  1. I think O' People of little moderation, the idea is that many can share a cheap bucket of brew. Many bottles for a cheap price. You don't have to drink them all yourself. But you do get to talk to those that share with you. Thats the best part, sharing with others, like you! If you bring 6 friends, everyone gets 1 beer for under a buck. Still under the legal limit and with moderation. Can you control yourself enough to have available beer and your motorcycle? On the other hand, what would you have a Bar do? Offer free water? Free food? (they do this also, depends upon the day) So what else would you ask of them?
  2. Sorry to hear that happened to you. I think this is one more reason we should not hang out where it"s "cool" to do so. Anyone still eighteen? TACO BELL On campus is ghey! Don't go there! Shootings, over what?!? Are we involved? Leave it behind, shift gears and move on. Let stick with real riding, or lets all get big guns and rule them all!!!! BBBWWAAAHHHAAAAA!!@!
  3. Perhaps next time we could meet else where?
  4. A thought about local rides. You should be clear about where and when. Most people are coming from different areas, be kind, post a map of where you want to meet. Set a time of when you want to meet, and how long you will wait until you start the ride. Plan your route, where can I meet up with you if I'm late? This one was a FAIL because we did not do this. FIAL! FAIL! FLAII! FL!! FLAW!! FLOOF!!
  5. I was, were was you at? Said the late man to the straight man. You can't call a ride and think it through so poorly. If you call a ride you need a plan. Lets start with; where: When: Why: Particularly the where and when......
  6. Odd I went to the Taco Bell between 9th and 11th st. I was there at 7pm. There was a bunch of bikes there, so I pulled up and introduced myself. Then after about a 1/2 hour I figured out they were not us. Nice people all the same but, not us. They never heard of Ohio Riders. Nice to make new friends. I give this ride a "FAIL" Why? Nobody knew what or when. There was no fail/fallback to go for. I had a nice ride all by myself for three hours. Awesome!
  7. I can find that I think, so when? Hmm... 6:20 now, campus area from here... Taco Bell, Near a Borders by 9th st on N high/23. I'm going to head out now, hope to see you there.
  8. Sounds like we better figure out which is which and when? I vote for 7pm today at one of the locations if we can figure out which one in the next half hour.
  9. Is this going to be a "Squidly" ride?
  10. Hmm, on the map that would be N High st/Rt 23 at 9th st, Location "A". So we are talking about a couple of miles south of 161 on 23. Ok, so when?
  11. Time and place? Taco Bell where? http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=taco+bell+columbus+ohio&fb=1&split=1&gl=us&view=text&ei=Kak-SubQE4OgNe3y-LYO&sa=X&oi=local_group&ct=more-results&cd=1&resnum=4# When?
  12. Ok, your gay! Now about this Taco Bell thing... I don't know the campus area at all, so I have to ask, which Taco Bell, on what street?
  13. The face shield reason the cop gave you is BS. Eyeglasses qualify as "Other" protective devices, see below. Yea you have to scroll a bit but I bolded it so it's easer to find. Feel free to print this out and keep it under the seat. 4511.53 Operation of bicycles, motorcycles and snowmobiles. (A) For purposes of this section, “snowmobile” has the same meaning as given that term in section 4519.01 of the Revised Code. (B) No person operating a bicycle shall ride other than upon or astride the permanent and regular seat attached thereto or carry any other person upon such bicycle other than upon a firmly attached and regular seat thereon, and no person shall ride upon a bicycle other than upon such a firmly attached and regular seat. No person operating a motorcycle shall ride other than upon or astride the permanent and regular seat or saddle attached thereto, or carry any other person upon such motorcycle other than upon a firmly attached and regular seat or saddle thereon, and no person shall ride upon a motorcycle other than upon such a firmly attached and regular seat or saddle. No person shall ride upon a motorcycle that is equipped with a saddle other than while sitting astride the saddle, facing forward, with one leg on each side of the motorcycle. No person shall ride upon a motorcycle that is equipped with a seat other than while sitting upon the seat. No person operating a bicycle shall carry any package, bundle, or article that prevents the driver from keeping at least one hand upon the handle bars. No bicycle or motorcycle shall be used to carry more persons at one time than the number for which it is designed and equipped, nor shall any motorcycle be operated on a highway when the handle bars or grips are more than fifteen inches higher than the seat or saddle for the operator. No person shall operate or be a passenger on a snowmobile or motorcycle without using safety glasses or other protective eye device(1). No person who is under the age of eighteen years, or who holds a motorcycle operator’s endorsement or license bearing a “novice” designation that is currently in effect as provided in section 4507.13 of the Revised Code, shall operate a motorcycle on a highway, or be a passenger on a motorcycle, unless wearing a protective helmet on the person’s head, and no other person shall be a passenger on a motorcycle operated by such a person unless similarly wearing a protective helmet. The helmet, safety glasses, or other protective eye device shall conform with regulations prescribed and promulgated by the director of public safety(2). The provisions of this paragraph or a violation thereof shall not be used in the trial of any civil action. © Nothing in this section shall be construed as prohibiting the carrying of a child in a seat or trailer that is designed for carrying children and is firmly attached to the bicycle. (D) Except as otherwise provided in this division, whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor. If, within one year of the offense, the offender previously has been convicted of or pleaded guilty to one predicate motor vehicle or traffic offense, whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree. If, within one year of the offense, the offender previously has been convicted of two or more predicate motor vehicle or traffic offenses, whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the third degree. Effective Date: 01-01-2004; 09-21-2006; 2008 HB562 09-22-2008 So politely tell the police that you think the law states otherwise and you will see them in court over it. Keep in mind Mayors court isn't really a court it is a "Hearsay" court. It is not a "Court Of Record" so you can appeal any ruling of that [sic] court. Quote the statute and I'll bet they back down. (1) Other protective device is not defined. It is simply "OTHER"!!! It is not defined as a face shield nor can it be construed as such. (2) If it has not been banned by the director it can be assumed to be approved is one way of looking at it. Getting the Dept of public safety to rule on it will prolly never happen. 14. Yep, that. I took an interest in the topic of this thread as a real topic, the flame war was just a bonus. I ride an old style bike so new technical forms are of interest to me. Plus I haven't ridden in 20 years up until the last 2. So I'm kinda old school myself. Not too old to learn a new trick or two though! Thanks for the save of the other thread.!
  15. WARNING!! Flashing your brights might make them think you are telling them it is OK to go ahead and cut you off! You might wonder how I know that, then again you might not.
  16. I am doing contract work now. Not very exciting but it's money. Trying to get some updated certs so I can get back into sys administration stuff. Last job took me so far off track I ended up doing cold fusion programming. What is everyone else doing?
  17. Did anyone get the pics from the guy that really knew about riding position? He seemed to make a lot of sense on why one style was better than the other. This Gunner dude seemed to be trying to do the old school hang which works on an old school bike with old school tires. Even if his example was kinda lame watch some old races and they all did that. Well they did it a lot better, but it was the same kind of hang. A modern bike has such different geometry, power band, seat position, center of gravity and lets not forget better tires! Old school just doesn't work on todays sport bikes. They are vastly superior in every way I can think of.
  18. Why is he doing that? He isn't even going fast! Ah, maybe his leg is hot and he's trying to cool off?
  19. I wonder if that would still be a strike, him not actually touching the bat when the pitch went by:confused:
  20. Your on my side of town. Ride to where? Or just ride around? I'll prolly be out there riding somewhere anyway.
