  1. Just...no. I will pretend I didn't read this. If we have even a few flakes of snow in June, I'm packing my bags and heading south. Just an FYI, it has never snowed in June anywhere in Ohio since as long as we've been keeping records of snowfall.
  2. I think HollyMatt and I are getting together at some point. He has to replace a water pump on his bike. I just need to change my oil, go over a few things, and get the trailer loaded up. If you wanna come hang out, maybe turn a wrench, and otherwise just b.s. I'l let you know when we'll be in the garage.
  3. I haven't really determined a price, but I'm thinking in the $2800 range. It has a LOT of extras that I know I'll never get the money for, but it's way above and beyond your average Z400. The only negative about it is the plastics do show some wear, a small crack and some scratches. Not trying to turn this into my for sale thread, but here's a short list of recent mods/maintenance. It's been ridden maybe three times since all this was done. Full Yoshi exhaust, Hot Cams, FCR 39 flat slide carb from a yzf450, new needle/jets, new kibblewhite valves, new valve springs, new cam chain, new piston/rings, DRZe base gasket to raise compression, every bearing/bushing in the entire frame was replaced, new chain/sprockets, new front pads/wave rotors, stainless brake lines, AStar +1 length a arms, ITP Baja wheels (front wheels are 4/1 offset instead of stock 3/2 basically cancelling out the +1 a arms), ITP Holeshot HD 6ply tires, Armadillo swingarm skid plate, and on and on. Here's a couple pics during the teardown and rebuild: You are 100% right. I had to replace my valves after the 2nd ride. Went the Kibblewhite route as well.
  4. Ok I just signed up for Sunday and Monday. Gotta hurry and get everything together this week/weekend since it looks like I'm heading to the west coast for work next week....
  5. The Hondas are super reliable. But I've owned a 400EX and a Z400 (same as the kfx400) and I'd take the Z400. It has a lot more get up and go than the Honda, and if you don't bounce it off the rev limiter like a moron they'll last forever too.
  6. We should have plenty of room. As of now it will just be our 3 bikes in the trailer, plus there's the bed of the truck. I don't have a cap/cover of any kind on my bed, so whatever goes in there has to be ok if it gets wet.
  7. What wouldn't you do to win the Grom?
  8. I guess we're goin! Now, anyone have a clue where to get some race tires in the next 2 weeks? I need new tires, and I don't feel like paying their inflated prices at the track. Plus their tire services were very limited last year.
  9. You should buy my Z400. In my very biased opinion it's one of the best sport quads for trail riding. Reverse is nice, maintenance is easier than the 450's, and a watercooled engine is nice for long rides on hot days. (Are the trx400's still air cooled???) Plus with the right mods a z400 will keep up with most 450's. And mine has all the right mods. It's not quite ready to sell yet but it should be by spring.
  10. I would drain it before you go, that way you don't have to figure out what to do with your antifreeze. If there's nothing in it, it's not gonna freeze. Then you just have to fill it up once you get there, and drain when you leave depending what the weather looks like.
  11. Well it looks like we are leaning towards the Sun/Mon option since Hollywood would have to take off work Friday to make it there by Saturday, but he's off the whole next week for spring break. (College boys and their "spring breaks"...)
  12. I think 2 days at Jennings is all I can do, mostly because of vacation at work. I have a lot of stuff planned already for this summer and 3 weeks goes fast. It really doesn't matter which 2 days, I'm open to either Sat/Sun or Sun/Mon. If we did Sat/Sun, my plan would be leave Thurs immediately after work and drive as far as we can get. Do the rest of the drive Friday, so we can get there and be ready for Sat morning. Do the track days, pack up Sun and start heading back as far as we feel like. Then make the rest of the drive Mon. If we did Sun/Mon, I would do pretty much the same itinerary, just push it back a day.
  13. Paging Hollywood, are we going or what? Right now it's just the 2 of us, and I know we both would like to have at least 1 more person to share the ride/gas with. Anyone still on the fence looking for a ride? We are in Cleveland and could stop in Columbus on our way down if needed. Anyone already going with 2 bikes that would like to join up with us? I can fit 4, and the crew cab fits 4 comfortably. Gas would be cheap if we split it 4 ways. If we don't find at least 1 more we might be out. If you're still looking for a ride, hit me up and help make up my mind to go!
  14. I just got a 35,000 btu torpedo heater, and now there seems like a break in the weather is coming. I've been freezing my ass off all winter working in the garage.
  15. Nice write up and nice times especially for your first trip there! Sorry to hear about the GF. Hope she recovers quickly and hope this doesn't scare her away from the sport. It's getting closer to the deadlines, and I'm pretty certain I want to go and I shouldn't have a problem taking off of work. If I go I'll have up to 3 spots available in my trailer. The first 2 spots are reserved for jbot and Hollywood if they plan on going. The last spot is still open. I'd prefer to minimize my time off of work, so I'm thinking the Sat/Sun schedule is best for me. I'd take Friday and Monday off. Be packed up and ready to go so we could leave after everyone is done with work on Thursday. Drive as far as we can and make the rest of the trip Friday. Trackday Sat and Sun, then leave and drive as far as we can Sunday and finish the trip Monday. I'm putting in my vote just so I can see what everyone else is up to, but if that schedule doesn't work for anyone else I could change it.
  16. Ya that sucks. I don't think many of us know all about what we are buying when we purchase insurance. Seems like a way for State Farm to squeeze every penny out of you that they can by separating uninsured/underinsured. I only decided to read through the fine print of my health/life/disability/auto insurance policies after a couple tragic events that happened to close friends and family. Turns out I was pretty underinsured considering the dangerous hobbies I do like racing. And having unprotected sex with hookers.
  17. Yup most had 2, if I'm not mistaken there were some earlier 3 rotor versions but that was max unless it was something custom.
  18. Fungames what insurance company do you have so I can know to stay clear of them? I just looked at my policy after reading this, and it is defined as "Uninsured/Underinsured" motorist coverage. WTF is the difference if someone causes an accident and they have no, or not enough insurance coverage? Sounds like a shitty loophole designed for them to not pay out. "Ah, he has some insurance...so we can't pay. We only pay if they have NO insurance....lololololloolol." For as long as I've been paying for auto insurance, I can never remember Uninsured and Underinsured being 2 different coverages I could choose from?
  19. I don't imagine they'd put the full 12 rotor engine in a super car. They mentioned scaling it down, probably to a 8 or 6 rotor? Weight would be a lot less, and based off their numbers still capable of some really high hp numbers.
  20. I spent 2 weeks working in India last December. I don't think I'd buy much of anything made there if I could avoid it.
  21. I'll be there, and probably drag the sammich maker with me.
  22. Ouch...the truth hurts.
  23. True, they have talked about it for a long time. The main difference now that leads me to believe it might actually happen....new owner. They've already put a lot of money into the place. And started clearing trees and breaking ground. Last rumor I heard was it would be ready for the 2014 season. I'm not holding my breath for that, but I could see sometime during 2014 being possible.
  24. Looks like I'm out for this year. Racing schedule just came out and we have a race round that weekend. Bummer...I was looking forward to this, had a good time last year.
  25. It is rated for 1000 lbs capacity so if your Goldwing is less then it should. They're pretty sturdy. With all the bikes I work on, this was one of my better garage/tool investments. It pretty much has a bike on it being worked on at all times, and if not I just park one there.
