a really good lens, not worth the bother. There are some manual focus lenses out there that ARE worth the hassle though!

  3. The Zune 30GB had pretty much the same issue a while back. I think it was last year. Wouldn't you know it, the problem showed up on a day that I had actually wanted to use mine!!!!

I'll have to see what those I know with PS3's are saying. I think the primary purpose for a couple of them is just the blu-ray player.

I have been fortunate with my 360, got it on Christmas last year (2008) and hasn't had a hiccup. The most use it gets is watching Netflix though.

  4. I like the fact that the user information ie location, bike, etc is all on the left side of each post, makes it easy to read.

Funny that you should mention that one, I like it the way it is. Almost every other vB site I've been on, puts it at the side.

As long as the new version isn't any more work to manage, day to day, I say go for it. As for getting used to it, most of what I do won't change anyway, and the things that change that I don't use might encourage me to use them, if they're easier to get to!

  5. Am I the only one that thinks that there's no way in the physical universe we occupy, that a Toyota has 100 million lines of code running it's combined systems?

I was on a team that made the brains for the spectrum analyzers for new generation info collections systems in planes like the awacs - that system had 43 FPGAs and took up a space the size of half an entire hockey bag and that still probably only fit about 5-10 million lines of code.

I may very well be wrong, but that number just seems way too large to me...

With OBD2, and the testing that ODB2 requires from the PCM, I bet there's a LOT more code there than most would think.

  6. Think back to college, can you think of a school project you were on with an asian and they DIDN'T do all the work? "joint venture" all you want, Toyota did all the work I'm sure :) LOL

GM put up some money, I'm sure. They probably did some of the body work on the Vibe side, just to make it look GM-ish.

So GM puts up some money that they don't have, for Toyota to build the cars....

Also, look at the Geo/Chevy Prism. Toyota Corolla through and through.

  7. So the old man finished painting the bike tonight. The paint color is actually ruby red. I don't think the pictures actually show that maroon color...my wife said it looks like some shade of lipstick. Anyway, I can't wait to put it all together.

There are more pics in my albums...I'm going to do a bit of this :drink:

    Lipstick..... with glitter!

  8. People still have residential landlines ?

    Why would they?

With our phone bill (cell only) I look at the total amount of the bill, and if it's different than normal, I'm on it like a hound dog. Our bill went up by less than a single dollar, and I was all over it, and ended up getting my wife's 22% work discount applied!

  9. Well, i discovered today that all 3 local hardware stores think its spring.

The mom & pop shop offered to order the belt I need (snapped mine in the last heavy snow), but Lowes and Home Depot aren't stocking snow blowers, or any parts for them. The manufacturer has already bought back their stock of auger belts, and replaced them with belts for edgers and riding mowers.

so I can't fix my snow blower, but I can fix the deck on a riding mower if i want...

I was smart enough to look up the part number to see if MTD shares the belt with any of their mowers, but no such luck.

Try carquest or napa. Do you have the old belt number? They can probablt interchange it for you. If ya want to post up the number, I can interchange it through carquest. They can usually have it next day, if not in stock.

Youll see tomarrow when your chisleing snow from the truck to do the struts, its blasted through more than its fair share.

Gee, thanks. (wondering what I got myself into.... )

I has snow packed in the front wheel enough to make the brakes act funky for a while. I was almost worried that I had messed up something.

  10. well most likely it will be for sale, unless i can convince the wife to let me have a third bike lol

i was in the right place at the right time and couldnt pass it up.

if anyone is interested in it shoot me a PM and ill fill ya in

Argh! I wish! No money, so no newer Viffer for me! That looks like a VERY nice one, too!

  11. I was bustin through drifts about 3 ft high in the Intrepitank this afternoon, what's the deal with the big bad 4X4's?

Ok, I only went about 1/4 to 1/2 the width of my car into the drifts, and when I couldn't see anymore, I get a bit worried about making it out.... I made it though! In hindsight, that was probably not such a smart move on my part, but it WAS fun!

  12. think this assumes that the floor mats are the true root of this issue. (which I don't believe) I've had unsecured floor mats in many of my vehicles and have NEVER had a floor mat depress the accelerator.

If the mats are the real problem, wouldn't velcro be the quickest easiest solution?

The aftermarket floormat in my wife's car did this when I tried to move it to where it wasn't restricting the pedal from going WOT... I drove a mile or so and the pedal "stuck" under the mat. I turned the ignition switch off, reached down and pulled the mat back, put in neutral restarted, continued on my merry way.
