Traction control on a 600 isn't needed. I also don't think ABS that's available on any 600 class bike out there would stay on any bike I owned. Even the brand new R6 TC/ABS is admittedly not as advanced as it is on the R1 and I would remove it. They don't have the 6 axis thingy for lean angle, etc.

With that said, the 13+ zx6r is the better track machine of the 2 choices you gave. More people are tracking/racing them which means parts are easier to get, setup info is easier to get, etc. And they do make pretty good power and all.

    Listen to Brandon. ?

So is the ABS linked to the rear tire as well? What happens if you go to back it in and the abs kicks in? I still stand by abs doing nothing at full lean to prevent a tuck, they aren't the same crash. The tire will be gone before the abs would kick in.

The ABS is linked. I don't back it in and for that matter I haven't been on track with anyone actually backing it in. Maybe Knapp or some others but I didn't witness it firsthand. Those guys are at a different level than the average club racer though.

I think the tuck situation depends on what is causing the tire to lose traction. if it's purely too much cornering force then no it won't help. If it's because you apply too much brake while cornering then I think it would, you can lock the front at full lean while it's almost impossible while upright.

I fully believe the comment above about new technology, humans just cannot do things better or faster than a computer.

Really? Theu must have figured it out on the R1. Thats about the first I have heard of it helping on the track, and I can see how it would help unless its too intrusive.

Most guys I know that removed it didn't even try it out. There are plenty of guys faster than me but having ABS on the bike isn't holding me back.

If track only I wouldnt get something without ABS.

I mean it can have it, but you will end up taking it off.

I still have abs on mine and haven't run into any issues on track yet. Also the unified braking helps keep the back settled under hard braking since I never touch the back brake. It has also helped my confidence in trailing know the front isn't going to lock.

I had a great day.  With the bike running well, I was able to get into the 1:46 range.  That was a 9 second improvement over last time out.  If that progress can be expected every time (and I think it can) I'll be knocking on 37s soon.    Regardless, it was a thrill to be WOT in 6th banging off the limiter around the kink.  Weeee!!!

    Nice. That's awesome.

@OSUYZFR1, great racing!  It was cool to brag that the coach who evaluated me at Mid-Ohio was out there killing it.  On a side note, will you be coaching at Mid-O on Labor Day?

Thanks, wish I had a better showing but I wasn't physically ready for that track at race pace. I only had about four laps in me before I started to get tired. My arms were so tired I couldn't get WOT at times. Lol

I will probably be there on Tuesday. Family stuff prevents me from going Monday. Are you coming out?

Thanks for trying to give me a tow yesterday John.

Ended up with 38.3 at the end of the day. Im sure if we had some clear track and your tow low 37s were in sight.

Anytime Dan. Hopefully next time we get some open track and can get into a rhythm. Low 38's in traffic is fast though.

Sometime we need to compare data  and see where the low hanging fruit is

Ok, for a very rough wild ass guess, start with 1/3 the total suspension travel available for your desired ride height.  Do you even know what the total suspension travel available on your bike is?   I know nothing about your bike, so I couldn't say, but your sag should be somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 the total travel for your normal ride loading.  If you're solo most of the time, then you only need to adjust for your riding weight (full gear).  If you're resourceful enough, you can measure your total suspension travel yourself.  You need to remove all weight (including the weight of the bike from the suspension.   Mark that.  Then bottom it out and mark that.  The difference is your total travel, and your desired sag will be somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of that.  Seriously, this is first grade math and a 100 level engineering class.  My FJR is set at about 42% of the fork travel and 35% of the rear shock.  I've found I like the front more toward the middle of the available travel.  Of course you know that sag is only the starting point in setting up your suspension, right?

Casper, don't set it like this. 1/2 total travel is way too much sag. When I was checking sag I liked it between 30-35mm rider sag. I no longer check sag and adjust by feel now though. I live in powell and can help you out if you can't find anyone closer to you. Let me know.

  9. Your twitchy throttle is from the etv mapping. Surprised it's twitchy if Freddie flashed it but who knows what map they put in for you. Are you able to flash it yourself? I'd be happy to send you my maps to try. Honestly not sure how any tuner can smooth it out on a dyno. You really need to be riding it and feel it while picking up the throttle mid corner.  You can piggyback a pc on top of the flash without issues. I had a ton of popping before I put the pc and autotune on. Now it's very minimal. I have a 15 R1 and mapped mine myself with some help from Mark Junge. Send me a pm if you want to talk. I'll send you my number

  10. Fuel tuning with flashtune is a pain in the ass as you have to reflash the ecu after each change which takes like 10-15 minutes. I still use a power commander for all my fuel mapping. Flashtune is used for everything else. What kind of bike do you have?

Had to. They only let you sign up in what you were in last. Had to addition for a bump. Bump was granted when he got tired of following the coach and passed him then left him. 390>600

I went straight into A. Just had to show them a valid expert license. Had never ridden with them before. Probably more fun to pass a coach though. :)
